These boots have issues that need to be addressed
Ryan

Likes these boots at first but that changed quickly. My right boot has a larger seem in the back and it rubs the back of my heel raw. I thought it just needed to be broken in but it never wore the boot in just tore up my heel. The leather on the steel toe portion of the boot also wears and gets torn up very easily (pretty much destroyed). Because of this I no longer wear the boots. Wish they would fix these problems the insoles are very comfortable, boot has good grip and feet arent fatigued at the end of a 12 hour shift (other than my heel).

Falling apart after just 4 months
The Working Man
Feb 13, 2017
This was the first time, and the last time, I bought a pair of workboots from Timberland. I usually wear Red Wing boots, but availability and price made me consider these. After only 4 months, the insoles came out all together. Just read another review here from a customer who has had the exact same problem, and apparently Timberland refused to repair them. I should have known not to expect job-site quality from a fashion-footwear company. These are for looks, not work. Go to Red Wing instead. Not only do their workboots last years before the soles need replacing, but Red Wing replaces them for you FREE. If you're going to spend $100+ on a pair of boots, give it to a company that not only stands by their product, but makes a durable and reliable product in the first place. Save your Timbs for the club.

These shoes are horrible for the feet. The heel is really tough and stiff. No breathability at all. Do not recommend if you work long hours or do a lot of walking. The outer material also fades instantly.

Good for a few years until the soles disintegrated

I wore them for construction work while in school (lab work) for quite a few years. Mostly for safety reasons. I did mixed/casted a lot of concrete almost every week so they got wet/dirty all the time. I remembered they were advertised as being waterproof when I bought them which they were...until they weren't. No longer see that in the current product description. So, that's fair. I put them back in the original box and kept them in shoe closet after I graduated. And the next time I needed steel toe shoes, the soles literally disintegrated (see pictures). I search Google to see if I can get them repair and found out that others had the same problem with these shoes. It seems to be a problem with other shoe brands too from what I found on the web. Even for casual/dress shoes. Seems like shoe makers opted for cheaper/lower quality materials. Makes me sad that I have to throw them away as the leather is still in rather good shape after these years. They were also quite comfortable for steel toe safety shoes too. All in all, I would still recommend these after the fact. At least, mine lasted for several years.

Your guys's boom this pit Boss should be main 8-in boot as well as waterproof for both the safety and non safety toe boots otherwise it's a good boot just needs waterproof for both safety and non-safe tokens and have it in an 8-in option it's also waterproof and safety and safety joke

ONe of the Best boots I have ever owned
Stage Tech Mike
Oct 24, 2014
I have owned two pairs of these boots and amazingly, they felt the exact same out of the box as they did a year and a half later when I replaced them. I am extremely tough on boots due to the nature of my job,but these boots never failed. Every Timberland Pro boot I put on has felt amazingly comfortable for a steel toe and they last forever. I replaced these boots when the sole wore away, and loved my new pair just as much. I then had the sole repaired and now I have a pair for drywall, painting, and welding while the others are my "Nice" work boots. Ask yourself, have you ever had a Safety Work boot that you end up wearing every day? If not, then you need to buy some Timberland Pros, you won't want to take them off.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am a plumbing and gas engineer for the past 25+ years yes I have tried other manufacturers but always kept coming back to TImberland so for the past 15 years I have been loyal what can I say about these boots they do everything keep the water out very well they are strong rigid they are the best boots for comfort and a would recommend these have highly and they last for about 2 years wearing them daily. I have now gone into teaching so I only wear them in the workshop and I am sure they will see me out well done to the design team at TIMBERLAND

An amazingly comfortable shoe with a few caveats

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is essentially my first pair of boots and I have to say that I was amazed at how it all fit together. Everything fit very well and it feels comfortable to walk around in and stand in for long periods of time, which is great I presume. The toe is also roomy and comfortable and the steel toe offers great protection. The only caveat is related to the top portion of the boots. Now this may be my inexperience or maybe its due to not wearing the correct type of socks but wearing them for a long time makes them feel like theyre digging into my lower calves. It's strange because they are paradoxically comfortable to wear while simultaneously feeling that persistent sensation after long periods of use. Hopefully there are changes I can make to make them more comfortable. Even with this exception I still highly recommend these boots! Even for a first timer like me!

On my 4th pair. Great boot but very slippery when cold/wet
Michael
Jan 24, 2025
I'm just bought my 4th pair of this boot. I've been wearing this model for 10 years. I wear them 2-3 days per week at an indoor machine manufacturing facility and occasionally outdoors in the woods when splitting wood. My only complaint is that they are very slippery in the cold. I am in excellent shape and very athletic but I have almost fallen multiple times when walking on ice or cold/wet surfaces. The sole loses all grip when it gets cold. Definitely not a good cold weather outdoor boot.

Bought these after my PRO helix boots wore out. I drive a forklift so they don't see much hard labor, but on DAY 2 of wearing these I have had one of the lace holes fall apart as well as a lace holder fly off. If I could return these I would. They are also very easy to scratch/scuff up. I have multiple ones from 16hours of work. HOWEVER they are very very comfortable (so far). Will be contacting local store as well as Timberland to try to resolve my issues.

Very good quality. I have the same pair and wore for 3years before getting a new pair. But I could go another year or two before actually needing a new pair. Still have plenty of tread on the bottom and cushions inside the shoe are still comfortable. Best work boot ever. I'm a life long return buyer for these or the 6" direct attach steel toe boots.

I am currently on my 7th pair of Pit Boss boots in the last 7-8 years. I normally get a new pair every year, not because they fall apart, but my boots get pretty beat up on my job and I like to get a brand new pair around the start of every year. I still have my previous two pairs as back ups, and actually donated the two pairs before that. Just bought this years pair, but I'm still wearing my old ones until the weather gets nicer so I don't destroy the new ones in the mud and melting snow. The only thing that I can say is that I wish they came with the Timberland Pro Anti-Fatigue Insoles. The insoles that come with the pit bosses are a little thin and don't provide much cushion, so I always put either a gel or anti-fatigue insole on top of the insole that comes with the boot. I highly recommend these boots and really hope timberland never stops producing the Pit Boss, because I will continue to buy them as long as they make them.

Poor Quality Sole/Boot Glue, Customer Service not helpful
Patrick
Feb 26, 2018
Had a pair of these before, lasted me many years working outside, hiking, and work. Bought these from a vendor of Timberland who advertised the 30 day comfort guarantee (which doesn't apply to these boots, FYI). Boots were very very comfortable once over the 1 week or so break in period, but the sole cracked loose from the boot within 2 weeks. I figured it was a fluke, because I was always impressed with Timberland boots in the past (have had other soft toe versions as well), so I requested another pair through Timberland customer service. They sent me another pair and I sent the 1st pair back... broke the new pair in for a week or two, and the soles split off the boot again. Contacted customer service again, and they said send them back for a refund. I waited for my refund for a couple months, but they never issued it. I contacted them again asking for an update, and they said something to the effect that the person I was talking to had left the company and my refund wasn't processed. They sent me a refund in the form of a gift card to Timberland.com. After requested an actual refund so I could buy another manufacturer's boot (because of the quality issues Timberland is having), they said they couldn't do that. Bottom line: I had (2) pairs of boots fail within 2 weeks of standard walking usage in a factory. I had to chase my "refund" for a couple months. I am forced to buy another pair of Timberland boots with my "refund". Very disappointed in their handling of both quality, and refund policy. Will not only not recommend them to others, will account my experience as an extremely dissatisfied customer and recommend they shop elsewhere. Hopefully to a company that treats their customers better...

I'm a construction pro and I'm always looking to get the best boots for my work. That's one of the things I spend the most money on :) This Timberland Pit Boss was very heavy compared to a previous boot I had (from Dewalt) but to my suprise once I got used to the weight it was a great boot! I did a full review here if you want to check it out for more details!
