Bought my first 2650 GTX’s a few weeks back. Love they come in wide and since I’m also a size 14, not a fan of boots. So far (wearing lite hiker Smartwool socks), these mids have been great in the Minnesota winter and have had no issues in ankle deep snow. They stay warm and dry and grip the ice well. If your running/trail shoes can’t handle the snow (I usually wear Brooks but they don’t have GTX models in wide) this is your shoe...hikers that feel like runners! This won’t be my last pair and will probably try the lower profile style for summer months at the cabin.

Nice fit, wider for a comfortable flexible fit along the toes but snug through the arch and heel so they don't feel loose. I put in an insert and now they're comfortable and supportive all day long. Wish they could breath a bit better but that's the SACRAFICE for durability.

All the previous Danners that I’ve owned were true to size. About a third of the reviews on these said they run small and they are right. The first ones I ordered were too small but I ordered another pair a half size larger and they are great. I’ve only spent one day wearing them but they are very comfortable, so I am pleased so far.

Order a half size up for sure. Looks and feels great. They look like they would be heavy but not at all. Toe box is very roomy. My four year old pair of insulated were too warm for some outings so ordered these and I’m hopeful these will hold up just as well. Four year old pair is still completely waterproof and fully intact. My wife and I liked the look of this boot a lot, but the fit was quite odd. This shoe was said to be "True to Size," but for me, it was anything but that. I have one of the skinniest sets of feet that you will ever find on a grown man. My length in every shoe that I buy is an 11," so I bought the Trail 2650 in an 11". In order to get the boot on my skinny foot, I had to pull all the laces out of their eyelets, until the aglets nearly came out of the top eyelets. The laces were pulled as wide across the eyelets as I could get them, but still the boot was constricting my foot. I don't know what kind of last these were based on, but even Asian folks would have a hard time with this "D" width. The length was also short, and it cramped my toes in the toebox. I really liked this style, but couldn't even think about wearing it.

I had a pair of the 2650 lows previously. I prefer these as they provide a little more foot protection and support. They fit well and after spraying some Danner waterproofing on them, they still are looking good after getting dew, light rain and dirt from the trails on them. I'd give them a 5 except i had to change out the insole for a better one, now I can wear them all day long with no discomfort.

These are great boots, they’re soft and comfy. When I hike the feel sturdy but not too ridged, they have a bit of flex so you’re movement is not too stiff. My first pair of Danner. I’ll be buying more. I normally wear a 7 1/2 and that’s what I got here too.

There are great boots - I was amazed how light they were. I think they fit a bit small, I normally wear a 10.5 and I took them out on a long hike - ok going up, coming down I lost my two big toenails - definitely need a half to full size larger in length - but that’s my fault - I will reorder bigger. I typically where Keens as I have wide feet...but they are heavy.. So I went to Merril, no comfortable and North Face....too high in the heel. Did not buy them. Found you guys and I have been wearing my boots around the house and threw the box away yesterday. They fit great. Look pretty cool and the tech specs I appreciate. I have yet take these on the trail. Wore them around the house and was amazed how light and comfortable they are right out of the box. I doubt there will be any break in time. Sides soles feel like they might show some abuse from rocks, etc. Seems like a soft material. We will see how they hold up. 5 * for now.

This is my second pair of the Trail 2650 model. Great looking boots that I use for trail hiking and long walks around town. These shoes fit my feet (high arch and narrow heal) better than any other shoes I’ve owned. Very comfortable with excellent feel and ankle support. Quality of these boots is very good. The soles have very good traction and the boots are still light enough to wear for an entire day without fatigue. Thank you for making an excellent product.

I absolutely LOVE these boots. However, had to order a size 13 when my usual size of 12 didn't quite pan out after giving them a run for a couple weeks. And for that matter, the low top 2650's (which I also LOVE) did fit in a 12. I'd say these boots run a tad on the small side for a 12, especially when the low top version seems to be more what I would expect. Still though, all in all, nothing but LOVE.

This is the second pair of trail 2650s I’ve worn. The first pair were the low cut ones, non Goretex. Liked those so much I tried these for a trip to Norway. Norway is wet, steep, and rocky. These were incredible. Feet were dry and they are light nimble and the shank kept my feet happy over the stones. For big mile day hikes, these are awesome! I have a narrow heel and bunions. These have room in the toe box but lock my heel in. With the exception of Lowa boots, these are unique in their ability to hold my heel and free my toes.

Love the boots with one exception: the “rivet” on the back of the top lug jams into my ankle on both boots, even with thick socks. This was pretty painful on a hike this week in Acadia National Park. I ended up just not lacing the boot all the way up, which helped reduce the pressure but also reduced the support. Otherwise I love the boots.

These hikers held up well for two intense weeks of August big horn sheep hunting at altitude. Some of the rock wear was to be expected and the limited warmth was entirely expected. Held up well under tests of water, rain, mud and even hail. If you're looking for a nimble hiker, I certainly recommend. I would recommend getting a wider width if you have any degree of even slightly above normal foot width.

They feel hot and don't breathe as well as another pair of low top Trail 2650. The way the tongue on the shoe is made, it is difficult to get the foot in...the back collapses if you put any weight on it while getting your foot in...its like one needs a shoe horn to put them on...if the tongue opened more this could be avoided. Otherwise, I like them...nice sole, stylish, versatile and flexible.

I really my Trail 2650 Mid 4" Brown/Military Green GTXs. They are light, sturdy, waterproof and comfortable. Full disclosure, for heavy work and serious packing I have a pair of Super Rainforests (which are also wonderful). For everything else, the Trail GTXs are more than up to the task. They're much like a pair of hi-tops, but with better traction and breathability, and more comfortable.

The design, construction and quality of the shoe is evident. But the sizing is off kilter for me. I wear a size 10 in the Mountain 600, Arcadia, Pronghorn, and the Campo 2650. Yet the size 10 in this shoe doesn't even come close to fitting and is too small. When I first started wearing this shoe the size 10 fit like all the others. It seems in recent years that a design change or place of manufacture has occurred.

This hiker really supprized me. No break in neccesary. I wore them bow hunting for early season elk and they performed better than I expected. We had massive amounts of rain before the hunt the the streams were overflowing and making all the meadows around swampy and messy. Walking in water that almost went over the ankle and I had no problems with the gortex or water soaking through. Dry feet all day. Verry comfortable hiking all day as well. Strongly recomend.

Danner is unmatched. I ordered these after trying several pairs of Merrells and Keens....all of which disappointed. My biggest complaints with other boots has been fit, comfort, grip, durability. Danner meets the expectations on all of those. These boots don't need to be 'broken in', they are comfortable right off the bat. The fit is perfect, they provide good support all while being durable. I have already put in a lot of miles on these and they show no wear and tear and my feet are comfy. Other brands would have left my feet tired and blistered. The boots are definitely waterproof and the grip is really good. I would highly recommend these to any and everyone.

I am size 9 with slightly wide. Purchased 9W. By far one of the best shoes I have had the pleasure of using. My first Danner was Trail 2650 low. Used it for the 3 week Camino walking 8 to 13 hours a day. Never had an issue, no fatigue through many different types of trails. So I decided to buy another Danner. This mid model I have been using exclusively for my letter carrier job. It has saved me from many number of missteps. Traction is great, perfect through the rain, light, and comfortably flexible enough without giving up protection from hard bumps. I would recommend this to everyone.

The ankle support is very odd. If you tie the laces tight enough to offer support it hurts your ankles so you just have to keep them kind of loose. I’ve worn them for a week or so now and the black rubber coating on the toe has rubbed off pretty substantially. Disappointed in the quick degradation. Previously have been a Merrell user and I wanted to try something different. Regretting that choice.

They are beautiful shoes but in my experiences now having been using them a while is the fit is true to size but to wide if you buy them EE. No matter how hard I tie the laces up it could never be enough to prevent the heel to come up a bit. And doing a heel lock is hard on these shoes. The insoles gave out in a week. The right shoe was the first and only shoe to give me any problems. It became uncomfortable using it. The break in is nice however very quick. I took these shoes hiking and they did not preform the way I'd hope. The fabric is not firm enough (IMO) I felt my foot wanting to bend or slide when I was on uneven ground. Overall I give these shoes a 7 out of 10. They do the job but at a cost. If they were more stable like the vital trail they would be perfect (IMO). Not as tall ( 5" ) but just as stable you can feel the difference between the 2.

I tried on the shoe-height version in-store. I wear a 14 running shoe (ASICS and Saucony) but the 13 was a surprisingly great fit for me. However, I wanted more ankle support and less chance of collecting small debris, so I ordered the mid version online. I tried them on and they felt great initially, but during a week of hiking I found that the top of the shoe rides pretty tight right underneath my inside ankle bone and I couldn’t find a way to adjust the top laces to keep from getting blistered. I would have gladly accepted a little extra weight in the form of padding to spread out the pressure there. They still get four stars for the overall fit, light weight, and good grip - I didn’t slip once on a variety of trail surfaces, not even hopping from boulder to boulder while fishing - and I’ll still get use out of them so long as I don’t lace them all the way up. They performed well for me and they might be a perfect fit for someone else.

I considered the mountain 600 but not crazy about all the d ring hardware. Looking for that ankle high waterproof protection when stepping in from time to time. Thank you for listening. Comfortable fit and good ankle support; but the upper materials are so thin and flimsy that after a days wear the laces are imprinted on your foot and ankle. The tongue material is trimmed so narrow it doesn’t reach side to side. No real tongue padding, leaving laces to nearly choke off blood supply to feet. Not expecting them to hold up to any wear and tear, as too much corners on materials.

Shoes are very comfortable out of the box. Waterproof seems fine. Overall a very nice shoe. Only one major flaw.... the fabric in the toe area is bunching together, making a line of fabric above the toes on both shoes. Almost rendering them unbearable. I really want to like these shoes. But the fabric rubbing the tops of my toes is gonna kill it for me. I own a pair of tachyon as well. They too have proven defective since there is a huge bubble in the sole, rendering them useless as well.

I do a lot of hiking in White Mountains (East) and Rocky Mountains (West). I have worn Merrell for a long time, and decided to try switching brands when I needed a new pair. I've put about 15 miles on this new pair and decided to comment. Sizing was good for length. Toe box is generous and no squeezing of toes. Even on descent my foot remained firmly snug in the shoe and my toes weren't being crammed into the tip. I have wide feet so I ordered a EE, and these are still a bit snug, but I can tell there is some give and they will form to my foot soon enough. Footbed was surprisingly cushioned which is a welcome feature as I have had some lumbar disc issues in the past. The increased cushion is a noticeable difference from the Merrell I was previously wearing. Rock plate in the outsole is excellent (I tested it on some roots and rocks while on a short hike) and tread is very grippy, even on wet rocks while descending. Tread also seems very flexible so the shoe wears nicely right out of the box. Lacing system is extensive and would lend itself to customization for individual preference (tighter lower and looser higher, for example), and it held my foot very snugly ascending or descending. Also feels snug around the ankle to prevent rolling. Heel cup is quite good. I was skeptical of this at first because it appeared as only an external feature, but my heel never slipped and stayed snug. Surprisingly light weight also. Finally, craftsmanship appears to be excellent . Overall, an excellent shoe and I'm glad I bought this. I'll get many miles on these.

I purchased the Trail 2650 Mid 4" GTX hiking shoes. These shoes have the best traction I've ever experienced as I have used them in dry, wet/muddy, and snow covered/ice conditions of the Appalachian Mountains. There has been a compromise in materials to make these shoes light and the cost is durability and longevity of the product - I've worn them 4 times and they're already coming undone with signs of more to come. I've put them to the test and they sure do perform! My wish for these shoes would be for Danner to offer these shoes in a fully leather version with the same Gore-Tex lining, foot bed construction, midsole construction, and absolutely amazing Vibram outsole. I'd spend the extra money and buy them in a second!!

When I received the shoes I immediately noticed how light they were. A little difficult to put on due to the gusseted tongue but once on the shoes felt great! I have been wearing 11.5 ee danner boots for 30 years. These boots in 11.5 ee were too small in length and width. This is a considerably different last. There was also a large wrinkle in the liner that was poorly glued in. This could be felt in the arch due to the narrowness. Unfortunately I had to return the shoes. They were good looking shoes and nicely made otherwise.

I have many Danner boots. I wear a 10 1/2 and medium width. But my foot is rather narrow and in the 2650 I wear a size 11 and the width feels perfect! So I would have to say for the average person they run small and narrow, but a brilliant hiking shoe!! Super comfortable, lite with superior grip. I enjoy the mid for a more secure fit, but the height doesn't cut into your ankle like some lesser brands. If your borderline narrow, this definitely is your shoe.

Great light weight sturdy boot. My initial fit was perfect at a half size above my normal size. Customer support told me they run small and to buy larger than I usually wear. After four weeks of light sidewalk only walking, they have stretched out a little and are too large. If you feel like you are between sizes, go with the smaller option. I really like these boots for light weight hikers and running around town sneakers. The waterproof, GTX feature has already come in handy. I'm very happy with the boot, but wish I had gotten them a half size smaller.

I am a novice hiker but love to explore. I purchased the Trail 2650 Mid 4" GTX hiking boot because they were waterproof. I put them on right out of the box. They broke in very quickly , loved the weight, had great traction, and most importantly kept my feet dry. Explored all kind of terrain in the Red River Gorge area in sunshine and the rain. Comfortable out of the box. Appear to be well made. Lacing system works well, although speed lugs are too close together. Sizing runs a bit big; loose fit compared to Oboz Bridger Mid of same size (10.5 W). The Danner Mid is slightly shorter at the ankle. Waterproof in tall wet grass. The Vibram soles are excellent. For a light weight hiker these boots fit the bill. More flexible than my usual hikers but that comes with less overall support. Finding the right boot in stock has been a challenge but Danner's customer support team has been great!

Really great looking shoe that is put together very well. I wear a size 13 in nearly every style of shoe but the Trail 2650 seems to run a half size large, with that said the extra wiggle room isn’t a serious problem and the shoe feels snug enough to not worry. My only serious complaint would be about the material above the toe cap. That area for me has scratched rather easily and being the very front/top of the shoe is also the most noticeable spot. Other than that I am very satisfied with the 2650 and will be purchasing Danner products again in the future.

I own many pairs of danner footwear. The 2650 is a well made shoe, but not one of Danner's better feeling hiking boots. The toe box puts pressure on the ball of the big toe. Lite is always great, but they're too sneaker-like feeling. They're more suited for lawn walking, like Utility companies Meter Reading, than trail walking. Have had no problems with construction or waterproofing. Built well as always. Truly a trail footwear literally, not a hiking boot or shoe in any way.

These shoes are awesome. My second pair of this model, only difference is my first pair were low top. My first pair was used on the Camino de Santiago de Compostela from St Jean Pied De Port to Santiago de Compostela. 500 miles walking and they were still good to go. I did toss them because my feet stank from being wet for days. Don’t hesitate, these shoes perform. Not as soft and gummy as Altras or Topos, but I like a bit more support under my foot.

I really was looking forward to the arrival of these pair of shoes, but I couldn’t get my foot in them without a bit of a struggle. The distance from where the tung is secured to where the heal sits was not a large enough space to access the foot bed, even with the laces undone. I also gifted my Brother a pair of these style although in a much larger size and he indicated that his fit “perfectly”. Maybe mine were just one of those things that happens from time to time. Anyway, I have 4 pair of different styled Danners, (one pair going back to 1999) that I’ve enjoyed tremendously. I will be giving Danner another chance down the road I suspect. Feather light weight coupled with super cushioned soles that grip the ground for great traction in mud and rain. Seem to be truly waterproof, as I’ve had dry feet after a couple of days of heavy rain. Perfect fit, like a glove, as they say, straight outta the box.. and these shoes really cradle the foot as all the great Danner footwear is known to do. Spot on, I’ve never had a show fit better ever before. I did realize I have to loosen laces a touch to open em wide enough to slip em on, and am careful not to rip them where the tongue connects to the rest of the boot. Wouldn’t wanna be reckless by trying to yank em on too fast, as they go on just fine when you take the time to loosen those top laces and open em up a bit while sliding your heel in. Can’t tell about durability quite yet. I plan to take good care of em to get the longest life possible, though with anything that doesn’t have a stitch down sole, I always worry about how well the glue will hold up. We’ll see, I can tell I’m gonna love these hikers as long as I can make em last.

These shoes are very comfortable. I use them as every day shoes. They look good and so far have shown no signs of wear. The only thing I don’t care for is they are hard to get on. Where the tongue of the boot attaches very high on the shoe. It’s almost like pulling a sock on, this makes them very comfortable but a little aggravating to get on.

Great Boots. I've been a big fan of Danner for years, and even more so recently. I'm on my 3rd pair of Rainforests and love them. Whether I am pouring concrete, hiking, shoveling snow or hanging out they are just wonderful. The Trail 2650s are my 1st pair of lighter hikers. They are so very different from what I've come to expect from Danner. After a month of wear, I'm very impressed. They are light, sturdy, comfortable and have solid traction on rock, gravel, mud and snow. I have big wide feet and Danner does a great job with sizing options. Add that to friendly knowledgeable customer service, and I’m a loyal Danner customer.

I purchased these because I needed pair of shoes for camping. I can truly say...as a hiking shoe, they are very comfortable. They fit snug, but after a few days of walking, that snug fit actually feels very nice. Also the waterproofness of the shoe is more than adequate for walking through wet trails and creeks. The style and color are great, but the comfort and overall build of the shoe are the the real focus points folks should consider. The shoes feel like serious running shoes with serious padding. I do believe, I will be buying a second pair, in another color in a few weeks. This is one heck of a walking shoe.

Love my Danner 2650 trail shoe so I got these for heavier duty hiking on mountain trails. Work like a gem. True to fit size wise. That said, they are bit of work to pull them on. My heel gets caught on the back of the boot ... you really have to tug the pull tab to push your foot in. A minor drag because once you are in this very comfortable boot the good stuff begins. Highly recommend.

11.5 Wide. Fit is true. These are very well built, rugged. I like the Vibram lug soles for their durability. The toe box is a little flatter than I want. This rubs more on my toe tops than I expected. I have hiked these nearly 100 miles on trails in Shenandoah NP, rocky and vertical. The rand is holding up well to rock scuffs. They are rugged but lightweight. Quality built boots.

So far these are working out. When I first tried them on they felt a little narrow. So I wore them around the house for a few days. They have loosened up and the fit is I would say true to size. They are comfortable and look good. The things I don’t really like are how the tongue is stitched to the side. It makes taking them on and off more difficult as the opening is narrower. The other thing for me is where the top hook for the laces is at. The shoe height and lace hook hit tight at my ankle. So when I lace the shoe it causes it to pinch on my ankle. Not a show stopper but something to think about.

This is a great shoe! These are my dailys, i where to work where i put alot of miles on walking and they hold up great! They keep my feet dry and breathe nicely keeping my feet dry from sweat! Probably my 5th or six pair of the 2650’s They look great also, and i always have a nice pair for going out! Work, hiking, fishing. I found Danner over 10 years ago and finally the hunt was over for a good shoe/boot that i could count on and i never looked back! My only complaint is my dogs seem to like them too and have enjoyed chewing a few pair through the years!

This is really a 4.5 rating. I've put several miles on these now. Length is perfect, width through the ball of the foot is a full medium. I'd prefer a bit wider on the pinky toe side, but the toes are by no means cramped. At first I thought they could use more padding around the ankle but it's not at all necessary. A little more structure around the top lace hooks would make it easier to get laced up. Those negatives are all quite minor when considering the positives of this boot. They were comfortable out of the box and have only gotten better. They wear like running shoes; lightweight and flexible. Stay reasonably cool in temps up to 85 degrees even with the Gore-tex. The Vibram soles are grippy and very quiet. I also have a pair of the 2650 shoes (not waterproof) and I'll buy both again.

Very disappointed in these boots so I am writing the review I would have appreciated reading before commuting to these boots. Great out of the box, very comfortable and nice wide toe box which is important to me (very wide girl feet = buying men’s shoes). I hiked the PA AT from Maryland to New Jersey over the past few months. Started in the southern portion and they were a real pleasure at the beginning on non-rocky trails with light daypack. As I moved into rockier sections they wore out at an astronomical rate. Completely broke down soles and tread. When I added a backpacking trip, it was the final blow, unusable (Me with a full pack is still less weight than most men) Less than 150 miles on them before they crapped out on me. Also, while the height was appealing at first it provided me no real support and I sprained my ankles two times in them. Bottom line - good for light non rocky hikes, but make no mistake, these are glorified sneakers.

I'm getting reagy for a safari in Africa so I ordered a pair of Crispi boots because my buddy told me these were the best and they are a great boot, but not as comfortable as these Danner boots. I started wearing the Danners to work and I forget I just got them because of the comfort level. I normally don't wear high tops but these are some of the best I have used. The only small negative is the are a sort of suede texture so dirt will adhear but I just blow it off with air.

On trail: great for protecting my knees and sole of foot. If this is your goal, the cushioning is great. You can cruise. Off trail: they are clumsy. The extra width doesn't allow you to toe edges, for instance when "side-hilling." Like, imagine if you took rock climbing shoes and wrapped a bunch of foam around them -- they're not going to work very well for securing your weight precisely underfoot. After I discovered this, I went home and cut off all as much excess sole as I could around the toes. It helped a little, but the toe box is still inherently wide on the Danner's, I found out. And the shape of the toe is very blunt. I also noticed the position of the lacing doesn't suit my foot/ankle quite right. My forefoot feels more divorced from my ankle than other boots. All in all, makes me think these boots are for people with flatter feet, looking for toe spread. But still want a lot of cushion. Whereas, I have a high arch and I learned I'll take the heel and sole cushioning, but I want a tight toe box for control. My personal conclusion: I'm going to stick with my Inov-8 Roclite boots for any trips that go off trail. I'll use these Danner's for on-trail or early season when I'm not as strong and want to protect my knees or blast a ton of miles. Me: 5' 11", skinny 150 lbs, high arch feet

I had a chance to test these on the AT. I enjoyed the toe protection against the PA rocks. I have a narrow foot and felt the footed was too narrow leaving my arch with little support. Somehow this shoe kicks up an unusual amount of debris into the other shoes. Something I have not experienced with other brands.

My size is 8.5Wide. It is a snug fit. Doesn’t have any Grip on Wet Rock surface. I have slipped badly, that cut my finger to bleed. Later I tested to know if it is my mistake or the grip, found that the Shoe doesn’t have any grip at all on rock surface. Shoe is very comfortable and good for everything else but not on Wet Rocks and Boulders.. they slip easily. Not safe.

Pros: beautifully made, water proof, soft cushioning sole Cons: toe box is narrow and has a very low ceiling (I wear 11 or 11 1/2 and the 12 is too snug), need to size up, heel is too wide. There is little drop between the heel and the toe because the cushioning is too soft and gets compressed. I had to put a heel wedge in and that helped only a little. Really regret this purchase.

So I started hiking again and got these on sale. Sadly my feet have grown since the last time I walked 15 miles and I ended up with bloody toenails. I liked these so much I got another pair 1/2 size longer. I think these fit. I walked around in them at the office for a couple of weeks to break them in.. and it did take a couple of weeks. I find the shoestrings less then satisfactory. But the the shoe itself is great. It's cool enough and light enough For a hot weather hiking shoe with gore tex it's great. Would buy again

Overall fairly disappointed with this boot. It has good feel and wears comfortably, but is a bit stiff and narrow. It took about two months of regular wear and some extended hikes to break it in. After two years of light use, it has worn fairly well and now is a decent hiker (for cooler dry weather), although I would not do any extending backpacking in it. The most disappointing part is the Goretex waterproofing. I never expect a WPB boot to stay dry for too long, but this boot has been exceptionally bad. I returned my first pair when the toe started wicking water in after only a few weeks. My second pair has done better, but started leaking after a few months. Now I get significant soaking at the toes and heels within about ten minutes of walking in wet weather. Not adequate for living in the PNW. This means the boot is useless for wet weather, and too bulky and hot to use in warm weather. The "toe cap" is also basically just painted on, it scratches off at the first nick with a rock. Overall my impression is that they took the regular 2650 Trail, threw a Goretex liner in and called it good. The design and execution fall short of the premium price. In hindsight I should have steered clear after my first pair, but I'm now stuck with it and use it when I can to get some value out of it.

If you are looking for a light hiking boot that is nice for everyday use these will work for you. I've been a Keen guy for a few years and wanted to change it up this time. So far I'm pleased. The toe box is more narrow than Keen's but I have the regular size, not the wide fit. The heel of the boot really cups your ankle, which provides good support, but makes slipping them on and off more work. I love the look with the exception of the rubber support on the back, which just looks a little funny until you get used to it. Comfortable boot.

They look good and feel good. I needed a lighter weight boot for warmer weather. They fit the bill. I will install an REI sourced arch support since my feet are quite flat, though the foam inner sole is ok for moderate distance walking. the only minor complaint is that the upper most lacing hooks aren't quite deep enough causing the laces to slip out of the hooks if I'm not careful to keep tension while lacing up. There's also a lot of friction through the holes so getting out of the boots and in again is more difficult than my higher end Danner boots. I mail ordered after trying them on at the outlet in Portland; the delivery was quick.

Pros: these lightweight shoes are durable and comfortable, waterproof and breathable for my more than average sweaty feet. I can stand in them all day and love the seamless style. The toe of the shoe is durable for abrasions to handle moderate rocky terrain like those of eastern washington. Cons: right boot failed on the rear sole became separated between lower sole and bottom sole in less than six months. still a great shoe.

I've been hiking for at least 50 years (if not longer), and the Trail 2650 Mid 4" GTX is, by far, the best hiking boot I have ever worn. Right out-of-the-box comfortable and like it had been form-fitted just for my feet! I did have to order this in a man's size since this style is not available in a woman's wide (c'mon, Danner - women (and their feet) come in ALL sizes and widths!). The traction on this boot is fantastic, and as an older hiker, very much appreciated. My husband and I have been doing a lot of hiking this spring in TN and KY - and it has been a very rainy spring! However, these boots are definitely waterproof and I just plow through the creeks, puddles, and streams knowing my feet are going to stay dry. By the end of our hikes my feet are usually a little tired, but sore they are not - and THAT is the wonderful difference between a Danner boot and every other hiking boot I have worn! So when we do the R2R next year, my wide feet will be firmly (and comfortably) planted in my Trail 2650's. Thanks, Danner!

These shoes have the potential to be perfect but the pair I received fit tighter than expected and have a very uncomfortable seam connecting the tongue to the inside of the upper part of the right shoe. I have had a pair of mesh Trail 2650’s in the past as well as a pair of Full Bore, both size 9. 5, that fit perfectly so I was surprised at how much tighter this pair of shoes hugged my foot.

The boot is basically like a high top tennis shoe, very comfortable and light. Be aware of the soft sole that does not provide adequate support for rugged trails. The traction of the boot

The traction of the boot sole is the best in the business and once I get the boot on it feels great. However, it is very difficult to get into the boot. There isn't enough circumference with the boot unlaced to get my foot into the boot easily and the pull strap doesn't work because the material above the strap folds over into the boot, obstructing my heal from entering the boot. The laces do not seat well into the two top hooks, but maybe I will develop a knack for dealing with the hooks. Once my foot is in the shoe and the laces are tied, it fits great. I am not sure how I feel about the 8mm offset. In a running stance it probably helps, but in an erect hiking stance it tends to throw me off balance, not a great thing to have happen on a trail with a heavy pack. I suspect I will adapt to the fiddling with the boots when putting them on and the rest. Since the low cut 600 boots were dropped from the line, these are the only choice for my neanderthal feet in a light, waterproof boot with megagrip soles. I will probably grow to like them, but I wish the best characteristics of several Danner models could be combined into one boot. In the meantime, this is one of my best choices.

I were them not at work… My first pare I put over 2500 miles on them and exactly one year. I am an electrician working indoors and outdoors during the spring and summer. I have tried different brands to keep the moisture out and my feet cool. Nothing compares to these boots. These are by far the best “boot” I have ever worn. They are light and breathable. I don’t need steel toe for work so it’s a different feel. I have had these on everyday for 4 weeks and you would have no idea! They look brand new. Perfect work shoe for someone that does not need steel toe but does need breathable, water proof and comfortable footwear.

This is my second pair…the others are low mesh gtx. The good: the mid in leather has good support and the unique combo of trail runner and hiking boot is really successful, even with a pack up to 30bs in rough terrain. Needs work: the way the gor-tex bootie is stitched where the tongue meets the laces creates an irritating pressure point on the top of the foot. The Vibram sole is really grippy, but I think it wears too fast at the heel for a shoe this costly and could be thicker here. Overall, it’s a great boot that could use some tweaks to make it stellar.

This is the worst boot I have ever owned. I work outside for a living cutting grass and these didn’t even last a year. I’ve had timberland boots and other hiking boots that lasted at least a year if not two but these not only cost more but total garbage. The sides are busted out and bottom sole coming off. Will never buy this brand again. I thought spend a little more night last longer total opposite

These are my second pair. The first pair are still in service for yard work after 15 months of daily wear (4 mile/day average per iPhone) with a little help from shoe goo to rebuild the heel. I don’t ever leave reviews. I am former military and am into boots more than most. I picked up these Danners to hike 14ers in Colorado. These are the best boots I’ve ever worn. Jesus would be honored to ditch his sandals for a pair of these Danners. Light, comfortable and waterproof. If there is a con to these, they are a bit warm for summer hiking. Other than that, they are perfect in every way, just like my wife.

This is my first pair of Danner boots and I’m in love. Hiked the Grand Canyon rim to rim in a day in the snow and mud. Had zero foot fatigue and my feet stayed dry the whole team. About 5 miles of total trail was in about 4-5 inches of snow and my feet felt great. Tread was amazing too. Didn’t slip once while friends slipped many times on the hike. Seriously can’t say enough great things about these boots.

The one issue I had was that if you are hiking and or working in an area that has a lot of fine sediment and or sand (like the Mojave Desert) the fine sediment can work its way in to your boot lining through the mesh heel portion of this boot. Once it is in there it is pretty difficult to get out with out slicing the inner lining of your boot.

Bought these boots for a family trip to Park City, Utah..from Florida. Have walked about 15 miles in 3 days, snow, slush, ice, etc. Feet have stayed dry, fit (13E) was perfect out of the box. Super comfortable.

They were very tight when I tried them on. Had to wear them around the house to get them to conform to my feet . Finally decided to keep them. And the shoe laces were one foot too short I couldn’t tie them, had to replace them to be able to tie. Other than that they are very nice. I do like them.

I just got back from a 20 mile hike on the Appalachian Trail. The boots were very comfortable for the most part. I have one problem on the left Foot after about 15 miles the shoe wore in such a way That it felt as if there was a rock or a stick under my foot. I examined the shoe to see if there was any sticks or rocks in it. And I could not find any the problem was with a seam that goes on the side of the shoe. See picture. This scene put pressure on the pad of my foot and would not give. The result is my foot is bruised because I had to continue walking five more miles and these boots. Have you come across this problem before? Do you have any suggestions of things I can try to solve the problem? Other than that, these boots are great.
