      I am a wildland firefighter

      Jun 20, 2021
I am a wildland firefighter in John Day. I only had two weeks to break these boots in and they were AMAZING. They didn’t even burn when I stood in hot black and all my friends were hopping around.

      Why is there loose thread

      May 4, 2024
Why is there loose thread inside the boot? This is the second time I’ve gotten a pair of boots from you with this issue. The first pair I sent back and it feels like you sent me the same pair again. What happened to quality assurance? My season starts soon and I don’t have time to wait for another pair so I guess I’ll just pray these don’t fall apart on me. Also I was double charged for this order, while some of those charges were reversed, I don’t know why this was an issue to begin with. Also I don’t know if I was refunded the correct amount. This is the last year I’ll be wearing Danners, your company has fallen from their high reputation.

      Really disappointed in the quality

      May 12, 2024
Really disappointed in the quality particular boot. The are Boot are coming undone at the front toe. I thought the quality would be a little bit better. Don’t for see myself purchasing Wildland firefighting boots in the Foreseeable future. These boots have only been on fire line for less than 21 days.

I wish you made a women's boot!!! It would be nice to have a narrower heel fit. Still pretty stiff - don't flex well going down stairs. Otherwise comfortable.

      This boot works for me

      May 11, 2020
This boot is a game changer in comfort and support. I work Search and Rescue and this is my go to boot in all conditions that don't involve crampons. Coming from the Flashpoint boot, this is night and day. No brutal break in period, just an occasional lace adjustment here and there. You don't have the heel height but these still climb very well and the wide width is very accommodating from heel to toe. It's a bigger boot in person and it is warm. Easy on and off after long days and nights. Highly recommended for carrying heavy loads over long distance with support and comfort.

Incredibly comfortable from the get go. Great ankle support. I do large and small animal rescue behind fire lines and so far great protection.

      Amazing

      Jul 23, 2023
I have fell in love with this pair of boots. lightest most comfortable pair I've ever owned. I would totally either get new pair when these get worn out or have a them fixed because I ok ke them that much

      I work on a type

      Jul 18, 2021
I work on a type 1 handcrew. I’m a bit disappointed in the boots. Super hard to lock in the heals . When wearing these for days, your foot moves around a lot. Lots of new blisters . They don’t breath .After speaking with several other fighters this is common. Good for IA fires but terrible for the long haul. Last and only pair I will purchase I think.

Very solid boot, feels great and looks great. Love the style and comfort that comes along with it. The boot isn’t as heavy as others that I’ve worn.

      Mar 29, 2025
Best wildland fire boots I have worn in a really long time. Straight out of the box to hiking miles on the fire line with comfort.

      I have worn work boots

      Apr 21, 2023
I have worn work boots for almost 30 years. I recently moved to a job where these boots are a necessity. I have always worn a 9.5 regular in various brands. With these boots I had to buy an 11.5 EE. So after sending my first pair back for not fitting I finally found a store that carried them and bought after I tried on a pair. Would have been nice if they were sized appropriately.

      Second pair of boots. First

      Jan 21, 2022
Second pair of boots. First pair ran a half size smaller. Comfortable and effortless.

      Danner wildland boots

      Feb 12, 2020
Got a good deal on these Danner boots. If you read reviews you'll see they're a great boot for wildland fire fighting as well as every day hiking, working, etc. No break in needed. Older reviews will have complaints about the hooks breaking at the ankle. My first pair had a hook crack and I had it replaced. The pair I received from Sheplers are updated and have eyelets replacing the bottom hooks so no risk of those breaking. If you're looking for a pair of wildland fire boots and don't like the high heel White's or Nick's, these are a great option. I really don't need them but wanted to get a spare pair while they're available at a good price.

      I had to exchange these

      Jul 27, 2024
I had to exchange these for a wider pair as these were incredibly narrow. As a woman who frequently has to wear mens boots (I work in wildland fire and Danner doesn’t offer a women’s version) this has never been a problem. However, these started cutting off the circulation in my toes almost immediately. It makes me wonder who these were designed to fit?

      Mar 13, 2024
Less than two months and just over 100 miles walked and holes already formed in interior of boots near back of ankles. Very comfortable but not very durable for the price.

      They came just in time!

They came just in time! Hit the ground running, straight out to wild land fire. No breaking in needed! Super comfortable

      Aug 22, 2021
I got these as a gift for my husband. He’s had these boots before and wanted a new pair. He loves them and says they’re very comfortable. Takes a little time to break in, but once you do they’re great.

      Take the Haix

      Apr 8, 2023
The price has gone up and quality down, not sure how they’re justifying this when other companies lowered their prices for firefighters. Besides the hooks and laces being trash the roughout is also lower quality when compared to ANY other brand

      NOT FOR CREWS/HIKING

      Jul 29, 2021
Have had these boots for 8 shifts now, hiking in timber litter and DG, nothing too rough. The soles of the boots are shredding like paper, flat footed design, and there is no ankle support. I will never waste money on these again. Going to keep them for some winter projects and burning (if they even last that long) if you are thinking about switching from whites or nicks, just don't. Go with real quality, in this line of work our feet are our money makers and these danners will let you down.

      Toe box is a tad

      Oct 14, 2022
Toe box is a tad on the tight side for me but otherwise a nice boot, I haven't had to fight a wildfire in them yet but wore it around the station and in trainings and was plenty comfy.

      They tore up my heels

      Jun 4, 2021
They tore up my heels on my first long hike on a fire.

      The leather is softer than

      Jul 6, 2021
The leather is softer than I thought it would be. After two weeks it has creased everywhere and seems to have gotten weaker. There was basically no break in time; I wore them on an assignment and didn't have any trouble with break in and took only two full shifts to work in with no blisters but minor hot spots on the heels. The size seems true to size. These will only last one season but that is the constant problem I run into and one season boots seems to be the new norm. These boots will definitely work but I'm still searching for the one boot I will want to re-buy

      Jun 27, 2020
Great boots! Only complaint is that they get hot. But doesn’t really phase you when you’re doing your job.
