Sorry to report that I have purchased my last pair of 501 STF 501xx. First purchased in 1972 . ZCMI in Salt Lake City. Purchased online recently 32 38 , never in stores, ok. What I receive has become a true failure from Levis.. Low fabric quality, low sewing, button failure, bad fading, stripes with proper washing. I have worn the same size and used the product since 1972 but will not continue.

After years and years of being in denial, I can no longer support Levi's (especially my go to 501s). The material has become thinner, and more expensive. Quality is awful. There is no longer any longevity with these jeans. I have at least 4 pairs that are only a few years old, and the same issue - the crotch area starts tearing apart and holes appear. Really disappointed in this brand.

I see a difference in the XX denim on my new Shrink-To-Fit 501s, not as much character as the Cone XX denim. Even sadder that Cone Mills White Oak Plant is closing... it's the end of a great era. I'm too old to be the target market and it sucks to know my favorite American products have fallen prey to economics.
I'm mostly disappointed by the leather-like waistband patch, no XX callout on the black imprinted 501® like there always was. That was important to aficionados. And what happened to the gorgeous restored art that we saw implemented 20 years ago? That was original and authentic art from the Archives and has a place on the flagship product at least.
I have a pair of 501 XX jeans in my closet that are probably 5-6 years old not from the Vintage line and the denim and the leather-like were both beautiful.
Disclosure: I'm a former employee, and I get that most people in the US won't notice, and I understand it's about the bottom line, but that All-American history was reflected in the details.

Have been wearing Levi's since a kid. Your material is not what it used to be. They seem to be a thinner and don't last half as long. They used to lose the color and that was cool but now they lose the color and they have holes in them and they are junk

Levi's 501 are what I wear for riding horses and for every day activities. I think they would last forever, except that riding wears them out in the crotch. They fit tight enough to go under chaps, and yet don't look ridiculous on a 71 year old.

While growing up in the eighties and getting into the punk scene Levi's 501 were a staple. I've always loved the fit and the look and the classicness. The only thing I altered was tapering the leg opening just a bit. With all your new styles I got kind of lazy and tried ones that were already a bit tapered. They are alright. Black smells strongly and fades

I washed these due to the strong chemical smell and even when using cold water they faded out heavily after a wash. At first I thought maybe detergent was left on them but even when dabbing a towel black dye came off easily. The chemical smell on these is so strong that I had to just try and wash it out. I have another pair and it’s not as strongly scented so maybe I just got a dud.

The length only is NOT true to fit. I ordered 34" length, the tags say 34", but the actual fit is more like 32". I have lived in Levi's, so I do love them and will keep them and not go through the hassle of trying to exchange them, but just a head's up there.

Each of the first two 501s that I recently bought wore out in the crotch in under a year. I thought I’d give Levi’s one more try and the third pair was just delivered and the left leg side seam starts at the side (at the hip) and ends up on the front of my leg (at the ankle). Levis quality seems to have become so substandard that I cannot recommend buying them.

Levi 501 shrink to fits are the coolest, quality original jeans. They are thick, quality, cotton that can be used for work and dressing up. The original metal rivets are also something quality in a jean to strengthen parts that can easily tear, for fashion as well. The shrink to fit is great for the purpose of the jean shrinking to your body shape! These jeans should never go out of business. They look fantastic on me! Thank you Levi's for quality business and jeans.

These Levi's 501 Button Fly Shrink to Fit Denims are everything a great pair of jeans should be - and more. They REALLY DO shrink to fit me! If you're a tall woman with a small waist, long legs and a slightly-larger-than-you'd-like-it-to-be derriere, then these are the jeans for you. But buy them at your own risk; other women really will stop you on the street and ask you how to get their own.

I have bigger thighs that the average male. It comes from doing squats, lungs and other leg exercises at the gym. 501,s aren't made for guys like me but they eventually stretch and will fit after wearing them a few times.
I love everything about Levis 501's. It's great to see that levis has stayed true to their roots. I believe the 501 has been named the best cut jeans.

I see you are using the same dyed fabric for shrink to fits as your camo.This is a problem because instead of fading out to lighter and lighter blue, they fade into “camo” splatter.Im not happy in any way.I have worn 501 shrink to fits forever and they need to be faded before they look right.Now I can’t trust your new ones to look normal.I understand that you feel it saves money but I didn’t nor would I purchase “camo” ones but unfortunately they are now and I cannot trust a new pair

I love the black 501 Levi's. They fit like the original Levi's used to fit. The waist is a little bit lower...but not that much. The crotch and butt are exactly where they should be..and they actually have my size (29x34) which I am finding out is extremely hard to get anymore. I washed them in hot water and threw them in the hot dryer and they hardly shrunk at all. In fact-they fit better because they got softer. The black is really black and even though I only washed them a few times they haven't faded at all. (I need them for work and they have to be washed in hot water because warm/cold just doesn't do it) Getting used to button fly isn't too bad... (bathroom!!) because it gets easier the more you wear them.
I would reccommend them to anyone who is trying to get the fit that Levi used to have years ago. I think they are the only ones left in their selection that still fits like that. I used to buy the 512 and the 505 but they no longer look or fit like they used to. They also do not come in the size selection they used to have. Ah well. Maybe I should stockpile them...,in case Levi changes them too. God-I hope not.

I'll start by saying that the denim appears to be a nice quality, and the finish/color of the jeans was exactly what I was looking for. That being said, the fit on these is horrible at best. I wear a 32 waist X 34 Length. The fit around the waist was fine, but it quickly went downhill from there. I felt as if I was wearing bike leggings through my thighs and then clown pants from the knees down. Certainly not was nowhere the previous fit of my 501s. Sadly it seems par for the course that manufacturers don't maintain consistency through their product line ups when it comes to sizing. This makes it nearly impossible to have a hassle free purchase experience online! Return Labels anyone?

They rip out easier in the knees, crotch and by the back pockets. For the price Levi’s cost I would expect a better quality product. #win501 This review may not make the company happy but the quality of the jeans has gone down hill yet the prices keep going up. It’s too bad my husband only likes button fly jeans because with the decrease in quality of the 501 jeans and the increase in prices we are having to do a lot of patching and stitching ourselves to repair them so they will last even 1/2 the length of time of the ones we bought him in years past (10 years ago they were simply better made).

I haven't worn this style since 2000, when I started wearing Dickies for the cargo pockets, but I missed them, so I got some again. It seems the material is better now than it used to be, but they've gone a little into the "skinny jeans" style. It doesn't bother me too much, because I can still fit in them, but it's a little weird to have the waist a little wider and the legs a little smaller than I was used to.

I buy these jeans for my husband a lot. These are the only jeans he really loves. Plus he looks great on them. I like how strong they are and last a great deal for what my husband does of work. These jeans go through a lot like dirt because he works out in the fields. Oil and grease because he is also a mechanic. And fire and fire wods because he is also a welder. All the bending and stretching they go through, I think these pants see everything. So for this I would not give them 5vstars, I would give them 10.

I now own 10 pair of Levis. 3 down (fabric wholes and seams splitting after less than 7 months of wearing) 7 to go. I had 12. Two have gone to Levi heaven (or the other place). I am not hard on them. They just seem to come apart, easily. Don't know if its the fabric or the workmanship or both, or neither. But I do know I am sad about it. And, after much research I will no longer wash them in a clothes washer (go figure). I will somehow hand wash them, hand ring them out, and hang them somewhere (in my bathroom?) to dry. It was 21 degrees here yesterday. Maybe I will just let them freeze on a line outside. I read that works. I've always loved Levis. But am now sad. My levis used to last me much much much longer before leaving me. I may need counseling. (trying to lighten the mood).

I've been wearing 501 original shrink to fit jeans since I was a kid, so to be honest with you I'm disappointed.

Man, when I received my white 501 jeans, I was a little nervous trying them on because I haven't worn jeans in many years since I was much younger, and now that I'm a lot older I didn't think that I could wear these type of pants because I have also gained quite a bit of
weight...well, to my surprise I can still manage to look pretty good if I may so myself. I had
been wanting a pair of white pants to wear with some cool shirts I bought for the spring and summer time. I give a 5* + because they're still amazing jeans. I would highly recommend these jeans to anyone young or old if you can still rock them....LOL!

These were more expensive than my regular 501 with a dark wash. I liked the color, but the denim is thinner than a "normal" pair of plain 501s. I'll just keep these as my date night jeans and avoid any kind of wear and tear.

I have been wearing this style for 50 years. The fit is consistent and the durability has been faithful. I am very pleased with the placement of the inner size tag. I like that it is smaller and less noticeable where it is attached to the left pocket/leg seam. I would like to have the exterior size patch to be made of something more durable that looks like leather instead of paper bag. I would also like to buy another pair of the seersucker pattern (white and indigo thin stripes); they were smashing!

501s have been my staple since high school over 25 years ago. Back then, I just had one pair of jeans and about 5 white tees. I washed 'em lovingly, and hang 'em to dry. Then I'd wear 'em again... and again... and again... The fit is just right. It wasn't a fad. It was a staple. It was classic. To date, my favorite style is still the signature button fly original fit 501 jeans. It's all right with me.

Let me start by saying that I really like these Levis. Because of my athletic (think football or rugby player) frame, I had to stop wearing classic Levis because my thighs weren't in the right ratio to the waist of Levis jeans. I don't like stretch jeans either, I like the classic Levis feel and fit. So I took a chance on the Levis STF jeans and truly enjoy them.
However, there is the small detail in the feel at the base of the crotch. It's not cut in a way where I can move freely, like the classic Levis working-man fit. Basically, if you ever had to run for some reason while wearing these, you won't be able to freely.
Also, if you are going to buy these, be prepared for extra work. Order a size up in length and waist. Be prepared to soak them inside out, in hot water for an hour. Hang dry them until they stop dripping. Lay them flat on a towel with a towel over it to press out remaining water. Then wear the damp (not soaked) jeans until they dry. Be careful not to sit too much or you will get the shape of your knee embedded in the dried jeans.
After wearing them dry, they should fit to your body perfectly. I did a second cycle of fitting just to shrink the length a little more (I order 2 sizes up on length, that's why I suggest 1 size up). But after the second time, I am comfortable with the result.
If the above isn't something you want to do, perhaps look at a different Levis jean. If you don't mind the extra work to get the right fit. Then these are great. I really like them and hopefully you will too. Cheers!

I have wore 501 original fit jeans for the last 18 years literally every single day. They have been the most comfortable and durable jeans I’ve tried over the years for work and leisure wear. My only issue has been there is a small inconsistency in fit for a single size, mine is a 33x36. Currently, I have 20 pairs in the closet and none of them fit exactly the same.

This is not the shrink to fit product that is the "original" I have been looking for the original shrink to fit on the Levi's site and purchased this one. It is regular denim that is used in most all of the products produced by Levi's. It is not the shrink to fit. I will be returning these and would like to see the "original" back.

Use them to work in the yard, crawl under the cars, under the house in the crawl space to spray for bugs. I use them as general work around the house and on weekends pants. They are comfortable and have been that way with no change in the product(thank goodness)in the 25 years I've been wearing them. It is wonderful to have a product that you can rely on. Don't wear them to work since they are so comfortable, wear ill fitting pants to work to stay alert. !

These pants run extremely small in the thigh to the point I can even fit them up to my waist. Levi's is one of the few brands that makes 32x36 pants and these original fit Jean's are not truly regular in the thigh. I have worn regular fit pants at 32 in the waist that fit great, from Levi's. But these ran incredibly small in the thigh even though they are supposed to have extra room. I am very disappointed with Levi's and how their pant have gotten worse over the years

Be careful ! This price, however enticing, is not the Original Shrink - to - Fit 501's. The fabric is medium weight and not the rigid "gotta wash em" to get them to fit the butt perfectly. The seams are not double stitched and sewn with the heavy gold thread. I missed that when ordering. (I have tried year after year to get the Mr. out of his Levis Original 501 Shrink-to-Fits - to save money - because this old geezer wears through at least 8 pair each and every year since he was 12 - he is going on 60 - so he knows his Levis. ) - Had to return the 2 pair ordered.

Classic 501 jeans - first pair I've bought in 25 years, Still has good as I remember them, but horrified to see they still have a button fly. I'm 61 years old. Don't want to mess with a button fly when I have to go - fumble, fumble, fumble. However I want everything else kept the same 501-style in all other respects. Little too baggy in the butt too. Men my age all have flat butts, so they need to be cut down a bit.

I love pre shrunk 501 jeans, they do not have to be shrunk to fit and you can dry them in a dryer without them shrinking more.
The only ones I like better are the shrink to fit which can take a while to get fitting righ,t but once they are dry they fit perfectly. But you can not put them in the dryer.

Jeans fit OK but there are buttons on the fly. Every other pair of Levis I have bought had a zipper(and I have bought a lot of them). The buttons are very hard to open and close.

I haven’t worn 501’s in about 25 years so I took a chance a bought a pair. Great fit and really comfortable but the hem is off. All of my 505’s have a nice hem like the denim is folded over 2 or 3 times but these new 501’s have a hem that only folded 1 time and only about an 1/8 of an inch wide. Definitely seems like I received a pair of seconds.

I wear 45 waist 514 Levis easily, 3 of them. I have a pair of 46" 501's that no longer fit. I purchased these 48" 501's in hope of a better fit, but the sizing is off. Again. Too tight. Even before washing. I wish Levi's would get this sizing together. I've had this problem before.

This jeans are very well made , i have been using them for long because they are very comfortable. i really love them because they are stylish and fashionable. I mainly use them for work because the material is thick and durable, in other words this pants are made to last. Another advantage is that comes in several colors and most big store sells them. They also look good as casual with shoes, boots tennis you decide. i personally recommended because is a brand that i trust and use.

I love Levi's jeans, have tried to wear nothing but because of the fit and quality materials used in their manufacture. I was only able to order one pair when I was finally able to find any in my size. The site said they had three pairs available but, I couldn't get it to accept an order for two pairs. I plan on ordering more, assuming I'm able to find them in my size.

I bought these on Cyber Monday. The fit was perfect. I wore them before washing them and the hem was a little long. After wearing them for a week (until they smelled a bit) I washed them. The hems shrunk to size and the waist stayed intact. I bought them darker than usual so the color would last longer. So far, it's working. I'm actually wearing them right now. I love 'em.

I bought three of these 501 Polished black 4 years ago. I wear them with a Clerical Shirt as I am a pastor. They could be worn formal and casual. Their color don't change as I wanted to keep the color as polished, I take them to a Dry cleaning service. My 501 keeps me in my service to my congregation and people community with flexibility in setting of liturgical traditional and very contextual. I recently bought a 501 Skinny Polished black and I love it. It fits well with an Ethnic person like me who migrated here in the US.

I bought these 501's hoping they would be like the original. They were not. They used thinner material, and they don't fit very well. I have worn 36/34 my entire life. These fit like a 32/34. For over 50 dollars, they should be a little bit better.

I've been wearing the same style for probably 50 years now. They always fit great once you find the right size. In my case its 36x40 which are hard to find. about 10 years ago the material was change to a lighter cloth. The new cloth seems to wear as well but not quite as warm.

Every time I buy 501 original I think they wouldn’t make them any thinner or cheaper. WRONG. I have been buying them my whole life, been to stubborn to change, not so now they are among the worst. My hope is they will wake up but I doubt it. I’m 75 and no longer a Levi fan. I know it took me long enough. The rest of you will find out as they WILL change again and not for the better.

received a long-awaited order to Ukraine today. after examining the jeans, I was disappointed with the quality of the jeans. the first thing I noticed is that the back pockets are not sewn correctly, the second is the uneven seam at the bottom of the jeans, and the third is that the appearance of the seams from the middle looks terrible. it seems that they are sewn by people who hastily sat down with a sewing machine.
I am disappointed with the product I received, I am not sure that I will order from this store again.

I wanted to order 505 Jeans, original fit, but Levi discontinued them last year, so I ordered the button fly 501s(same style & fit).....which I hate. I'm too old to be fiddling with buttons on my fly, especially since I have to go pretty often. Levi has forced me to go try on Wrangler jeans to try and find a substitue for the 505s I love......thank you Mr. Levi.
