Most confortable boots I have ever owned
Jamie
Jan 22, 2017
I have owned 4 pairs of these boots. They are the most comfortable boots I have ever owned. I am on my feet most of the day down on the ranch and never have foot issues at the end of the day. Rain or shine they keep you feet dry. The only negative I have is that, after a time, the sole pops loose from the rest of the boot around the toe area and moving back toward the heel. The uppers are still good and boot continues to be water proof but unwearable due to the loose sole. All one can do is throw them away and buy a new pair.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I just upgraded to a second pair. The first pair lasted 3 years of rugged terrain, water, mus and tall grass. The fit is incredibly good requiring virtually no break in person. Very light weight.

Bought these boots to wear at work. I work in a show room and I'm on my feet all day. The boots were comfortable but didn't last long. After three weeks of wear they started to separate on the outside toe of the right boot. The rubber separated from the leather just at the toe crease, about 2.5 to 3 inches long. Sent them back, Timberland recieved on Dec.5, 2014. Deemed a defect, I had to call them on 1/14/2015 and still have not recieved my replacement boots on 1/26/2015. Very dissatisfied with Customer Service and Product.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is the 4th pair of Timberland Chochora boots I've bought in 10+ years. I was ready to replace this past summer and actually bought a pair of $150 Oboz because my friend loved his. All I can say it 2-miles on the trail and the blister on the heel started. I made excuses, tried to make them work and finally threw in the towel after 3-months of sore feet. Timberland makes a great hiking boot and I charted my first 10-miles this past weekend with no issues. When you know you've found a great shoe that works over, stay the course. I will keep buying Timberland.

Made to Wear Out

Oct 29, 2016
Purchased in Jan 2016, used 3 times week for walking 5-8 miles on paved areas. Boots are just falling apart. Sole came unglued, heels worn down to nothing. The soles are flat, and they are hollow core not solid as outward appearance would suggest. Can not imagine how must faster they would have blown out if used on rocky or uneven terrain. Poor quality. I have tennis shoes that held up better!

Best and Only Hiking Boots I Use
Adrian
Jun 19, 2023
I had these for about 3 years in total. I beat them to the brim from the mountains in Montana to the deserts in Big Bend, Texas. Not once did I ever have any problem with them and these are the only reliable pair of hiking/work boots I will ever want to use. The only reason I got rid of them was because I wore down the tread too much and started slipping! It only sucks because now I can't seem to find them anywhere.

Jan 26, 2017
I couldn't be happier with these boots. I wore them last Saturday to the beach to photograph the large waves. I was so engrossed in my shot that I missed a wave that came in, covering my boots completely. This was early in the shoot. My feet remained dry throughout. They are lightweight and comfortable. I highly recommend them.

I love these shoes. I will admit to wishing I could have bought these via a local business, but none of them had the vortex variety so I had to go on line. The shoes fit wonderfully, and arrived quickly. Packaging is also important to me. I don't like places that over package. Less is important because I wonder about it's carbon footprint. I found they don't over package.

Best Boots Ever
Fat Foot
Jul 10, 2019
I have had my boots for ten years and today I should be receiving my second pair. I might give my current pair a funeral or something, so close have I become to them. Or maybe bronze them like they used to do to baby shoes. They've got dust in them from the Appalachian Trail, California, dozens of other places in the US and went with me to the other side of the world when I worked in Afghanistan. They have NEVER let me down. They felt like bedroom slippers the first time I tried them on, and they have only gotten better. And I have problem feet - gout, arthritis, fallen arches, etc - and I can wear them all day in comfort. I have worn the soles off them, that's the only reason I am getting a second pair. These people giving one star reviews ... I don't know what they did to make these shoes fall apart in a year or less. Have I made my point yet?

VERY comfortable boot for walking and casual hiking. I think of it as a hybrid work/hiking boot. Not exceptional at either task but will get the job done doing both. Really my only big complaint is that it has an unusually low tread life. I suspect the softer rubber is what helps to make it more comfortable than most boots I have tried in is price range. But the trade off unfortunately is that I can probably only get 2 years max of tread wear out of it. Which a little more than half of what I get out of my previous boots. That being said, I still don't regret buying them. But I will be keeping my eye out for alternatives.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I like these boots but I don't love them. The achilles tendon notch is cut too low. Less than "mid" in my opinion. Next purchase would be back to mid Mt. Madsen. Bought these because website said they could not ship Madsen to my address-????

Best consumable hiking boot at the price

Apr 29, 2024
I have bought these boots 10 times and never regretted it. I am very tough on shoes. I have them resoled with harder rubber when they wear down. The upper lasts forever at the stitching, but delaminates at the glued toe, every time. The speed hooks break and the metal thread holes pop out. I have my cobbler swap them to eyelets. I keep a pair of broken in hikers built and ready to go, and working on a second build to have as a mailable reserve pair for a trip on the AT. I keep two old pairs, one as painting shoes, the other for tar work. The rest were throwaways before I found a cobbler. The inside liner lasts forever. The insoles need to be swapped with the honeycombed Timberland Pro versions. Feels like walking on air. They can be totally saturated from wading through water and will air dry hanging on a pack while wearing slippers, but will dry on your feet if you have to. Pull the insoles out to speed the process. No break in period needed and they won't chafe your feet (if your feet are broken in). The biggest problem is the toe delaminating, it's inevitable. I am going to try one of the Loctite 400 series bottled glues, and possibly the Loctite PL 400 Subfloor tube to securely reattach the rubber, permanently, because the cobbler won't touch that. Again, I've spent over 1k on these shoes over the past decade and there isn't a better all purpose shoe. I believe in fixing things because you can usually make them better in the process. Would be a 5 star shoe if they fixed the lacing and toe.

The Most Comfortable Hiking Boot I have Found
Mike, C
Feb 25, 2021
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am on my fifth pair of these Timberland boots which are by far the most comfortable hiking boots I have been able to find for my feet (note: I have flat feet). I hike the Grand Canyon every year and get up to Colorado to get 2 or 3 14er's in every year in addition to regular local hikes, and I have never gotten a blister. They provide excellent support and great traction in a variety of conditions. My only complaint is that the tread seems to wear pretty fast and I have had the sole separate on one of my boots (fixed with some epoxy), and I usually only get about 18 months out of a pair.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Love how lightweight they are. I walk 12 miles a day outside delivering mail and these are so awesome. My only gripe is that I have not found a boot in 19 years where the tread lasts more than a few months. Awesome fit and price and also very comfortable. Wish I could collaborate with a company on some mailman boots where the tread is thicker and will last longer for us folks on our feet for 6-12 hours a day.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is my second pair of the same boots. Obviously I like them or wouldn't have repurchased. The first pair simply wore out after tons of use during the past two years. First pair was bought in a retail store, but due to COVID-19 I prefer to shop now on line. My wife looked at the tag inside the boot and searched for the right boots on the Timberland sight. I am thrilled that they are exactly like the first pair, both pairs made in Vietnam.

Soles fell off after only a few months of light use! I ended up having to do a 3 day hike with the boots duct-taped onto my legs so I wouldn't be barefoot, as the soles had failed mid-way through a multi-day hike. Would not recommend.

I have been buying these boots for work religiously for the past six years. They were out of the box comfortable and required no breaking in. I was pretty rough on them at work as an arborist so they would only generally last for a 8 to 12 months and the first thing to go was the sole or the toe would unlamente. But for what I put them through I was OK with that. The last pair I bought just didn't fit. I buy wide and when I put them next to my old pair they were clearly more narrow. I returned and ordered from a different distributor hoping to get older stock but it didn't happen. So disappointing as I really loved these boots, so it's back to the drawing board.... I just don't know why the specs had to change.

Apr 13, 2016
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Must be a good boot because I just ordered a new pair. Both side eyelets (not the hooks at the top of the boot) are failing or have failed. The boots have more life in them, but not much. Maybe another 6 months to a year of everyday use. Regardless, eyelets need to be stronger.

I've had my pair for 20 years. they have made it through 3 CT winters and literally around the world. (Russia, India, Egypt, Norway Sweden, Iceland, China, Australia) just to name a few. As you can see they have been worn through every type of environment and the only reasons I'm looking to get a new pair is that the sole is starting to pull away, which I will fix but there is a new version. If they last as long as the first pair this may be the last pair I need. Cross my fingers i can find them.

Dec 9, 2016
I have owner this pair of boots for over 8 Years now and wear them everyday. That's almost 3000 days of continuous use. I wear them to work, for my hikes, in rain, in snow, in mud, when i go out and they naver fail me. These are by far the best boots ever made. Period. I went to the store to replace them for a new pair. Put the new one on right foot and old one on left, they looked exactly the same even after 8 years so I decided not to buy the new ones. I still wear the same pair I bought 8 years earlier. I will wear them forever.

Jan 17, 2021
I have a pair of these that I bought over 2 years ago and still wear every day. They are comfortable and great for yard work. The pair I purchased 2 years ago was a 10.5 M so I ordered the same size thinking they would fit perfectly. Nope. The size I needed in the new pair was 11 wide. My recommendation for returning shoes is to not use the Timberland shipping label. It took nearly a month for Timberland to receive the return. USPS transfers the package to FedEx. FedEx delivers it to USPS in Chino, California which is only 13 miles away from its destination in Ontario. The transfer from USPS to FedEx back to USPS makes tracking difficult. When I finally was able to track the package I saw that it sat in Chino for weeks before finally being delivered. So just use FedEx or UPS and send it the cheapest way possible. It will still get there sooner than using the Timberland shipping label.

Erik
Jul 22, 2019
These are very comfortable, however, these boots only lasted 6 months before the sole fell half way off. I used them only for work (office and walking on concrete floors) and once for "hiking". It was a 3 mile trail with a 4 year old and 2 year old so not a challenging trail. The soles are not worn out and the top has plenty of life left. Shoes fail, it happens, however, Timberland does not even stand behind their own products. Returned them for warranty review and they sent them back with a letter, "The product displayed physical signs that equal or exceed the expectation for the use of the product." "Our warranty does not cover the replacement of products that have been SUFFICIENTLY worn." as far as I can see, they are not "hiking" boots. They are only built to sit on the shoe rack.

I work at a garden center as the main waterer so I am constantly getting my feet wet all day. I bought these boots to protect my feet from getting wet and because they look/feel great. I bought them back in November and it is now april. The shoes have since look worn out and are no longer waterproof. This saddens me because they feel great and look great. I will still be wearing these outside of work but I have to find a new pair to protect myself from water.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a great lightweight waterproof hiking boot. Between hiking and general wear I put several hundred miles on a pair I bought 3 years ago and just purchased these as a replacement pair. These will be my preferred hiking boot as long as Timberland makes them.

Material of sole falls apart quickly.

Jan 2, 2021
They were very comfortable boots. They lasted a year and a half of mostly light use. I didn't use them for landscaping or construction work. Mostly, I walked in them on paved roads when it rained or snow. Now, the soles are falling apart, and water seems to be coming in from the bottom. I usually wear running shoes. The soles on my running shoes have lasted longer than the soles on these boots. I think the black rubber sole on these boots must be disintegrating on their own. I'm disappointed.

Disappointed as boots started falling apart after only 3 months. I use the boots daily to walk my dog in the woods for about 2 miles per day. Had another brand that lasted 12 YEARS!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Long time Plantar Fasciitis sufferer. Also work on my feet all day, which does not help. As per doctor's recommendation, wore arch support inserts for years, which helped a lot, but didn't quite solve the problem, so I continued to look for shoes that had good arch support. Never found any with arch support as good as the Dr. Scholl's Tri-Comfort Orthotics I was wearing, until one day, shopping for hiking boots, I came across these. My search was over!. The arch support and ankle support in these boots is so good, that my Plantar Fasciitis pretty much disappeared. However, if I wear any other shoes, and walk a lot, the pain comes back. I'm pretty much dependent on these boots for my feet's health. I tried other Timberland boots and shoes, and none have the arch support that these have. I wear these boots to work, all day, every day, and my other shoes only for short walks. Whenever I have to walk a lot, I wear these boots, or else, I hurt. I heard that Timberland may discontinue these boots, they are no longer available in stores, that would pretty much be a tragedy for me. I hope they don't discontinue them, or that they make another model with the same arch support as these. So far they haven't, I've tried everything I found in Timberland stores, and nothing compares. If Timberland does discontinue these boots, I'll be forced to look into different brands. This is now my 4th pair, since 2010. And, yes, they are durable!. I've hiked a lot with these boots, and wore them every day to work, and they still lasted me a couple of years. ONE FLAW: They claim that the Gore-Tex membrane on the sides of the boot is waterproof, it is not. Place this membrane under running water, hold a paper towel on the opposite side (inside the boot) and see the paper get wet. I found out the hard way, by walking in heavy rain with these boots. My feet were pools of water when I got home. After the boots dried, I did that test, twice - They let water through!

I use them om almost a daily basis out on the property in some water and mud and just for good support. I have had mine over half way up in water with out problems and these are Timber Dry. I also treat my boots with mink oil periodically. This is the second pair I have had in about the last 8 years or so and I'm about to buy another pair for backup. I wear mine about all the time because they give me great back support on and off the property.

A poor imitation of the last version NOT WATERPROOF!!!

Nov 25, 2020
I had the older version of this that used Goretex and it lasted me many years of hiking use. It was an excellent boot. So bought another one two years ago. It is a poor imitation of the last version. It is NO WAY waterproof!!! This "TimberDry" is a joke. Even the dew on the grass when I walk across the field will wet my feet. And after two years, it's now falling apart. The toe cap is coming apart from the leather. This is also happening on another pair of timberland boots, also only two years old. And my boat shoes also fell apart after only 4 years, if that. My 5th and last pair. Never again will I buy timberland. The quality just isn't there anymore.

My first pair I bought 18 years ago and they lasted 8 years without any care at all. Every pair after that I'm lucky to get a year out of them. My latest pair was the worst with lots of loose grain that creases in a very uncomfortable way. Awful quality at this point and will be my last pair .

These are great boots. I wanted something that was durable, comfortable and would keep my feet warm in the winter but would also breath in the summer and these hit the nail right in the head. I only wear these boots when I go on hiking trips, work in the yard or on cold winter days so I don't wear them all the time but they've been solid for years and still have life in them. They keep your feet dry (unless you completely submerge your foot) and have great flexibility. I highly recommend them!

I have bad feet (narrow + fallen arches) and am a frequent hiker, and Timberland boots are the only ones that work for me. I have used this boot for hiking on flat to mountainous & muddy to rocky terrain, in the snow, through 3-4" of water, at Scout camp, on Old Rag, on the AT, to college & possibly more. I would say I wear them on average 8 days a month, however quite often rather roughly. Not including my $50 Swiss gear boots, these are the only hiking boots I have had that have lasted more than two years. Moreover, after roughly (pun intended) two & a half years, they are still in great shape and just as comfortable as they were day 1, when they needed no break in time. They are fully waterproof and so comfortable that they feel like part of my feet. (only barefoot would be far less comfortable;) I got it because I liked the look of the leather better than the non-leather Merrells, and have never regretted the choice. These are the best hiking boots under $200. (only because I have never had $200 hiking boots to compare--nor am I likely to need any, as I cannot imagine a scenario where I would need a better boot)

Footbal and Construction
Oct 20, 2016
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is my second pair. Bought the first one mostly to go to football games during wet season. They are awesome, comfortable and warm and even during rain my feet stayed dry. Then I started a home project and used them during construction work. Cement work, roofing, lumber framing - the shoes were great. I could climb up/down ladder, be on the roof - good stability and traction. They took quite a beating but my feet stayed dry and only after being in heavy use for over a year did they start letting water through in heavy rain (waterproofing has gone but the shoes are still whole and usable as long as not exposed to heavy rain). I definitely got my money worth out of them and I bought new ones - so I have them for football games (and next construction project)

Feb 19, 2021
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Fit perfectly, as did my last pair of Timberlands. I'm using them daily in New England snow now, and later for hiking, camping and bad weather. They're just large enough if I need two pair of socks, but not too large with one pair. Warm enough with just one pair of socks in snowbelt winter now. Tie them properly, and you'll walk comfortably for miles in four seasons. There's only one error in the online ad. The mesh claims to be "green" color, but is actually a true bronze -- which looks better to my eye. +1

May 25, 2018
I have purchased 2 of these boots. The first time I put them on they were so comfortable I did not want to take them off. Wore out the first pair and bought another pair. Have them about worn out. They last a year. The rubber on the toe comes unglued and the sole on the side comes unglued. The tread wears out; gets thin and I can feel rocks through the sole. Will have to find another brand more durable. I live in the New Mexico mountains where there are rocks and pine needles and wear them every day. I glue the rubber toes back on a couple of times but it doesn't last. Wish they could make them more durable. For the price they should last several years, not just one.

i just ordered these and plan on sending them back after one time trying them on, the problem i have is that under the provided insole they are hard as rocks, so the little flat insole does nothing but even after putting my high end insoles i could still feel how hard the bottom of the inside of the boot is. they wear like cowboy boots if that familiar to you, hard stiff flat bottoms with no real support, also a 9 ran small and were a little too narrow for me
