I own 2 pair, black & brown. the brown fits a bit different than the black (the black colorway are a bit looser & wash better.) the brown pair softens after wash. so far the ripstop fabric has been successful. I have tear's in both pair. it won't stop punctures (it never was intended to) but they'll hold up to whatever you throw at them. the right enforced pocket is nice. I can put my drill there and not worry about my pocket ripping off. all the pockets are top notch. the crotch is comfortable. I put a pair of aviation snips in the cargo pocket, they punched right through lol, but if you don't do stupid stuff like that, the pants will do you very well! :) also, the knee pads are comfortable.

They are awesome pants and would recommend them to anyone.

I work in the vegetation managment industry and reliable pants is a must for me these pants and very reliable and super durable i have wore this style of pants for 3 years now and i will never buy anything else well worth the money

Would be nice to have the cargo pockets a little higher on the side of the pant so they don't hit my knee when full. Would like to see a larger gusset on the large pocket to make room for more stuff. The ease of your mail order needs some work, ie. Size exchange needs to be more user friendly, I took them back to your Boise store to get the correct size.

The Cargo jeans are really great, with one slight exception; the side pocket seam is exactly at the knee, causing abrasions on my old knee caps. I'm not sure how to fix this, but intend to buy some more. David A Williams

For over a decade now I've worn the B342 pants and have loved them...I have worn many pairs to absolute threads. These new pants are not anywhere near the same league. The fabric does not feel the same , or wear the same. The hammer loop is an absolute useless travesty, won't even fit a child's hammer. I'm so dissatisfied!!

I love the fit of these pants, and they are very durable. What I don't like about these is the odd sizing of the utility pockets, and how low the cargo pocket is. I regularly put a screwdriver in one of the utility pockets and these are too small to fit it. Also, If I put my phone in the pocket it hits or rubs on my knee cap. This day and age they should make a pocket specifically for your phone.

Pants look great. Love the double knee. Im 6'1" 210lbs. Thicker in the middle. These are not relaxed fit. Which in turn makes the side pockets useless. The side pocket is a tad low in my opinion. Put a gusset in the crotch and that will help with the "straight cut" of these pants. Overall a solid 3.8. Maybe i should lose 10 lbs and they will fit better LOL.

When my 5’6” husband first tried on the pants, they looked great, seemed durable, and fit true to his size both in waist and length. After coming home from a full day on the job site after wearing them for the first time, though, he had a drastically different story to tell. The project pockets were not very accessible due to the fact that they are located too far down the pant for a guy with shorter arms. The length fit great, but the pockets on the pants are still in the same location as they would be on a longer length of pant. Worse than the pockets, however, was that fact that each time my husband had to do work on his knees, he had to take the time to shift his pant legs to the side in order to not have his kneecaps on the seams of his pants. Otherwise, it would be a painful experience kneeling. The knee area of the pants also caused considerable chafing. He said that his legs still felt raw as he was going to bed that night. We would not recommend these pants for shorter guys.

Good fit, so far. True to size. Lots of pockets, haven't figured what they are all for yet. There is not one sized for my smart phone, bigger or smaller. Can't tell about durability yet, only worn them a few times, but time will tell. My wife likes the look, so what better review than that?

My husband finds these very comfortable and versatile. He can wear them to work, but also if we are going out to a casual restaurant or friends' houses. He especially likes all the pockets so he can get to his phone without having to unload his wallet, keys etc. I will note that if you are in between on waist sizes (ex. a 39, instead of a 38), you should order the next size up (ex. a 40) if you want a comfortable fit.

I am trying to find pants to replace Levi’s so I have a place to keep my phone. These seem to be what I am looking for.

After accidentally purchasing professional series workpants, they ripped on me and I purchased these with the store credit. Much, much more heavier, thicker and durable feeling than the prof. Series. After a day of work these are what I have been looking for! Tough as nails double fronts are less comfortable than twill, but much more rugged and snag-proof. Always do your research, it was my fault for buying non-worksite quality pants. These are lightyears more durable.

Very nice fit, not too baggy like the wrangler rustler. Also the pocket openings are larger and more ergonomic to get stuff out versus the wranglers. Been wearing them for a month and they are great. Also these pants can hold a real hammer on the side leg. Couldn’t say the same for Wrangler. Don’t know what they were thinking putting such a small loop.

Nice pants, comfortable and durable. I bought 4 pairs and on 2 pairs one of the side pocket rivets doesn’t snap closed - kind of a bummer. When I bend down on my knees sometimes the corner of the outside-side pocket lands under my knee and is painful. However that might just be my body type. Had great customer service as well.

Love the design, pockets, heavy material and ripstop pattern. Love the snaps. My only gripe is that the color washes out pretty easily, and I wish they came in a true dark brown color - these have a greenish tint to them. They do take up dye pretty easily if you want to change the color, and they look fantastic freshly dyed, but you will have to redye fairly frequently. Would like to see these exact same pants made in a heavy synthetic ripstop fabric that holds color and doesn't fuzz up. I like to buy a size that's a little too snug, because they stretch out and fit perfect about 15 minutes after you put them on, and I like the slim look, not baggy. Overall though, these are my favorite pants. The shorts version of these are also awesome.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am 6’2” about 175 pounds and i ordered a size 30-32 and the length and cut is perfect. the only thing is the cargo pockets are a little tight and hard to access. That is probably due to the pants being new and not worn in too much. Overall I love the pants and my company is now looking into outfitting the whole staff in these pants.

Recently bought two pair of the rip stop work pants and one of the pair has the side pockets and double knee sewn on way too low. Pockets are way far down my leg and when I kneel down there is a huge seam on my knee cap now. I have bought the same pants from carhartt for 10 years. Might have to look somewhere else.

These pants are great. I work in construction doing lots of framing and siding. I wore them several times a week and they last over a year. The snaps on the cargo pockets are much better than velcro. The fit is great for moving around on a construction work site.

Bought these and loved wearing them. Later bought the Carhartt knee pads as these pants are double front. However, the pockets are sewn through the double front so the knee pads can’t be inserted over your knees. Best I could manage was to get them in on the inside of the legs. Pretty useless there. Both legs were the same and it was not just a random seam. All the pocket stitching went through the double front. Would love to have a pair after the manufacturer learns how to assemble them correctly.

I really appreciate these pants. The knee pads are a lifesaver. I have now bought 5 pairs with knee pads. I love how you can wash with the knee pads in. What a time saver not having to put in and out like others I have purchased.

I have paid up to 80% more for other popular brands of cargo (tactical) pants and Carhartt's Style #B342 is as good or better than competitive options in design, materials, fit and overall quality.

All of them are so good looking my wife won't let me wear them to work outside. I have to wait till all my Levi's and blue work shirts are in shreds before I can start using my official work clothes from Shepler's. Fortunately I was able to get my boots on and into the dirt before she noticed. Thanks a lot, guys.

only negative thing is the pockets should be reinforced,took 3 years to do it but my left cargo pocket has a hole in it

I'm very happy with the pants overall, the length, waist, and leg fit was just fine, the mid thigh area (about the bottom of the pocket hole elevation wise) was too tight, especially for relaxed fit, but I have fairly large thighs so I have to hunt for pants that aren't tight around the thighs.

Extremely thick definitely meant for a colder weather

Used this maybe once or twice a week for almost two months and a hole started to tear in the bottom of the thigh pocket. The fit says relaxed but this fit much more tight than my other car hart relaxed pants in the same size. They are nice though on the hotter days because the fabric is more thin.

Best pants the brand makes in my opinion. Perfect for me and my job. Great pockets as well.

So far they are really working well, with a great true to size fit.

I bought these pants to wear while riding my motorcycle. The relaxed fit keeps them comfortable while riding. The ripstop fabric does well to cut the wind on cool days and it feels thick enough to offer a small level of protection from road rash. I really like the mechanical fasteners on the cargo pockets; this allows me to carry things in my pockets without fear of them falling out. I'm very happy with these pants and will buy them again when the need arises.

Pants a very comfortable. Can't really use the pockets for much if you have to do a bunch of bending. The light weight material burns up pretty easy under grinding and /Or torch cutting.

Cargo pockets too small. Contents press against legs for uncomfortable fit.

These are very tough pants. I like all of the pockets and the hammer loop. However, The cargo pockets are in the wrong location. They ride too low and whatever is in the pockets bangs into your knees all day long. if the hammer loop and cargo pockets were about 4 inches or ao higher these pants would be perfect. I guess I will have to go back to the carpentar pants. they dont have as many pockets but atlteast they are in the right location. Work on it Carhartt.

I have rotated three pairs of these in highly active workdays for five years. They can stand up to the worst of it.

Love the fact I can insert the knee pads. Only problem is that the stitching from the cargo pockets does not allow the knee pads to sit in place properly. Occasionally causing me some discomfort. Maybe trimming the knee pads will work. FYI I have not worn the pants without the knee pads.

After excellent experience with first two pairs of these pants I bought 3 more. Fit completely different. cargo pockets are too small for real life work and the fit in the thigh decreased. These are work pants and considered to be just like any other tool. It would be nice if I could rely on Carhartt like I do my pickup or my table saw.

Would definitely recommend, true fit, first couple wears they have that rough feel to them but after a couple times being washed with fabric softener they are perfect, and keep me warm in the harsh Michigan winter, have two pairs and will be purchasing more.

Even as a woman I recommend it; I buy "mens" as they wear better and last longer, and the "Relax Fit" is just fine.

The seams on the legs didn’t match up on both sides with one seam being an inch or so higher than its counterpart. Overall they seem really durable. Not as comfortable as the flannel lined set, but still a great pant. The pocket for the knee pads is kind of awkward. Not really sure how to use it. Not a very functional addition.

Saddened to say that my pants ripped after just a few months of wear. I was under the impression that Carhartt’s were made to be durable and this clearly wasn’t the case. These were worn for casual use (no labor) and they still pulled apart at the crotch. Very disappointing.

I love these pants. I have tried out numerous styles of work pants for carpentry work and these suit my needs the best. I don't even need a tool belt anymore. I utilize the array of pockets and the hammer loop and the reinforced tape measure pocket. However, the 2 spots that wear out the quickets are the hammer loop and the tape measure pocket. I am about ready to order my 5th pair, but on all my previous pairs, it's been the hammer loop that tears off (after about 10 months of use or so), and then the tape measure pocket starts splitting and becomes unuable. I have 2 of these pants that are still usable right now and I have alternated use wearing them 5 days a week (and some weekends) for a year now, and they are both getting holes in the knees and the middle area. There may be more durable pants out there, but these are the most comfortable and flexible I have ever come across. With finish carpentry, I am constantly on my knees and performing a lot of up&down motions every day. I don't think I would choose a different pants selection. One other oddity is that I purchased a khaki color and a brown color (same size and all) but the brown pants fit a bit tighter. But all pants are like that. So no biggy. I am majorly bummed that the store I have been purchasing these at no longer carry this particular pant. They have the firm/inflexible duck pants now.

I've been wearing Carhartt work clothing for a long time. These new pants live up to Carhartt's reputation for making long wearing and comfortable work clothing. I've recently been working on a scaffolding. These pants have enough room so it is easy to go up and down. Plus they look really great!

Gusset Crotch: great. Double Front: perfect Relaxed Fit: Not as much I would have liked. I'm not expecting bell bottoms, but I was hoping for a straight leg / boot cut, something that wouldn't grab at the calves. I don't think I have monster legs, but I was hoping for a little room. Otherwise... they keep the world safe from my skin's blinding glare.

I get a little nervous about exposed metal buttons brushing up against stuff while I’m working, thus the 4-stars.

I love these pants. I have about 10 pair I use mostly for work. I only buy the "Black" and "Dark Coffee" colors. I order size 30X30. I've been buying these pants for about 7 years. I've purchased the "Dark Coffee" at a retailer years ago and it fit PERFECTLY...then I started ordering the "Dark Coffee" directly from Carhartt and they're HUGE. I had to have a local taylor bring in the waist AND hem the length. The "Black" pair I bought directly from Carhartt is true to size in the waist but, too long. The "Dark Coffee" has a more "Relaxed Fit" than the slimmer fit of the "Black." Pants are "Made in Nicaragua."

The designer seems to believe that my thigh with a 30" inseam is the same length as someone's thigh who has a 36"+ inseam, placing the cargo pockets half below my knees...the front seam for the cargo pockets also bisects my knee caps, making it important to kneel very carefully when I have to set up the rack to lift a car/truck...I love the way they fit otherwise, and they look great...this is the last pair of this particular style I buy from Carhartt, though I will continue to buy your (mostly) great work pants, as this is the first time I've had cause to complain, though the lack of availability of 35" waist in much of your offerings does tend to limit the scope of my options.

These are the best work pants I have ever purchased. Very rugged, flexible, lots of pockets and fit great!

As others have noted, there are a couple of things that could make these a lot more comfortable for day-to-day use. The side pockets are quite deep/long, and start too far down the leg. As such, you need to bend over to put stuff in/take out from the cargo pockets, and the pocket seam ends up right at the knee, which would be annoying/uncomfortable if you do that for any length of time. If anyone from Carhartt is listening, it would be much better if the top of the side pockets started about 2" higher, and the pockets were about an inch shorter. That would solve both problems identified above. For those who complain about using knee pads with these pants, I don't know what they are talking about, as these are not designed for pad inserts, as there is no opening in the doubled-up portion of the front to insert them. For my purposes, which is winter, around-the-house, dog-walking jeans, they will perform more than adequately. I'd have preferred a slight taper to the leg, but given that they are designed to be work pants, I understand that straight legs are probably more appropriate. Overall fit it is good, and would work well for the more athletically built guys (I am more of a normal/slim build).

This quality pants suitable for work can also be wear at almost any occasion.

I have 4 pairs of these pants because of how awesome they are. They're tough, with great pockets and fit great except for one MAJOR flaw; All 4 pants I own have the exact same problem, no room in the buttocks. As if Carhartt expects everyone who wears these to be flat as a board. I tolerate it because they're perfect for where I work, but I don't plan to buy any more of these unless they change the design. It seriously makes it difficult to move around.

Absolutely love these, they are exactly what I expected from Carhartt a durable work pant that is comfortable. Maybe some different pockets on the leg would make them a little more functional but other than that couldn't be happier with them.

I bought one pair of these pants 6 months ago figuring I would give them a try. I was tired of wrecking all my jeans at work. I work in Building and grounds maintenance for the City of Toledo. My job duties vary greatly from day to day. These pants are comfortable year round. Durable beyond anything I have tried previously. My only complaints would be that they are not available in dark or navy blue and the hammer loop is on the left hand side.

Comfortable, durable and my wife says it makes my butt look good. Now need to buy another pair.

Enough separate pocket holes on cargo pockets for multiple tool storage. Really comfortable to wear and durable to the touch. Extra, durable, reinforced material on right pocket corner where tape measure or knife would clip. When you run or jog, things in the cargo pockets don’t fling around and hit you in the knee, and instead remain in their appropriate “compartment”. These are my new go to pair.

The pants fit well, are durable, tough and hold up to abuse.

Only two minor issues prevent me from giving a five star rating. First, the second layer added to the front of the legs wears considerably faster than the rest of the pants. Yes, it prevents holes in the balance, but the wear pattern is the same on all of my pants, and that of co-workers. The second issue is the color selection. I would like to see gray added to the non-lined version.

Waist sizes seem to run small. I ordered 33x32, and couldn't wear them. Measured 31.5" from button to button hole.

Great trousers. The cargo pockets are large enough for what I carry. One nit , the snaps on the cargo pocket flaps are very difficult to fasten. Velcro would be a better way to fasten the flaps.

Size runs a bit small and fabric is heavy and stiff. Maybe after a few washings they may soften up some. Lots of pockets and deep, which is a big plus.

Greatest pants carhartt makes. Got the crotch gusset and plenty of useful pockets. The double front is also a great feature.
