    It’s perfect keeps me warm. The only thing I didn’t like is that some of the stitching was off especially for the price I paid, so I have to make sure not to pull on the left over string but other than that keeps me warm and dry from the rain.

Enough room to even wear a decent mid-layer or vest and still be able to breathe without limiting your movement. The cordura fabric is a great addition to the jacket as well as the detachable hood.

    This jacket is probably without question the best I've ever owned. Heavy duty, flexible and overall a great looking jacket. If your looking to buy a jacket that is reliable and made to last I strongly recommend Carhartt full swing.

    Disappointing. Got this coat from my wife for Xmas. She ordered the right coat, in the right size, and relaxed fit because I am slender and the loose fit looks a bit ridiculous on me. Tried the coat on and realized it fit like a loose fit jacket. All of the exterior tags labeled the coat as a relaxed fit, yet the the collar tag in the coat labeled it as loose fit. Now I have to send back an item that i need for work in the michigan winter. Coat would have fit great if it were actually the relaxed fit that was ordered. Really hope this mislabeling issue doesn't happen again.

    [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This jacket is great! It's very comfortable to wear, has plenty of room for when working in. The corduroy collar is great when you have the hood on, and the inner sleeves inside the outer sleeves is genius! It also keeps me very warm and dry when working outside for extended hours in 30 degree weather. The insulation rating is great, but wish they had a higher rating for temperatures below 20 degrees. So far, the material has really held up, no rips or anything like that. I'm 5'10" and bought the medium, mainly because I wear medium in everything else, but the jacket fit a little big, which I found to like. It gave me room to wear a lighter sweater underneath or to fit over my coveralls. Overall, the jacket is great! Definitely would recommend if someone needs a warm/dry jacket to work in.

    Impressed with the durability, wearability, functionality and overall good looks of this piece. Kudos to the design team on creating a functional and fashionable jacket that stands up to rain and wind. Did not take long to break in and carries the feel that I've had this for years.     I've been buying Carhartt for a few years, and have been relieved that I don't have to wear 'mountain equipment' anymore (I don't go to the mountains). Similarily, Carhartt has been the 'working man's' attire for some time, and with good reason. But there hasn't been something for the Urban commuter until recently. In the last few years, the evolution of Carhartt jackets for people like me has gone in a great direction, and I'm super happy to support such a great company for such great quality clothing. The Full Swing Steel fits me like no other coat I've worn. I'm 6'3 and 'lean', so I was a bit shocked when the Medium fit me like a glove. Next, this coat works in 60F as well as it does in 15F - which I found out last week here in Denver. In both cases, a light cotton t-shirt or long-sleeve is all you need. Lastly, the little details make this jacket - the re-enforced cuffs (great for slinging a backpack around to/from the office and the bus), the pocket configurations (perfect for cell/bus tickets), and even the improved drawstring clips. I've only been through one light snow/rain, but don't have any doubts the canvas material of this jacket will stand up to whatever is in store this winter. I got another compliment on this jacket just last night...

    I was worried the sleeve would be short cus the suggested was tall. I rarely buy tall unless the shirt is a skinny fit then I may buy a XL Tall. My regular size is L. I’m 6’3” about 195lbs, chest 44 and waist 34. Sleeve from shoulder to wrist is about 24”. My order was L and it fits just right on sleeve, relaxed it reaches my palm. Body length is on my waist just above carhartt pant pockets. Also has room for layering. I have an under shirt, thermals and a hoody underneath jacket, and still have room to move. Love it!

    Purchased this as an Christmas gift my wife will be giving me then. Product is true to size, fits properly and the full swing design allows you to perform plenty of outdoor activities in not so good weather. The jacket is well constructed and I do not foresee any issues with that. The side pockets might take some getting used to as they are a snap of some sort.

    I highly recommend the "Full Swing" line! The flex & comfort is unrivaled! I'm a woman & in the past, i've never been a fan of Carhartt jackets. I found them too bulky & stiff but i purchased these for the guys in our office (& one for myself) for Christmas & they're great! The Full Swing "technology" really makes a huge difference, i have yet to feel restricted when trying to do anything. I deducted a star from appearance due to the little metal grommets on the pockets... i think the jacket would look nicer without them but that's personal preference. The pockets are nice & roomy & i love that the hood is detachable.

    Fit Great, had to alter arm length for me,.. no problem altered just fine. I would buy another,..different color for me personally I don't like the logo where it's at a little to prominent look,.. Carhartt's a great company, for me though just put the logo a little less prominent. Tim

    I like it a lot. It’s warmer and lighter than the old style jackets and for sure waterproof . Very comfortable and fits perfectly. Only thing I would add is deeper Velcro pocket inside on the left like the old jacket.

    Got this for my husband for work. He is a welder. He sprayed it down with a good coat of Scotchgard and though it's not FR for the price it gets the job done while keeping him warm. He particularly likes the reinforcement around the sleeves, the removable hood, and that the lining on the collar is soft. It doesn't rub his face raw when he turns it up to put on his welding helmet.

    Nice little jacket. It's a jacket. The warmth rating system carhartt uses is bogus. Level 3 "warmest" is not the warmest. Level 4 is warmest. This was bait and switch and is basically a windbreaker folks. Be advised.

    Great Jacket, but ZIPPER IS JUNK!

    Great jacket, but the zipper is junk. Way too small. Impossible to just reach down, hook it and pull it up. In addition, the zipper hangs at every little wrinkle. You have to pull the jacket straight at the bottom to get the zipper up. I've had this jacket just 2 weeks and already the zipper feels rough. I expect it will fail soon. It seems that all the newer Carhartt outer garments have these smaller zippers. I have at least 20 Carhartt garments, some that are at least 25 years old. Never had an issue with the zippers until the last 5-6 years. Compare the zipper of this Ripstop jacket to that of a 10-year-old Carhartt Santa Fe jacket in the attached photos. It's a shame!

    Great Jacket with very tough materials. I used this for some fence repairs in the winter cold and felt my jacket catch on nails sticking out; upon further inspection, my jeans were torn but my jacket was completely fine. Can't do better than that! Also, very warm and the extra back material makes it super easy to move in.

    just got this. Tarmac - size small. Great fit all around. Hood is roomy, useful not not too big... good visor. Cuffs in sleeves keep you warm. As advertised, easy to move, swing an axe, etc. warm but not too heavy. Probably the best detailing and look of any Carhartt I have bought. I will keep my other Sherpa jacket for dirty jobs & this one for the others. I'm 5'6", fit, slim athletic build. could fit a polar fleece under to stay warm down to 0-10 deg, as needed.

    Super hardy and warm! I like the fit too. I'm 6'3" and 270lbs and went with the XL Tall. Fit is roomy enough to layer yet streamlined enough to not look bulky. For the first time in my life the sleeves are a little too long. I like the draft busting elastic inner sleeve but the outer gets wet and soapy when I wash my hands. It's a small annoyance but hardly shadows an otherwise great jacket. The hand pockets are warm and roomy. There's plenty of useful pockets throughout. I really dig the hardiness of the Cordura parts. You can tell this jacket is made for work.

    My Favorite Carhartt Jacket Of All Time (Many Decades Worth)

    I've been wearing Carhartt garments since Ms. Valade was in high school. This one is my favorite. It is a great jacket. The Full Swing feature is fantastic. The large hood is very convenient, as it holds my hard hat to my head. The water-repellant coating has remained for months, despite repeated washings, snow showers & rain showers. And, it is warm, but not hot, in a very wide range of temperatures. Regarding temperatures, I can wear this with a tee shirt from abut 60-F to 30-F. Below 30-F, I add a flannel shirt or denim shirt. Below about 10-F, a tee shirt & sweatshirt are fine. Below about (-)5-F, I wear the Carhartt Ranch Coat. I never am too hot, nor too cold. It's a great wind stopper, too. Fit is different than my other Carhartt jackets & coats. This one has very long sleeves. But, the lower portion is free of the shell, so I tuck those inside. It's got plenty roomy for swinging- hence the name. I'd change the inside pockets, eliminating the goofy, angled inside pocket for another junk-bucket pocket. But that is purely opinion. The outside phone pocket fits even my giant phone in a me-proof case. No other jackets have fit it yet. The main zipper works well, but it will fail, as do all Carhartt zippers made since the 1990's. They are the one weak point. And, they're inexpensive to replace. What is my favorite feature? The cuffs and lower back (tail) are covered with Cordura, a "forever" fabric. They will never, ever wear out. You can't abrade your way through if you tried- as we did on some samples. (I've had to junk jackets due to cuff & tail wear-through.) My least favorite features- The Velcro type closure on the inside pocket. It is hard to pull open & the stitching failed the first week because the Velcro type stuff is stronger than the threads. And, I'm not a fan of the little zipper pull on the phone pocket. It gets lost in the zipper cover. I put a tiny keyring on the pull & the problem is solved. Neither of the problems are worth taking away a star. I hope they continue to make this jacket so others can benefit from it's durability & design. I won't have to because it's made so well that the jacket will out live me.

I’m 6-4” with a 73-74” wing span but the sleeves on this jacket go passed my knuckles which was a real Surprise for me. The saving grace was the cuffs kind of fold back so a more comfortable position. But the jacket fits great keeps me dry and so far has kept me warm. I haven’t really been in very cold weather in it yet but I am confident I’ll be good. Also the removable hood is great! I’m giving 5 stars for durability but I’ve only had the jacket for a couple weeks. FYI

    This jacket is wonderful. Warm, no binding, decent weight, love everything about it. It's my go to for jumping into the plow truck when I might have to break out the shovel! I run very hot (all the time) and I think that this is a great jacket for me so far. Sweating in it doesn't feel damp or sticky. Thank you Carhartt! My ONLY piece of feedback is it needs a screwdriver pocket on the outside/arm. Not a complaint, but would be nice to have it externally.

    So far it's great. Feels warm and comfortable. I don't sweat in it. Water bounces right off like magic, the layering and stitching is superb. My only issue is that the sleeves are a tad too long where the inner sleeve rests past my wrist making the outer sleeve cover my hand a bit. Other than that great build and fit.

    I usually wear a Medium in Carhartt coats / jackets, however for this one I had to wear a Large. I am 66" (that's 5'6" to clarify the confusion) and roughly 185ish. Fits perfectly. Nice and warm, cuts the wind, and you can easily wear a hoodie underneath it if needed (Carhartt hoodie of course!). Its good to know the fabric wont rip easily due to the Cordura and cuffs are reinforced as well! Great job on this one Carhartt!!

    Great warm coat, perfect for easy on and off at work. Throw on a sweatshirt underneath for extended periods in the cold. 6’2 185 and a large fits me almost perfect, only wish is that it had another inch or two in body length for windy Iowa days.

    Too long for wearing with a tool belt. I was looking for a jacket like my old Carhart jackets. Something that I could wear with my toolbelt that wouldn't get in the way of me accessing my tools. My old jacket was 26" long in the body. All the new jackets are 29" long. Returning my coat and looking for a new brand.

    Perfect size XL. I'm 5'11" 195lbs. It is nice and warm in 20° weather It is super comfortable with the swing arms I'd recommend any of their full swing arms, there is no resistance just easy arm movement

    I ordered the jacket for my son, he works construction and lives on a farm. It arrived in only 4 days. I ordered a 2XL tall for him, he's 6' 5" and weighs 195lbs. It's a little large, but it has room for layering, the sleeves and length are a perfect fit for his long torso and arms! He loves it!

    I'm writing this review to save others the trouble I caused myself by ignoring some of the comments of other reviewers about the length of the arms. I thought that maybe they were sent to "tall" version by mistake, or perhaps the arms were just long on medium and up, and I was ordering a small. I really REALLY wanted to love this jacket but the arms are so long they make me look like a child wearing his father's coat. I'm 5'6 145lb and the fit on the rest of the jacket was fine. No room to layer for me, but that's ok. I normally wear 32" arm length dress shirts, so if that sounds close to you, watch out for these sleeves. Yes, they can be rolled up, but then you expose the nylon taffeta underneath and that will get wet/worn. Not good. Since they make a "Tall" version of this same jacket, I really don't see the reason for the arms to be this long. I can't imagine how long the arms are on that!

    I like how the hood is detachable, so I can use it if needed. Great movement abilities and the reinforcement on the typical areas that get worn out is nice. Jacket is plenty warm and fits well. I really like this jacket.

    Not sure why you changed the material my old jacket 10+ years old collier wore out all else still like new. Tries to replace it several years back did not offer it without hood. Was hoping for the same fabric, Since not used it yet cannot comment on how the new fabric will wear. Had several of the Duct jackets fabric only lasted 2-3 years max.

    I originally purchased the Quick Duck Chore coat this fall. I was not at all impressed with it and went from the ups straight to store to return while in the USA. I happened upon this coat and tried it on, instantly felt it was the coat to purchase. Since then I have worn this coat every day for work and some play. It is both light yet warm. Flexible and resilient. Have washed it three times so far with no colour loss or visible wear. In Ontario currently it is -12 F (-27 with windchill) and this coat hasn't let me down yet. For the past 5 years I've worn and abused the womens first generation Quick Duck Jefferson Coat (oh yea, I'm a woman 5'9" 190lbs and wear a large if any ladies are reading this looking for a good coat - I expect it to outwork my old coat and in comparison to other womens coats available at this moment I do not see a comparable option should you find the fit agreeable) Great coat. Give it a go.

    This is the best Carhartt jacket! I like the removable hood, and lining at the cuffs. No wind getting up the sleeves! It's very comfortable, allready "broken in". All around a great jacket. I would definitely recommend it. The pocket openings are a little high, but it's not a deal breaker. Even the pockets are lined to be warm.

    Really nice jacket and I really wanted to love it. I received this just in time for my fiancé to wear at work after an I’ve storm hit and left thousands without electricity. He had to work a lot of overtime to cut down limbs to assist get people’s power back on. He loved it and he said it was comfortable and kept him warm and dry. The only problem is the durability. The seam on the top corner pocket started to unravel and I don’t even know how that happened after only wearing it a few days even though this is a working mans jacket. I’m pretty upset that I gushed on and on how this would be a great jacket for work but the seams are already coming undone. Pretty disappointed.

    I love this jacket! It is super warm and comfortable. I ordered a size up from what I normally wear, so that I can layer up underneath. The material is great for snow, because it repels water well. I like that the hood is detachable. The length and fit is perfect and the fit flexes in all of the right spots.

    Zero complaints, flexibility is very nice, very comfortable, the quilted lining doesn’t feel as warm as the sherpa, but it is still very warm. Have not had the opportunity to try out the water resistance, but I can say I am happy with the initial fit and function. Really like that I can remove the hood, and it has a nice collar, just adds to the flexibility in uses. These jackets run large, so bump a size down for proper fit, I am XL in every other brand, but Carhartt shirts / jackets I am a Large.

    This jacket is decent for a jacket with a synthetic shell but had I known that the cuffs are as wide as the sleeves, I would not have made this purchase. It's not practical to wear this jacket without winter work gloves on. Why would Carhartt stop making the Armstrong Style# 103370? Why would Carhartt no longer offer a 100% cotton shell full-swing jacket??

    Received a Carhartt Cryder jacket for Christmas liked it but decided to venture off to the mall searched five stores and many more brands, on my second visit to Carhartt I discovered the Steel Jacket In tarmac, loved the style and color, it has warm deep pockets with sharp rivet reinforcement, wind protected zipper with snap closure, black corduroy collar, all functional all stylish. My wife’s first comment was ‘people don’t work outside in a nice jacket like that’. Last night replaced defective caliper rotor & pads on rear wheel, tough job in brisk wind 25 F layered with extra flannel shirt, this is not a winter parka but a heavier coat would have been too bulky. Spot cleaned one small area and returned my wife’s nice present to a hanger in the closet. Cordura fabric blend has great look, tuff stuff and cuffs need traditional soft corduroy linings

    I had this jacket for one full winter in South Dakota. Not beating the jacket up on a job site or anything like that just wearing it to keep warm out ice fishing hunting and just for a normal winter jacket. It’s warm and does the job my complaint comes from it’s durability. Already after one season the lining that attaches the sleeve of the jacket to the cuff the arm goes through to keep a tight fit around the wrist has ripped away from the stitching so every time I put it on my fingers so into the hole that’s not suppose to be there. It overall is a nice jacket easy to move in and feels comfortable but kind of stinks it’s durability potentially is lacking hopefully it’s just my experience

    I love this jacket.. 6' 2" 200#s fits perfectly in large. My go to winter work jacket. However, after 1 washing the black jacket lost much of its deep black color and now looks faded with lighter spots where the creases are. It appears to look covered in dust and dirt while it's clean. I could see the black dye coming out in the wash water. Winder if it should be dry cleaned... would've been nice to know.

    I have had this jacket for a few weeks the build quality is good. Only thing that I wish is that sizing was better. I am 5’-5” and order a medium the jacket fits but the arms are a little long. I think carhartt is doing a great job bring out the full swing jacket and it is a jacket that does not restrict your movement but wish the sizing was like medium short not everyone is 6’ tall

    Im an average sized male (6ft / 180 lbs) Size ordered (M) This coat is very tight on the front of the armpits. The length of the arms and coat tail are good. The hood is a little too tall, and not long enough on the brim but thats manageable. The worst part is the armpits and chest stitching. It is supposed to be "free swinging" but you are not going to get any swinging done without pinches in ever swing. Even just standing you have to constantly pull the coat out of your armpits. If you have any shoulders at all, make sure you get a large, or even bigger. I can't zip it up wearing any type of hoodie underneath either without sacrificing maneuverability. Usually Carhartts run big, so I ordered a (M). What a mistake! This coat is such a bummer. Huge loss to my wallet, and I cant even wear it without looking ridiculous. Oh and by the way, CRAZY LINT MAGNET. If hairs, lint, straw, vegetation pieces, flakes, anything bother you on your coat stay away. This thing attracts it like crazy! Its also very hard to get the lint off with a lint roller (its the fabric). Im usually always happy with Carhartt, but this coat was a huge let down. Oh and if you notice in the picture, kind of bulky around the man's belly right? Its the way the pockets or stitched on. It makes your belly look bigger / wider than it is from a front view. Coat now hangs useless.

    Should be rated 1-2 for warmth. Worn it multiple times in 30-40 degree weather with a hoody underneath and it was almost useless. Carhartt quality has dropped off a lot over the last few years.

    I love the jacket, it’s the best one I’ve own nd I own 3, the build quality is great and the fit is a bit small but still good ( I am tall, 6’2, so I feel it’s a bit short for me) my only complaint is I wish it held up in the rain more because that was the main reason I chose this since I hate umbrellas but it gets the job done for the most part if you aren’t just standing/working in the rain all day

    It is a very nice jacket. I'm not a big fan of the cuffs up in the sleeves but that is just me. It is a lightweight jacket but lots of warmth. The fleece lining in the pockets is amazing. It fits really well on me. I love the fact that the hood is detachable because I'm not a big fan of hoodies. Over all it seems well made and I should be able to enjoy it for many years.

    So I ordered this Jacket (size M) online due to this product being labeled as “Relaxed Fit”. Now first and foremost, I have Carhartt Jackets in both Relaxed and Loose fits. This Jacket arrived and upon initial inspection I noticed the neck tag read “Loose Fit”, however the card that came along with the jacket says “Relaxed Fit”. When I tried on this jacket, it actually felt more like a loose fit jacket, very similar fitting to a size M J140 Active Jac (loose fit) that I tried on in a Carhartt store. Initially I was expecting a fit more similar to a size M Bartlett Jacket (relaxed fit), which I own and really enjoy, but instead its more like a size M Active Jac. However this very minor disappointment was not enough to make me return this jacket, so I just layer up with a hoodie underneath and tighten the waist cord. With that being said, I’m wearing this jacket to work and am happy with it. The mobility is great on this jacket and it is really warm. I am very impressed with the attention to detail, and it has the rip stop material right where I need them and makes for a really awesome work jacket.

    This jacket is reminiscent of one my husband had over 5 years ago. It’s perfect to layer under and is durable. It is heavy weight but a great fitting jacket. I ordered his usual size in this brand and it was perfect knowing it would have room for layering. Has a pull string on the bottom to help with any belly bulge lol and cuffs inside the sleeves as well. He loves it and he is tough to buy for! Great shopping and speed to Canada in under 2 weeks during a pandemic!? Could not ask for more.

    I really like this coat! It does seem to run a little bigger than what I expected for my size but that's ok because you can put on a few more layers if you need to. I love all the pockets - two lined pockets for you hands, another zippered pocket on the outside left chest, plus two more pockets on the inside, one zippered and one with a Velcro closure. The coat is comfortable and looks great. Not quite as warm as I expected but like I said, there's room for more layers if needed. Overall great coat!

    I just got it so can’t speak to durability yet, but I am beyond impressed with this jacket. It’s very comfortable, the fit is great compared to some of the other boxier feeling carhartts I’ve tried on, keeping a somewhat slimmer fit while still keeping full range of motion. Never had a coat that moves with my body like this. Looks great, feels great, the perfect medium weight that will suit me on all but the most frigid days of winter with options for layering. Weight to warmth ratio is fantastic. Couldn’t be happier. Btw, I’m 6,1”, 170lbs and the medium fits perfectly (I prefer skinnier clothes). Plenty of room without being baggy. Sleeves on a medium are usually too short for me but these are just right. May be too long for shorter guys.

    I’ve owned and worn out a number of carhartt jackets and this is by far my favorite. Living and working outside in New England winters it’s often cold, rainy, snowy, icy and windy. Sometimes all of that in one day. This jacket is perfect for staying warm and dry. It’s moves well and has enough room to wear a vest or heavy layer underneath. Will definitely buy again in a few years when this one burns out.

Other than that it's absolutely great quality and a steal for the price. I've been jacket hunting and for the price range it blows the competition away. I am sad to be returning this product but unfortunately it just doesn't fit my build well.

    This jacket is by far the best carhartt product I've worn and worked in. try one on in store or at least order a size up and down to get the fit perfect. I usually wear a large tall but a large seemed to fit better for preference. The design team killed it with this one. I've worn this in all seasons and everything about it is perfect. lots of people in these reviews of newer carhartt products criticize the drop tail. This jacket also features a drop tail and a sort of shorter length (much like the detroit jackets and J002) to accommodate the use of a tool belt. the great thing is, the tail is there to keep the drafts out (doesnt really get in the way of your belt anyways) but if you DONT want the tail or don't like the look or whatever they've put in cinches along the waist to tighten it up and it basically removes that drop tail as much as you like. I've worked in mine for a few years now and I've been waiting to write this review. the ripstop material is not classic duck. but it is EXTREMELY durable, and the spots that need the extra durability long term (decades) have the cordura material (the sleeve ends, around the bottom). the color matching of the cordura isn't strange looking and after a few years of sun fading it holds up amazing. Take a look at some old 'vintage' carhartt coats on google, the tattered ripped and stained ones that people are paying hundreds for second hand: you'll notice where the coats tend to get the most beat up. It's usually right at the sleeves and bottom hem. this won't happen as quickly with this jacket... read-------> **The attention to detail they put into this**It feels good to have the polyester where it counts but otherwise have a phenomenal good old fashioned cotton coat. I've tried and worked the past 6 winters in various all-poly or cordura versions of the yukon line and the full cordura stuff just isnt as....comfortable? to me as this jacket is. the hardware on the coat is great; I've read and experienced certain troubles with some of the carhartt zippers, buttons, etc. particularly with double zippers, but this one has a super smooth and adequately-sized single zipper that's held up. never had an issue using the zipper with mittens or thick gloves. and if the zipper ever does fail: the buttons and storm flap are not only great looking stylistically but functionally work to keep out drafts when you need to. it's a very warm coat but it is built to be worn with a belt: a bit shorter in length. with the elastic cinch waist, the drop tail, the storm flap in front, and the elastic cuffs, the coat retains the heat, but seems to breathe better than other models such as the yukon line. not a single bit of hardware on this coat has malfunctioned or misperformed in the years I've actively worked in it. there's one snag right on the front from a time i caught it on a sharp metal bit of line when working on a pole-but the ripstop did its job and it hasn't frayed since and it's hardly noticeable. there's also a soft lining inside the front pockets. ATTENTION TO DETAIL. whoever designed this: I LOVE YOU. the lining is warm and is still soft after years of shoving tools and fittings into the pockets. the pocket rivets at the top have held up impressively, as i often overload the front pockets with tools and equipment while climbing. when gloves need to be off for dexterity, that soft lining in the pockets truly makes the difference for a quick hand warming vs just the standard cotton duck J002 pockets that are thick, but the cold still cuts through. I could go on and on but lastly: the inside lining..... is perfect. I've personally never been a fan of the sort of coat that has, say, wonderful warm sherpa lining in the body and quilted lining in the sleeves. I know they do that for ease of putting on/taking off. I'd rather have it all one or the other (all sherpa or all quilted). flip this jacket inside out and see what they've done. it's quilted throughout, but the small of the back is quilted in a slightly different, softer material. It could just be placebo, but i swear to you having just that little extra right there makes it warmer. and the same material is used in the armpits and on inside elbows in the sleeves. This was built and designed with comfort, functionality, and durability in mind no matter if you're wearing short sleeves long sleeves or a tank top underneath it. 2 notes: i ripped out the inside pockets for comfort (weird lining preference ^ see notes above) I don't like the rougher material rubbing on me while im working. If i had one hyper critique I'd say maybe make the collar just a smidge bigger. for when the hood's not attached but its still a little windy. Bottom line: try on and buy this jacket. This will be a new carhartt classic. it's better than the detroit. both in function and style. and i have no doubt that this will last decades. I want to buy more of them because they're awesome. I don't need more than one because it's been so well designed.

    [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Exactly what I was looking for and expected. Have an Arctic-lined Carhartt jacket for really cold days. This is perfect from there to 55 or so. Looks good but rugged enough to work in, be horseback, etc.

    The Long sleeves fit me perfectly.

    I purchased this jacket to replace a Detroit style that is getting tired. This jacket is an all-around jacket used every day, I read all of the reviews, several of the reviewers talked about the sleeve length. I am 5'11" tall with a 36" waist and 34" sleeve length. The size Large fits me very well. I have other Carhart jacket, two that are Large and one Carhart jacket that is Medium. The Medium for me is to tight and the sleeves are to short. The Jackets that are size Large fit very well so I ordered size Large.in BLACK It's a very nice jacket as expected..

    It would be so much better if the heavy insulated part of the coat could unzip/removable, so I can wear the jacket year round.

    the steel is a nice fairly lightweight coat...the full swing touches are excellent. the front pocket are well thought out, and have a slight insulation to keep them warm. reinforcements are added along the cuff and would seem to help alot of the wear most carhartt coats suffer from. the fit is your normal carhartt sizing, a little big in the chest area, otherwise fitting well. the hood however is horrendous...way too big and no way to adjust it. it appears to be sized to fit a hardhat, which is a big problem if you arent wearing one. other carhartt coats i have are equipped with great hoods, so this is very disappointing.

    ordered lg tall, same size as 2 other Carhartt jackets I own, put in washer and dryer on warm and fits perfect. Sleeves were way too long. awesome, comfortable jacket. highly recommend

    Looks good and fits well, but it is definitely not warm. I've been wearing Carhartts since the late 80's doing my job as a Carpenter and ice fishing, snowmobiling, etc? This jacket has all of the bulk of my previous jackets with almost none of the warmth. I'm not even sure I could honestly sell it.

    Carhartt has to make more of these in different colors! The quality is amazing. The only need for improvement is the zippers. Why not use the same double zippers used in the firm duck traditional coat? Otherwise the cordura material in the high use areas of the jacket was spot on. I am 5'8" 145 lbs 30" waist and the small fit me perfectly. The arm length was a bit long but the beefy cuff inside kept the sleeves from extending pass the hands. The jacket moves with you when doing anything. You can literally workout in these because the jacket is warm but not bulky/heavy and the hood that comes with the jacket can be removed. How many carhartt jackets come with a removable hood?! I can wear this jacket to work, camping, or a night out at the bar, it's that versatile.

    I highly recommend the "Full Swing" line! The flex & comfort is unrivaled! I'm a woman & in the past, i've never been a fan of Carhartt jackets. I found them too bulky & stiff but i purchased these for the guys in our office (& one for myself) for Christmas & they're great! The Full Swing "technology" really makes a huge difference, i have yet to feel restricted when trying to do anything. I deducted a star from appearance due to the little metal grommets on the pockets... i think the jacket would look nicer without them but that's personal preference. The pockets are nice & roomy & i love that the hood is detachable.

    I bought this jacket at a local store and after wearing it I had to leave a review on this site. This is by far the best jacket I ever worn. Worth every penny! Doesn’t fell tight and the freedom to move freely and stay warm is just spot on. Barely bought it and I still haven’t washed it so I can’t say anything if it shrinks or not but I really hope not cause it fits right! I really hope they make different colors of em like camo or brown but I’m still happy with my purchase and will definitely recommed this jacket to friends and coworkers.
