Rocky seems to have some quality control issues. This pair has a bulge/seam right on the ankle bone that makes my right foot so sore I can't walk without limping. I thought I could outlast it and my foot would toughen up as the boot broke in, but that isn't happening. I think they make a good boot, but by all means try them on in a store before you buy. And not the display model, but the pair you will purchase. If they feel good after 20 min., buy it, but if not PASS. I have had a little better luck with the insulated boot.

I purchased this boot a month ago and decided to give them some time to break in before reviewing them. The boot fits good and runs true to size, mine was a little tight so I used some mink oil on them and they have loosened up a little. They are very comfortable which I appreciate as I'm on my feet 12 hours a day on concrete.
I only have three issues with the boot. One the laces seam thin and cheep but overall that is an easy fix. Secondly they are pretty slippery when on wet concrete but not very many boots grip well under that condition. Third is the cost but if they last who cares.
Overall the boot is a very nice boot with little to no changes needed, time will tell if they hold up longer that the boots I have had in the past.

Had these boots for 6.5 years. Very dad to throw them away...they were extremely comfortable. Felt like wearing sneakers from the first day of use. Just bought a new pair!

Sole failure out of the box

Had to return them. The sole was unglued in numerous spots right out of the box. Otherwise seems like a decent boot. Rocky needs to step up their quality control

I Wore the desert combat version as an infantryman in the 82nd Airborne and they were the only boots that I didn’t told my ankles in or tear my feat up after long road marches.
Now I wear the black uniform version patrolling one of the most dangerous neighborhoods in America and they provide the same level of comfort and durability I have trusted for years. They aren’t cheap and the soles may not last as long as some (I get a reliable 18 months or so of daily wear out of them) but for the comfort, support, and overall performance they are highly recommended.

I've had tough boots, I've had dry boots, comfortable boots. Boots for traction, ease of donning, etc. Now I have all of these features in one pair of boots!

This is my second pair of these boots. I first bought them when I was in the military & now I wanted a new pair for work. They are very comfortable but my right boot really rubbed wrong against my heel, making it uncomfortable to walk. After a while of dealing with that, I guess I broke them in enough & no longer became a problem.

Solid boots

These boots are hands-down the best boots I've found so far for extended periods on my feet. The boots exterior stays solidly in-tact regardless of how you abuse it, and the original sole stays good for a hot minute.
I used these boots but brown when I was in the Army. Even with the abuse the infantry can have on everything these boots lasted a solid 9 months, and even then I could usually get more time just by changing the soles.
Great boots. Would 10/10 recommend.

Never roll your ankle
Army
Jul 12, 2015
After going through sever other boots, to include Name brand and fairly expensive ones, I finally broke down and paid the premium for these. I will say now that I would have paid more. I wear 13 Wides and have always had problems finding comfortable boots. Never had to break them in. These boots feel like running shoes in regards to comfort. I haven't been able to roll an ankle even when I, and I tried. I wore them through deployment, I wore them through training, I swam in them, I did everything to these boots and they are still as comfortable as if they brand new. I wash them in the washing machine with bleach once a month, well over 20 washes so far. They come out smelling new and fresh, and feel comfortable as heck. After almost 3 years of use, the only thing that has happened is the soles are a bit worn. Best boots/shoes I have ever owned.

I have a lot of friends who use this boot so i gave them a shot. Coming from wearing nike's two year, i notice rocky's are bit more rigid below the foot and grip the foot more than the nike's did (nike's feel like a sneaker). The Rocky's are supposedly more durable and waterproof than nike's which are nice. One problem I have is that the Rocky's seem to dig into the back of my heal a little bit.

Got my wife and I both a pair of the S2Vs. They are very well made but not entirely what I expected. Ankle guards are great and it’s a comfortable fit. They need a heel cushion for the back of the boots like the old Oakley’s use to have. After constant moving the friction on the back of the heel starts to heat your heel, and cause blisters and over all just rub your foot raw. Of course my wife had alittle worse wear on her feet then I did, but they are definitely lacking in the overall comfort I expected.

Bought a pair a.week or so ago. Glue on the toes is letting go of the sole, the eyelets on the left boot look like they were cut with the right boot stencil or something they're off a little but the right side is right on. They run a little small and the puffy insoles they come with make it worse. The 15 wide feels like a 14 or 14.5 more so and it's not as wide as I hoped. The tongue is very stiff and doesn't fold in right on the left side. Giving two stars because the right one was made well but not the left, the glue is letting go, they're very expensive and the tongue. Maybe I got the v1s or something I dunno but would really like to get this boot if they can resolve these issues.

I like the idea of the S2V Boots. The boots are very stable, and they are more of an athletic fit, but not so much that these boots get torn up during duty use.
The two issues that I have with these boots, are the fit and the treatment of the leather.
First, the upper half of the boot is extremely loose fitting. So much so that I can not cinch the laces tight enough. The eyelets make contact with one another before the boots get tight. I realize every person has a different shaped foot, and some people may not have this issue. However, I have several boots from Meindle, Haix, and Lowa, and none of these European brands have this issue. Having worked for a company that manufacture footwear, I suspect that Rocky chose not to use an anatomical last when they constructed these boots. I have a pair of Oakley boots that have the same problem.
Secondly, these boots are treated with some kind of waterproofer which makes them impossible to shine. I suspect this was done to keep the leather from rotting when exposed to water, however for a duty boot, this is a little much. I can polish these boots in the morning, and by the end of my shift, all of the polish has wiped off. I served in the Marine Corps, so I know how to polish boots, but nothing I've tried has kept a polish on these boots longer than a day. I also believe that this treatment reduces some of the breathability of these boots. I have a few pairs of Gore-Tex boots, and they seem to breathe better than these boots, which are unlined.

I'm former US Army Central American SOCOM. These boots are as light as P.T. sneakers but feature protection necessary in certain situations. I've tried other brands, Rocky are the best. Trust me, buy them. E-4 U.S.Army Arnold 1988-1991.

Best Boots I Have Found
Riggs
Nov 16, 2016
I purchased these boots through my agency. I have beaten them up for a little over a year now. I work in south Texas. Some days I walk 5-6 miles (sometimes farther) through thick brush and over rocky hills, during the course of a shift. Some days I spend ten hours standing on hard concrete. For my job, I needed a boot that provided long lasting comfort, support and protection while keeping my feet cool and dry.
The Rocky S2V is the only boot that delivered in every category. The rubber outsole has just the right amount of flex for hiking through rough terrain. The aggressive tread is awesome for mud and slippery surfaces. The leather, 1000 denier cordura and rubber all provide great protection against thorns when I am pushing through thick brush. The ankle support is good for hiking distances and for running on uneven terrain.
For as awesome as these boots are, they are relatively light. They are great for foot pursuits.
These boots are not waterproof but they do walk dry very quickly. I stepped in a creek not too long ago, I walked the boots dry by the time I got back to my unit.
Through all of the abuse that I have put these boots through, they have lasted well. The support is still in tact and there is still plenty of tread left on the outsole. I was told by one of the members of our tactical unit that these boots are recommended for their operator selection course because they are the only ones that last.
The only complaint that I have about these boots is easily remedied. The Airport Footbed that comes with them offers no specific arch support, it is just a flat piece of foam. I swapped out the Airport Footbed for a Superfeet Flexmax insole. The way these boots are designed, you can fit a pretty thick insole in them.
Bottom line: Get these boots!

I work hard and I play hard. I am hard on my footwear and I expect a lot from them. Rocky boots have yet to let me down. No matter how tired I am at the end of the day, with every muscle in my body screaming at me, my feet never give me any problems. I own nearly 2 dozen pair of boots. My 3 pair of Rocky S2V are my favorite. Every time I lace them up, I know my feet are in good hands.
