    I usually buy at least one of these hats a year. Hubby has to have 2 at all times. He is a farmer and this is the only hat he will wear in warm weather. We're in the south so there's plenty of sun. Great protection from sunburn. His work hats take a beating. Sun, sweat, dirt, but they don't break down.

    Order size smaller.   Stiff front brim due to fabric sewn underneath.  Prevents flapping in wind, but does not give a "snappy" look.  Makes the brim flare stiffly outward on the sides. Stiff fabric overall, crushable.

    I've worn my Stetson Airway UV Protection Straw Hat twice while mowing my lawn [total of 4 hours in direct sunlight] and it protected my face & neck from being sunburned. Breeze flowing through the hat's vents is an added bonus! And, the inside of my Stetson didn't get sweat stained. It still looks brand new. Football practices start tomorrow and I will be wearing my Stetson.

    My husband loves this hat. It's the third one we've bought over the last 10-15 years. He's worn each one almost daily, and insists on getting the exact same kind when they wear out. I hope Stetson keeps making them and Sheplers keeps selling them!

    The hat is fine, exactly what we expected since we've ordered it before. But, since hats don't come in quarter sizes anymore, I wish Shepler's would offer a felt band of some sort that goes in the inside liner to fill out the hat. Yes, I can go to the hardware or fabric store, but it would be better if it came with the hat.

    This hat provides sun protection that is cool and stylish.

    The Stetson Men’s Airway is a great hat. I love this hat so much I have bought another one to replace the first one. It fits me great. I love the width of the brim and I can feel the air circulating through the hat with even the slightest breeze. I love the look of the curve of the brim front to back also.

    Bought the same hat a couple years ago. This one I just received is not the same quality in the first one I have. The new one is made less strong, it might last a few months.

    I've owned scores of hats for use down here in the deep south, including solo trips back in the swamps. The Stetson Airway UV Protection Straw Hat is not only the lightest and coolest hat possible for hot sun, it is one of the most stylish available.     I have had a hat like the one I purchased, but this last hat that I just purchased from you was a different size than a medium. Or the first hat was miss marked for it's size. Which ever way you look at it the sizes are NOT the same.

    I have been looking for about 2 months for a straw hat to protect me from the sun on an upcoming vacation. I saw this on sale and ordred. Fit is perfect. I took off the strap and love the breathability of it. Works great for my sunburn attracted dome. Love the leather band on it as well. Really a great looking hat.

    Over the last 15 years I have owned dozens of different straw hats. I like this hat the most because of the smaller brim at 3 inches, and also the most vented of any hat I have found. This is my 3rd one. I get a new one about every year, only because I wear them for everything including work,and I get them quite sweat stained. If worn only as a dress hat I could see this hat lasting 10 years. It is very durable. I also find very Sheplers reliable with my order.

    You can feel a breeze flow through the crown of this hat while you are protected from the damaging effects of the sun. For many years I've had to have pre-cancerous lesions frozen from my nose starting early every summer. NOT this year. The unique built in sun protection has taken care of that. Not only is it good for your protection---it is an authentic stylish Stetson hat. Can't get much Cooler" than that.

    Having purchased this hat three years ago while on vacation in California and not being able to purchase locally, I ordered the hat over the internet. The hat is a thinner weave, which could be a good thing but it won't keep it's shape after steamed and shaped and the size is about 1/8" to 1/4" smaller than the previous hat so a Large barely fits my head. I have doubts that I'd order another hat online.

    This is my second one. The first one wore out in a year with the thatched straw material breaking down on top where I grabbed it to take it on and off. I really liked the styling and the tie down which kept it on my head on windy days and while riding my bike. It breathes well and keeps my head cool.

    This is a nice hat for folks like me who have a "moisture management problem" in other words, I sweat! I just wish someone would make a western hat with this type of construction. Until they do, folks at at the barn and on the lake fishing will wear this hat to keep cool.

    I use this hat for everyday use, I can dress it up or down, it is light weight and very comfortable, especially during the warm weather. I have not found anything not great about this hat.

    The hat did not fit, to big. I had to return it.

    Vented part could be stronger. You can't grab it by the crown or the vents will tear. Must put on and off by using the brim. Stetson, you could have done this a little better.

    Good looking hat. It'll keep all the bad rays away. Didn't like the cheap band on it though, so I bought a better band and a better stampede string. Now it better than good its gr8. I don't go out during the day w/o it. Everybody likes it. Feels good and comfortable on. It'll get warm up here in the desert so I'll really test it this summer.

    I needed a new summer hat and this one fits the bill. Great fit, light weight and breathable. I will wear it for golf and any other outdoor activity. This is my third Stetson purchased from Sheplers (Drifter and Mountain Sky) and they are all great hats.

    The light color and open mesh really help to keep your head cool. Quality touches impress, like the reinforced roof where you would lift your hat with one hand, and the leather strap that holds it in place so you won't lose it on a windy beach or a horseback ride. High UV protection (50) too!

    This is the 2nd Airway UV I have purchased. The 1st was from a great, well known outfitter in Santa Barbara, CA. Upon close inspection of this Airway, I noticed several lesser quality touches. The hat brim (lower) is now glued vs. the more classy / finished looking stitch work of my 1st Stetson. The overall construction of the hat also appears less finished than the 1st Stetson. The initial Stetson was very long-lived. I do not have the same expectation for the latest acquisition.

    The fit is accurate. People notice the hat and keep coming up asking, "don't I know you from somewhere?" I never attracted attention before. The hat is obviously an attention getter. It is nice and cool and gives lots of shade when I am working outside.

    everyone comments 'thats a great looking hat' where did you get that, sheplers my onlineshop. then I proceed telling how the large venting keeps your head so cool. When I ride the 4wheeler the air goes straight through the hat, it makes it easier for the hat to stay on. The shape is perfect, sweat band & material on the peak are good quality. Having all the sun protection is such a great idea, no wonder its a best seller.

    This is a great sun hat! The brim is a little wide (3") and the fit is slightly large. A folded paper towel in the band and it fits just fine. I would have preferred something a little more stylish with a narrower brim, but this hat has become my favorite for warm weather.

    My husband loves this hat, but in the future I will go to a store to buy it. My first order came flattened, box and hat. I had to PAY $11.09 to return my first order and then reorder and hope the second order got here on time. Paying for returning the first hat made the purchase very unattractive. I do not like having to pay for returning damaged goods.

    I ordered this hat several years ago and wore it while fishing and doing yard work. It fits well and keeps the sun out of your eyes as well as keeping you cool and the bugs off your head. It finally wore out after three years. I was elated that the hat was still made and ordered a replacement. Great for summer.

    Hat without ferrule

    First, I picked up in store, a good idea. Hat was missing wood ferrule to tighten draw string. Fortunately, I found another hat in store with ferrule. Many hats in the store were missing ferrule. After I got to my truck, I tied a knot in the leather drawstring to prevent the ferrule from being lost. Second, the hat was advertised as made in USA. Untrue, stamped inside hat - made in Mexico! I have yet to wear the hat regularly, waiting for warmer weather. I’m presently wearing the Santa Fe Stetson wool hat.

    This is the perfect hat for those hot summer days we get in southern Minnesota with humidity around 95 percent. The flow of air over my head is much better than with a straw hat with only a few vents on the side. It was well worth the selling price to get a Stetson of this quality.

    I already had one of these because I was looking to stay cool in the sun. This one I bought for my Dad because I know we can't keep him from gardening and Texas' August sun is brutal at any age. He loves it! It honestly keeps a body much cooler in full, hot sunlight. It makes a BIG difference.

    This is actually my second one of the very same hat. My original is now part of my uniform at work, and is getting a smokey smell to it. Eddie Dean's Crossroads Smokehouse. I am up at 5am putting on Arlingtons Texas' finest Ribs and Brisket. And my hat is a part of it all. So when I go out in public, I wear the new one. Maybe one day I will get a real cowboy hat. But being from Columbus Ohio, it might be a while. This is a wonderful hat.

    Unfortunately, I ordered the smallest size but still too big. When I order a Bailey's hat, size small, it always fits. Lesson learned. I was impressed by the looks and quality. It's just doesn't fit though. I wear a small, 6 7/8

    I bought this as a Christmas gift for my husband. He likes it very much and says he's eagerly awaiting the warmer weather so he can wear his new hat. This is definitely a quality, well-made hat; however, the box used by Shepler's to ship this hat was slightly too small, and the brim of the hat was pushed up somewhat on one side - but it did fall back into shape after a day or two. So, a happy ending!

    The hat is super. The leather strap, not so. It is knotted where it pierces the hat's brim, but the knots are too small, and a gust of wind caused the hat to fly off my head leaving the leather strap hatless! I had to retie the knots to make them larger. And the wooden 'buckle' slipped off and rolled away! I had to tie another knot at the bottom of the strap to prevent this buckle from falling off. To Sheplers: please pay attention to the small details...it's these that ultimately lead to a happy customer. My prior (identical) hat purchased at a store many years ago never had such problems. One of the risks of buying online. Thanks!

    I recently purchased since I love the shorter brimmed hats! This one has the extra canvas on the underneath of the front brim for extra sun protection, really like that! Great Stetson styling and the stampede string is a plus!

    Great hat for trap shooting ! Lightweight and keeps the sun off my glasses, and my ears & neck. I've got lots of caps but a real hat is so much more effective. Nice and cool to have on.

    Promptly delivered, well packed for protection. Got to test it out at a summertime Texas outdoor multiday event. It worked great, and was very comfortable. I personally found it a bit too round for my head, but a bit of foam on each side under the leather did the job just fine. Glad I purchased it, and will be wearing often.

    For me the sizing was right. This hat definetly stops the uv rays---you put the hat on and you notice the difference immediatly. Just wondering if anyone got caught in the rain and how the hat held up

    Hat is perfect it is my 4th one, its who I bought it from ...they didn't send it in its box...didn't have the draw string tightner....Sheplers let me down big time ....last time for that!

    I wear this hat playing golf (three times a week) and any time I attend an outdoor activity, such as a Fair, block parties, etc. It is very comfortable. The only change to the hat I made was covering up the holes used for the chin strap. When the wind blew, it caused a whistle noise in my ears.

    I ordered this hat for my Father because he has had skin cancer on his head removed several times. He's a big golfer, and wears it all the time now with no worries. He has a small head, and it was hard to find a hat that came in a small size. It fits him just perfectly. He absolutely loves it! Best Fathers Day gift I ever gave him. Worth every penny, and the Stetson name was a big seller also.

    I bought this hat to keep me cool and make me look cool in my new home in Florida. Love the look and the lanyard that keeps it from blowing off my head. It appears very well made and at this point, I would highly recommend it.

    This hat runs big! My husband has always work a 7 1/4 size hat. Supposedly a Large size in this hat should fit him. Instead, it is quite big and sits on the top of his ears! Nice hat otherwise. Maybe just order a size smaller than usual.

    This is my second Stetson Airway. The first one had an encounter with a full backpack of books when it was resting on the rear seat of my truck. The hat really does keep the sun off your neck and face while still allowing air to keep your head cool. Looks great while you are bopping about town as well. The hat is sized a little large but that really is not a big deal

    Like the hat. Not as stiff as I’d like but very nice. Purchased to wear out working but almost to nice for that. SPF is high but vents seem big and I’m worried about sun leaving a print on my forehead.

    This is my second Stetson Airway and I learned some valuable lessons from my first. I work outside in the Florida Keys year-round and this is the very best sun hat I have ever had. It is also the coolest and when there is a light breeze it will ruffle the hair on your head. However, it is necessarily lightly-constructed and must be treated gently. Do not grasp it by the crown, which is the most vulberable area and can disintegrate from semi-rough handling. If you get the hat wet or moist repeatedly it will shrink one hat size. Still and all: the best I've had.

    I purchased the hat to keep the sun off my head and neck when working outside in the yard. I did not want a traditional cowboy hat look because I live on the easy coast and cowboy hats are not mainstream. This hat absolutely works better than billed. It is light on my head and the vents allow the heat to escape. I never feel like I am sweltering in the head area from excessive heat. The sweat band is large and absorbs well without bleeding through to the outside of the hat. I find that the hat is stylish and I am wearing outside wherever I go. It seems to have found a place in my truck when I am out and about. In conclusion if you are looking for a hat that protects you from the sun, is stylish and wont break the bank then you should give this hat a try.

    I had one of these hats for five years before it started breaking down. It was made of thicker straw and re-enforced in the crown better. Bought it at a different Hat Store. The new one I received from Sheplers two weeks ago is so thin and the crown is already breaking apart. Very disappointed in Sheplers quality of Hats.

    Being a bit of a hat fetishist(!) I couldn't resist this as a dressier alternative to my trusty Tilly. Good fit although having access to lining tape or a cap-nu-band or equivalent could be useful. Like the chin strap for windy weather use. As far as durability goes - no comment as yet although build quality looks ok.

    I'm sorry to say that the hat had a hole in the crown....should have been cought by packer...?? Was able to return it to local Sheplers store for cheerful refund and was able to purchase a defferant style hat and all is well. i have purchased lots & lots of merchandise from Sheplers on line and will continue to do so. GREAT return policy...never a hassel and always a great value for the dollar. thank you Sheplers on line..!!!

    This is the third Shepler's straw that I've purchased. I have worn one of the out after several years. Now, the middle-aged hat is worn for outdoor work on the yard, etc. The newest hat is worn for "dressier" events. My neighbor had me purchase one for him, too. These hats look good, wear well, and the string helps keep it on your head on windy days.

    A very nice hat, the only draw back is the leather wood slide fastener for windy days. It likes to come off. I had to tire a knot to keep it from falling off. It needs a clip fastener to keep it in place and secure.

    I get alot of complemets on this hat. I changed the hat band & stampede string now it looks like a womans hat. I did not like the way they shipped it. It was smashed down at the bottom of the box when I got it. They did not put it in a hat ring.

    Bought this to get ready for summer, the third purchase in about five years (they wear out, of course). The last two have been imported but the quality is now what it was when made in Texas. It could use a leather sweatband but otherwise it is intelligently designed, and well-constructed, a hat that gets compliments all the time. Straps help a lot in the wind (important!) and the vents really keep it cool. Price is a steal, really (see what men’s straw hats cost elsewhere!). The 3-in. brim just right for sun shading. I have had five cases of skin cancer (cured) and this hat is essentially as prescribed by the dermatologist. You will be glad you took this factor into account.

    Terrific Hat, true to size and I love the strap to keep it nearby in windy weather. Like all straw, the weak point of the hat is the ridge that runs around the crown; nevertheless, this is my 2nd hat of this style.

    Got my hat today and it is fantastic! This fit is absolutely perfect in size medium. I was a little nervous because I had read reviews which claimed that their hat was delivered in a box that was too small and it was squashed. But the box mine came in was perfect.....tailor made! I ordered a couple of denim jackets and they too arrived in great condition and the speed of delivery was unbelievable. Hats off to Shepler's .....I will order lots more from this fine company!

    I play a lot of golf and have used the Stetson Airway UV straw hat for years. It is a "distintive" look on the golf course for sure, but the protection from the sun and the coolness provided by the vented weaving, is a life-saver! Maybe literally. It has held up amazing well for a straw hat and I wouldn't think of playing in our hot and humidid climate without one!

    I wear a 7 5/8 normally, and that makes the most Large sizes a bit tight, but the Extra Large size with this hat is a bit too big. It's easily adjustable with some extra liners under the cloth crown lining (I used one half sheet of folded Bounty paper towel in front and back for max absorption and durability), and with the now perfect fit I really love this hat. The broad brim gives me high quality protection, and the stylin' look means I can wear it anywhere. I'm not a fan of chin straps, so I immediately removed it. I find this hat comfortable and cool to wear in even in fairly hot weather. It's great value and very well made. It should last for many years.

    I bought this hat and when I open the box there were 2 price tags inside the hat, $84.99 and $94.99 which is what it was advertised for and is what I paid. The hat was on sale at a $10 higher price than regular price. That’s advertising I guess. I have bought 5 hats from Boot Barn but never again.

    Very cool hat! Keeps the hot sun from burning my head. Best coolest straw hat I own! Go get one if your goal is to keep your head cool. A big bonus that it has UV protection (they say 98%).

    I like the looks of this hat but it looks bigger in real life than the picture and fits bigger than size.I wear a 6 3/4 and I could put my finger between the side and my head very easily.I put paper towel folded on both sides to make it fit cause I could not get any smaller size and it is a very nice looking hat.

    I have to wear a hat just about 365 days a year here in Florida. Typically, burning through 3 to 4 hats a year. I work outside in an explosive laboratory. Except for about 3 months, you are soaking wet from the heat within 15 to 45 minutes and with the sun beating down on your head—insult to injury; I can tell the difference with its level of UV protection. This hat keeps you cool and the sweet from your eyes; it holds its style, and you know what, it’s just a really good hat.

    Great hat for hot, sunny Florida[...]Took it boating on Sunday and the chin strap saved the hat from blowing off twice.I'd buy one with an inch wider brim if Stetson ever offers one. I'd prefer a leather sweatband as well, as this is my primary yard work hat in the sun. Hats with this fine degree of ventilation are hard to find.

    My hat arrived in good condition and is very well made. I heard this hat ran larger than stated. That's quite true. I ordered a large with head circumference that indicated I should have an XL. Mine fits a bit tight. I suppose it will expand with some wear. However, I am aftraid to wear it because it looks rather fashionable, I don't generally wear hats and I'm not a fashionable person. But when the occasion comes when I'm stuck in the sun, I will wear it. My excuse will be for sunburn issues. I think I would be more comfortable if the rim were less broad. I think the hats should be sorted out after manufacturing with regard to size. This would simply be an inspection effort.

    I should have paid more attention to other comments re: size. The Sheplers hat size chart recommended an extra large for head size 23 1/2. I put the hat on and if it were not for my ears it would have gone to my shoulders. The size chart is wrong for this hat. I think this should have been noted in the info for the hat. I had to reorder and await a credit to my account, else wait 8 weeks.

    I own three other Stetson hats - all are size "Large" and all fit quite nicely. I was dismayed to find this hat was not only big, it was too big to even put in a liner to bring up a size! I returned it and am awaiting an exchange for a "Medium". I sure hope that one fits because it is exactly what I was looking for to wear this summer in Sacramento's heat and humidity.
