Ranger Pants
WopoGiovanni
May 27, 2010
Great pants, these are the first pair I have purchased and I am very impressed. They wash really well and are basically wrinkle free. The codura pockets are perfect. I did order 1 size bigger in the waist because they are 100% rip-stop spun cotton thinking they would shrink a little, but so far they haven't. Mine take heavy wear, I purchased a pair of Trailhiker II pants and they dont hold a candle to the Ranger Pants! I am definately purchasing more and will reccomennd them in our business. Great job Wrangler!

These are, hands down, the best pants you can buy. I wear them daily and they wear like iron. Doubled knee, cargo pockets perfectly placed, wide and deep hip pockets, wide belt loops, and heavy rip stop cotton. They are my go pants when I ride the motorcycle. Can easily be worn under riding pants.

My husband works in construction. He loves the way these fit and that there is room where he needs it to bend and move. He also loves the pockets so he can carry smaller tools, etc and the pants are reinforced in all the places all other work pants and brands have worn and ripped.

By far the best pants on the market.

This pant fits the bill for a business casual, yet it has the durability and wear of an industrial workwear. I no longer will wear jeans. The rip stop fabric is fantastic, and comfortable as slacks and more durable than denim.

I don't know what they're using to measure out these pants with, but I don't think its American inches. I've had plenty of Wrangler pants before, and they were all 34x34. I still wear jeans that are that size as well, but after reading some reviews, I went with a 36x34, and they're still a little tight for comfort. I know it will help once they break in, but they do run about a size and a half smaller than advertised. Other than that, they're a good pant, and seem to be pretty durable. They also seem to be a little warmer, or more insulating, than normal pants.

Strange fit

Not sure what is going on with these. The fit is nothing like shown in the photo. The waist and length is perfect. True to size. I take a 35/30. There is enough pant leg here to fit two legs in each! It is as if it was cut from a pair that was like 50/30! I can pull the material away from leg like about 7-8". They look ridiculous. The waist fits perfect but then, they flair out like I have never seen before. They look like parachute pants from the 80's!

Six pairs in one year, all ripped...
-Frustrated wife
Sep 26, 2017
Wrangler, I write this review out of desperation. My husband is a carpenter and these pants are comfortable, practical (hammer loop on the right side) and the double knee that holds knee pads is a plus. Within the past year I have purchased 6 pairs of Wrangler Riggs Ripstop and each has torn, some within a month of purchase. With any other product I would easily see the first pair as a good reason to abandon that brand and find something better. The problem is that my husband really, really (obviously) prefers these pants. This is getting out of control and I just ordered our 7th pair online a few hours ago. We want to remain loyal but I'm ready to lose it over the quality here. Why is this happening? What can Wrangler do about it before I completely flip out and refuse to order new pants for my husband?!

I am 6'5" tall, 220lbs. with 36" waist, 36" inseam, 26" quad, 17" calf, I have owned 6 pairs of these pants over the last 27 months. I bought 4 pairs initially in black, loden, slate and dark brown. The browns got taken at the laundry before the 1st year was up. The crotch gave out (more on that later) on the lodens after about 18 months, so I tossed them. I lost 40lbs. since purchase and re-bought the loden and dark brown in a smaller size. I use the pants for work and travel, as the pockets are very convenient and they are generally tough in the seat, thigh and knees. Not bad in hot summers, and good in winter if you layer some thermals underneath. A comfortable fit - not too baggy like some cargo pants. Frankly, these would be the perfect work pants if Wrangler fixed two issues: 1. The color fades significantly after the first wash and continues to fade noticeably after subsequent washes. 2. The front-most seam in the gusseted crotch has failed on all 6 pairs I have owned, separating in one or more places and eventually opening up to the point that I have to mend it (i'm no seamstress), or it completely rips open and become unwearable. This is not due to any crazy acrobatics on my part, as the rest of the stitching and material of the pants are still in really good shape by the time this crotch-fail eventually happens. Were it not for this one issue the lifetime of the pants would double. To be fair, I have gotten nearly 100 wears/pair so generally, I would recommend, but I have 4 other-wise perfectly good pairs of pants that have holes in the crotch.

I have fallen in love with these work pants. High quality construction, rugged material, comfortable standing, bending kneeling, squatting. These are quickly becoming my "Go-To" workwear, and are still classy enough to be worn to dinner and a movie. My only complaint would be that there is only 3 colors to choose from. (Would be great to see a Blue and a Black) Would love to see a jacket or a heavy work shirts made of the "Ranger" material.

vary well made . size 36 was actually a 37 even after washing . fabric was comfortable compaired to other work wear I have worn . really wish they came in denim dark blue and had a screwdriver / mini mag flashlight pocket on the left side don't want to have to dig for them laying sideways a bottom of cargo pocket / don't get me wrong like cargo pockets keep your wallet in one for a month and you will never be able to stand having it in your back pocket again -

My boyfriend is a hard-working union electrician. He found these pants and fell in love with them. They are durable, they have many pockets for all different size tools, and they are comfortable for him to wear while moving around all day. The next time he went back to the same store he couldn't find them but they were already his favorite work pants (and even when he's NOT at work pants). I found them on the website in 2 other colors and he was beyond excited to find them under the Christmas tree. Needless to say, we'll probably be buying more of them in 2011. Oh, and when these pants are clean, they are nice enough to wear casually with a button-down.

Found these pants around 5 years ago when I was working out of the country. I needed tough and durable clothing with the utility function of military gear. I can not express how happy I am with the wear and function of the Wrangler® RIGGS Workwear® Ripstop Ranger Pant. I have used every aspect of these pants from the ID card pocket to the hammer loop and been exceedingly impressed. I can even wear a newer pair as dress clothes in a pinch, which really helps when I'm on the road, but have to attend meetings. I haven't managed to wear a pair out naturally yet.

The only thing wrong with this product is that it does not come in the length of 29. I read some reviews that said this product does shrink when washed. My husband does not believe that comment, but likes the product so much that we will buy them at 30 inches.

These are great work pants for my husband who works in construction. The fit is about perfect, although the waist sits a littler higher than he is used to and they are a little tighter than his other pants in the same size. I think they look great on him! Most of his work pants last about 1 year before they rip in the rear and at the knees, so we will see how these hold up. First time getting him Wranglers. They were reccomended by my brother who is also in construction, so we are hoping they last 1 year or longer! They are priced less than the usual work pants we buy, but the quality seems the same! We have high hopes for these becoming my husbands new work pants of choice! Thanks Wrangler for a great product!

Apr 10, 2017
Just ordered 5 more pair of Riggs Work Pants. The original Pants held up pretty well, after about a year of heavy use the crotch seam started to let loose. My only problem is I have rather large thighs and would like a little more room. If I get a big enough size for my thighs, the waist is huge. This is my first week with my new Pants, still pretty stiff. Seems like the quality is the same as other brands. I will know more in a year or so.

I wear them most days.I like getting ripstop fabric in cotton because I live in a warm climate. I like the extras that add to the utility of the pants. They could be cut a little tighter and with a slightly higher waist. I also like the paint pant version without the cargo pockets. I own several of each style.

I have only ONE complaint - I buy these for my partner and he loves everything about them except the colors! They do not match any shirt he owns - I had to buy him a bunch of new shirts in colors he dislikes just so he could wear the pants. How about some more colors - black, gray, denim, khaki - anything other than brown and the 2 variations on army green? These are great pants but deserve a better color selection because not everyone is going to want to wear the colors offered.

I wish I had them longer to give a good evaluation as to durability. Lots of pockets and extremely comfortable after they have been washed a couple of times. Yes: I would buy them again as long as they hold up., but they are a bit pricey Question, Enlighten me, what are the holes in the bottom of the knee for, I've never had pants that had them?

7 Belt loops, long live!!
Capt. Brad
Mar 1, 2018
I like the line of Wrangler cargo pants because they have 7 belt loops rather than the typical 5. They also fit well, well and are durable. The online pictures of some of the cargo pants show 5 belt loops now, but when I order them, they arrive with 7 belt loops. If I were to receive a pair with only 5 belt loops, I would figure an era had come to an end and might stop buying them. Also, I ordered the slate color of cargo pant expecting a lighter gray to show up. Instead I got a dark green/gray. Upon examining with online pictures, I can see how that might be. But I was envisioning a lighter gray. I already have several pair of green ones.

I am a commercial electrician that also does HVAC/R work. I am constantly kneeling bending and moving all day. Without a doubt these are the most comfortable pants I have ever worn. I have at least 30 pairs of other pants that may never get worn again. I currently have 12 pairs of the Riggs ripstops in various colors. I have never had any durability/stitching issues. I wear them every day at work and in casual settings. The cargo pockets have plenty of room. I am 6'6" and weigh 250 lbs and was told they made my tush look good. They dry fairly quickly if they get wet. I ordered some that were lined but they run a little smaller in the waist than the unlined. When I get grease/oil stains on them, I pretreat them with Dawn dish soap before I wash them and they look great again. Length is consistent with marked inseam size and I don't want them to shrink so I air dry them and Iron them to maintain the length.

I have previously used carharts cargo pants and in my line of work i was lucky to get 2 months out of them before i wore through the knees. I found these at a local store for the same price that i had been paying with better construction and materials. I have been using the same pair for 5 months now and expect that they will last several months more especially since i have since purchased 2 more pair for a little variety in color. The only suggestion i have is to make the slant pocket on the right side a little wider to accomodate a smart phone.

Falling Apart - One Season
Donny the Irritated Customer
Aug 6, 2017
These are marketed as durable. After one season I stopped counting at 8 holes that are just developing, not torn, just rotting away. All are around the pocket edges, crotch and along permenant creases the pants got during the first few washes. I was willing to overlook the hard creases but cant work in pants that have holes in the crotch. I am an electronics tech for the forest service. If electronic maintenance is too hard for Riggs you might want to market them differently. No ones rigging anything in these.

I usually buy work pants when I am at a sporting goods store, these pants are usually a hit/miss with regards to fit & quality. I was at C@bel@$ recently and decided to give the Wrangler RIGGS pants a try. When trying them on, understand they are a lot stiffer than they will be after a few washings. This is due to their thick material that is durable. I'm not a big fan of having 7000 pockets all over my pants (makes ironing a [female dog]!), but the cargo pockets on these are well designed and SNAP! close (no velcro). I bought 2 pair then (and of course, an "off brand" like I usually do. But having worn these RIGGS for the past 2 weeks, I will likely purchase a few more pairs in different colors (not available at the store). I give these pants a 9.55/10: Durable, Stylish, well thought-out design.

I have two pairs (bark and navy) Im an EMT and I wear these pants for work everyday. the fit is perfect for bending and lifting, the gusset at the crotch is comfortable and the double knee allows me to slip in some padding for kneeling. My partners wear other brands like tru-spec and 5.11 but I find these to be much better fit function and quality. the cordura in the back pockets are a nice feature and the right hand pocket corner reinforcement works nicely for my edc folding knife. these pants fit a bit long compared to wrangler denim jeans, I wear a 32 length in denim but 30 length in the ranger riggs. the material is plenty tough but also thin enough for hot weather and dries quickly in the sun. belt loops fit a 1.75" width belt perfectly. coin pocket in generous. They have button snap closures at the cargo pockets which I prefer rather then velcro closure. triple stictching along down the leg. There are many small details that make these pants choice for me. for casual wear I plan to get the carpenter pant. has many of the same features without the side cargo pockets.

I've had a pair of these for over three years and they've faded some but have no rips, torn seams or wear through holes. I suspect I'll get another three years from them. This new pair is just so I had more than one color to choose from. They also fit loose enough where it counts that you can move like you need to move on the job.

I just bought my third pair. I now have all three colors. The pockets are a really great feature, especially the right cargo pocket; the angled pocket is perfect for a knife, though the hammer loop is a tad small. Just don't plan on staining them. I worked roofing in them and I wish I hadn't. However, they will put up with literally anything you can throw at them.

Seem to be very well made. You will probably need to order one size up. Measured my waist at 40" but I normally wear 36" waist pants. I got these as a 38" and these fit well. I love the pockets in these things. I have several pairs of cargos from the Mall type stores and some are okay but these are defenitely nicer and made of a tougher quality material. The only thing I dislike about these pants is even with a 30" inseam they seem a bit long.

I'm a woman working at a recreational center for teens & have been wearing these pants for years. Love the durability & all those big pockets! Wish they were offered with a smaller waist & more colors. I know people who work in big box stores who would love these pants if they could get them in tan or black.

The ideal pant. In tall sizes!

We've been buying these for a few years now. These are pretty much the only pants my husband wears. He's a slim, athletic 6'8" so finding pants that fit well (aren't super-baggy) is a real challenge. The ranger pants are stylish enough to wear with a sweater for a dinner out, comfortable enough for long hikes and rugged enough to dig ditches in. Plus they have pockets for tools + cell phone.

Sizes do not go any higher to fit my man.

My man is always moving; bending, twisting, lifting, welding, grinding, crawling,.... He wears 44-46. Not going to make sizes for everyone? That is too bad. You miss about 10-20 % of your demographic .

Only three colors available? Light green, dark green and (yuck) brown? No khaki, gray or black? C'mon. Really lousy color selection. Great pants and that's why it's so frustrating. Pants this good need to be available in colors people actually like.

Great Cargo Pants

These are the best fitting cargo pants that I have found. They are ideal for my job with multiple deep pockets for all the items that I use and conceal. Cell phone pocket works well and phone doesn't fall out. They look good on my thin frame.
