First of all I received the wrong size as I needed a tall and was sent a regular. I did not care for the way the jacket was short around the waist I really needed the knitted band at the waist and on the sleeves to make it fit the body and keep you warm. As far as the wrong size Carhartt made it all okay

I’ve been having eyes on a Carhartt jacket for years and finally decided to buy this one. I must say I am not disappointed at all. Very sturdy, fits as great as it looks, and all for a decent price. I have no complaints about it whatsoever. I can throw a hoodie on underneath and deal with the NY weather with ease. I must say my one “issue” with the jacket is how the collar kind of pokes upwards whenever the jacket is fully zipped up but a slight adjustment fixes that. 10/10, a definite must. Hopefully they can restock on the brown colorway soon

6’4” guy with a build on the skinnier side here. Got the Medium Tall size and it fits great! I’ve got longer arms and the sleeves do not ride up like other jackets. Great quality jacket and would highly recommend to anyone interested. With every penny.

Had to order another one. Jacket looks great can dress up dress down I'm 225-235 range and the xl fit good with room to layer under it. One of those jackets can easily be a 3 season jacket.

One of the best jackets I’ve bought from carhartt! I love it so much and I have gotten complements on it and it is so warm! I live in Colorado and the winters are dry and cold and it is perfect for this weather. I bought a Medium I’m 5’11 and 190lb and it fits perfectly. The only thing is that sits right on my waistline but that’s how the jacket is! I probably could have gone with a Large or a Medium tall. But the sleeves on the regular Medium are a perfect length.

Good tight fit. almost like a silky leather glove. So smooth. Anyways, the thing's a quality piece of craftsmanship and by god it's durable. Probably gonna take me a few months to really put some creases in this baby but it's built to last a lifetime.

This jacket is good for cool weather 45. Deg and above it fits as described the only thing I would say it needs is a waiste snap to aadjust the waist fit. Otherwise a great jacket.

Medium Tall Great fit for a tall slender guy. Works well for outdoor activities down to 10F. Lower than that I use a different Carhartt with heavier insulation in the sleeves and more room for more layers.

I have wore Detroit Jackets all my life.I have always purchased a XL Tall I always loved them. But this coat had an annoying longer flap in the back . I don't like that all. Normally on past Detroit Jackets it goes all around your waist evenly. I wore it because I needed it but not happy with that. All it does is fold under.

We want our old jackets back.

Ordered an XL since that is the size that I always wear. Order was delivered and the sleeves are about 3 inches too long.

Good jacket. Some minor quibbles but a satisfactory replacement to the previous two I wore out.

Outer fabric excellent. Inner lining fabrics excellent. I care for the extended hem at the back. I would have preferred hem adjustment buttons like the older design. Front zipper is really rough but may smooth over time with more use. Overall, pleased with the jacket.

this definitely seems like a downgrade from carhartts normal quality.That doesnt mean its bad quality just that its not as hardcore as some other pieces.The zipper is definitely smaller, i dont think its brass and the duck seems to be lighter weight. Like other reviewers have mentioned the sleeves are long.Now I have just come to notice that hipsters are wearing carhartt gear. For normal wearing the sleeves are probably too long but the overall quality is perfectly acceptable. For workwearing, the longer sleeves are great for working overhead so they dont ride up your arms. The general fit would probably be too big for normal wearing also but again for workwear its perfect, i can layer a sherpa hoodie underneath.I think the overall quality of the jacket is great for non workwear but for workwear i dont think it will hold up that well, im going to keep it and see

I bought my first duck detroit jacket back in 2017. Made in the USA. Thick Canvas. Waist snaps. Affordable. No problems with it whatsoever, it’s been a perfect jacket, but she’s been beat up the past few years. I wanted to buy another one, but come to find out they don’t make them. Not made in the USA. Not made of thick canvas. No waist snaps. They raised the price. Why? I was looking forward to being a continuous customer.

The Detroit jacket is a very high quality garment. Unfortunately I didn’t realize you changed the style. The purpose of a Detroit jacket is that it can be worn with a tool belt. Unfortunately you’ve added a tail flap to it which makes wearing a tool belt problematic. Also, you did away with the adjustable snaps at the waist. The jacket fit well in the chest/shoulders, but was like a tent around the waist. No way to seal off a draft. I’ve wanted a Detroit jacket for years but because of these style changes, I’m returning it. Remember the old adage,”if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”.

10/10 jacket. I’m usually a medium and ordered a small and it fits perfect to my liking ! Wish I was able to buy it in brown, but navy is also amazing. So yeah if you want a more fitted look I highly commend sizing down a size

This jacket is not the same as the original. Doesn't fit the same When sitting down you sit on the back bottom flap. It's irritating. Carrhart was ruined this jacket I can not recommend this jacket.

Good fit, sleeves a little longer than I would prefer but not bothersome. Keeps warm into the mid 40s with short sleeve and high 30s with long sleeves shirt. Does tend to pick up lint and what not but releases easy with a roller.

New and improved..... and I absolutely love my Detroit jacket. This jacket was recently redesigned (Fall of 2019, I believe?) and I stand behind the redesign - 100%. This jacket is incredible. It’s tough, rugged, durable, fits phenomenally... I’m incredibly impressed. Don’t let the “bring back the old” reviews fool you. Still a very solid jacket.

I have had this jacket/coat for years. I finally am buying a new one in black. It's wool lined and stays warm and zips up for colder weather. If I would change anything it would be a larger zipper. Not a huge deal, but I wanted to be fair in my review.

I've worn Carhartt products for over 40 years and they are hard to beat. I've always had a classic Detroit jacket but found it increasingly hard to replace them with the exact same one. This new Detroit jacket is definitely a different cut from the old one. I have a 42-43" chest but knew from past experience that a medium would fit perfectly. The insulation feels warmer and softer than the old style. Overall I'm very happy with my purchase. Hopefully it will wear as well as the older Carhartt attire did. It's getting increasingly harder to find decent quality work and leisure wear , I still think Carhartt is your best bet.

Please bring the old Detroit jacket back with snap back. The sleeves on this jacket is very different than the old one. I prefer the sleeves on old jacket a million times. Why change a jacket that already was a perfect classic. It doesn't make any sense. People who want drop back with extra coverage can buy another, a longer jacket. Please do not mess a beautiful design and heritage.

Absolutely love the jacket it. The size estimator on their website is spot on. The sleeves are just slightly longer than I expected but good besides that. I instantly received compliments on the jacket and had other people go home and order one and show up to work wearing them a week later. Highly reccomend this jacket to anyone.

I have just received the jacket and it fits perfectly. It is very warm and comfortable. The next day the weather went to 70 degrees so I have not had a chance to wear it in cold temperatures. But, I am sure there is more winter ahead.

Quality of materials and design is not what it used to be with previous years' Detroit Jackets. The denim fabric is clearly inferior; lighter weight, likely to be less durable, not the high-end durable stuff they used to use. The fit is also off; I purchased the same size I have several times in the past, all of which fit perfectly, but this time the sleeves are about 2 inches longer, which is awkward. And note that these are no longer made in the US; the tag says it's made in India. I really wish Carhartt would return to their previous commitment to high quality. Long-time customers can tell the difference, and I for one would rather pay more for something better than have the product degraded like this.

I've had a Detroit jacket for years and have finally worn it out. It's been my favorite jacket for work. Tried to get another and found that Carhartt had "redesigned and improved it". So I ordered the same size that I have worn for years and when I put the new jacket on it swallowed me. The sleeves hung down over my hand so far that my fingers barely showed. The collar had a mind of its own. And the zipper was absolutely worthless. Not the heavy zipper on my old jacket but some lightweight type that took a gymnast to line up correctly so as to start it. What an improvement!!!!!!!!!!! Carhartt took an icon and ruined it. Even if you take into consideration exchanging it for a smaller size; the zipper makes it unusable. Would love to have another Detroit jacket if Carhartt corrects the "improvements".

This jacket is awesome! It's really rugged and tough but very comfortable. All the zippers are a high-quality metal, not cheap plastic. The fabric on the outside is very rugged and can withstand abrasions very well. I am a truck driver, so my jackets get a little bit of everything as far as scrapes, rubs, dirt, rain, grime, etc. and this jacket handles everything with a smile. Well worth the money and I can tell this jacket is going to last me a lot of years excellent purchase in my opinion.

Bought this jacket in 2019 and is my favorite jacket by far! Bought the black one and I get lots of compliments on it. Use it in the cold when I’m unloading and loading heavy audio equipment for my business. The only thing is the size does run big. But that’s not really a problem, especially since it seems like it’s a jacket that’s meant to be layered up with. I’m 5’11” 235lbs. XL. The only hesitation is it seems like they discontinued the “Made in USA” line in this one, or else I’d buy a second one in Carhartt brown.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was in Portland and decided to stop by the Carharrt store to see if the Detroit Jacket or Chore Coat was in store in a Medium. In Washington state there are no Chore Coats at all or Detroit Jackets smaller than 2XL to be found anywhere. Even at the Carharrt store in Downtown Seattle. So to my surprise hanging up in the Portland Store there it was. In a Medium! I tried it on and it fit like a Large. Perfect, as I normally where a large in every other brand. But medium in Carharrt. I never let that Jacket out of my hands til I purchased it. I got the Black one. They even had the Carharrt Brown too. As for the Jacket...I was better than I expected!

I like the cut, allows to reach tools in tool belt with ease. This new model apparently has a softer but stretchy fabric. I tried to spray some silicone into the fabric and it didn’t absorb it well, like the old 100% heavy cotton. Some might like it more being more flexible and stretchy, though.

Not the same as the older version. Cheaper construction. No waist adjustments. Outer shell seams thinner. Velcro inner pocket instead of zip. Had to cut lots of extra thread from seams

This is different from the old Detroit jacket. The material is different, is thinner than the old style, as well it runs larger than the old version. Nice jacket, but is different than what I expected. The old style I could adjust the waist as well via a couple snaps and the new you can not. If I had of known all of this I would have opted for a different style.

I sent it back, really disappointed with Carharts. I used to like the detail that went into the stitching on the cuff, just made it look sophisticated even if it was just a work coat. I’ve been a customer of Carharts for a couple of decades and it really saddens me that I’m now having to look around for a replacement jacket.I’ll keep checking back but until you bring the original style back I won’t be buying anymore Carharts.

The reason I buy Carhartt is because I like the fit, I’m a big guy so comfort is important. I found this jacket difficult, I ordered it 3 times, first a 2XL, snug around the stomach, then a 3XL Long, hung on me, too Long and sleeves way too long, then settled on a 3XL sleeves still too long but it will do.

the jacket is what I consider a "medium weight" type; it is very comfortable; size was true to me; the bi-swing back is a big deal in comfort,(I have gotten rid of most of my jackets that don't have it), because it is an extremely good comfort device if you have to "flex" your arms. Plus, it looks good; I like the canvas fabric plus the blanket material inside. If anyone is considering this sort of jacket, I would highly recommend trying this one out. jbm

What happend too the carhartt we used too know Like the usa made pants I stand by? That even on most recent pairs switched out the proud usa made logo! Now they took the Detroit Jacket and changed something in the material I was skeptical when it was so soft new and felt different then even my pants I felt. But started wearing it had the last two weeks off of work just been chilling home doing small things nothing even had and have a hole allready starting in the front it never caught on another either just happend to notice a hole today.

Good looking for work- bought this jacket for my son-in-law who is a photographers assistant, and needs to look sharp on the set. Jacket is warm, and looks great! I gave it 4 stars because it is really wide at the bottom- needs to be cut in for a regular fit. He is 6'1 and 180# and I bought an XL. Fits well in the shoulders and is long enough in the arms. Just wish it was tapered at the waist.

Size fits way too large. I’m typically between small and medium from other brands. The small from the previous generation fit me perfect but now its fits like a large. Very disappointed as I was excited to update from the old J001 which is unfortunately for this updated version still my favorite jacket.

I'm a construction Superintendent in the PHX, AZ area. It doesn't get cold often here, but we still have our cold days in the high 30s and 40s. This jacket is great for that weather. I'm not as active as a trade worker, but this jacket keeps me warm and comfortable with minimal layers. As a trade worker this jacket would definitely keep you warm when active and working (or not working). This is my first Carhartt so I was unsure about the size. I used the website here to calculate which size I'd need. I'm 6'2" and an athletic 230lbs and an XL Tall was recommended. I should have tried one on at a store first, but when it gets cold here, these jackets are had to find in a normal size. The jacket was a little big and roomy, but I decided to stick with it so I could wear layers underneath comfortably (sweater, hoodie thermal under a flannel). It would still fit well if I were to have a bigger midsection as well. Definitely room in the body of the jacket if you're a bigger guy. After washing it, it fits a little better because it shrank a little bit after the wash and dryer. Overall I'm happy with it, but will probably get a Large Tall to wear while not at work. Something less bulky and more fitting without layers such as a sweater or hoodie. It's too bad it's not Carhartt weather longer here in the Phoenix area. Because I really like wearing my new jacket.

I've worn a Detroit Jacket for almost all of my 35 years in the trades. It used to be the best jacket of all time. Since the design has been changed a bit, it is lost a good portion of my loyalty. It just doesn't fit the same. I still own 3 of the new style, but I don't think I want to buy any more.

Appears to be good quality and fit is good but arms are way too long. The old version of this jacket had arms that were over an inch shorter. The fact that arm length is not included in the sizing or description of the item is also frustrating.

Great fit & very warm. I'm 5'10", 164 lbs ordered a medium and it's great. The sleeves are slightly long but it doesn't bother me; I just cuff it back once or leave it a little long depending what I'm doing. I'm using for casual wear but it seems quite durable. Love the look and feel of the jacket overall.

This was my husbands favorite jacket style for 20+ years, not anymore. Blanket lining seems to be thinner and not as warm, new pocket lining, with his rough hands, get caught , don’t like the extra length and doesn’t like the new sleeve style. Please bring back the original one.

Have worn this style for a very long time, but...Very unhappy with the new version of this jacket. Missing the snaps at the waist to keep the jacket fitted. Very large cut - for a fat guy, not a tall guy. Not happy with this at all. If you are a fan of the Detroit cut jacket, skip this one. No good. Ordered the normal size 2xl tall - really big, not a great fit. Will have to be altered and the snaps added for fit. Why change a good thing Carhartt? This one sucks!

Relaxed Duck Blanket-Lined Detroit Jacket is awesome. However it didn’t fit me like I thought, I’m 6 ft 450 lbs and im really wide with a big belly, so I thought it was either going to fit snug or at least leave me with some room. Not the case since I couldn’t zip it up and I know I should probably return it, but im just wearing it open for now. Its really tighter than I thought it would be. I should’ve definitely went for the 5XL. Other than that its a nice jacket.

No longer a traditional detroit jacket, so much of the original design has been changed (no waist fasteners, not as tapered at the waist, etc) and it's a serious drop in quality over the original. I loved the one I bought 10 years ago, but this was just disappointing

Nice quality, thick material, color and great fit. Runs a little large, I generally wear a LG, but a Med fits perfect. No wonder these are always sold out. I purchased extra cause I love the Jacket and fear I will not be able to get another one. I now have four, two of each color Tan and Black. I get lots of compliments.

I've had this jacket for all most a year now and love it for the most part but there are a couple things that I don't like, 1 being the way all of the pockets are cut in to the shell of the jacket when they should be attached to the outside or inside so that the main shell of the jacket remains a solid protective layer without holes cut in to it that allows cold and wind to penetrate to our body's core. 2 the tiny zippers are difficult if not impossible to navigate without gloves let alone with, 3 the storm flap is to small and should have two, one one the outside and one inside along with buttons to allow a chose of ways to close the front when working and a two way zipper would be nice. 4 no way to adjust the waist of the jacket, it needs two buttons and button holes on each side at the bottom hem as well at the wrist cuff, and Please No Velcro, 5 get rid of the Cheesy collar, just make it as tough and rugged as the rest of the jacket. My opinion for what it's worth. hey how about getting rid of hoods on other styles of men's coats and jackets, then I might buy more. Questions below are at less than a year so give me a few more months an I will update the progress. 60 year old beat up electrician, yea I can do that. Thanks J.D. Miller

This was purchased for my son for Christmas. He picked it out from website & ordered online. He is generally a medium & it was a perfect fit with probably room for a heavier sweater or layering if you want. He's been wearing since he got it in temps ranging from 20 to 60 degrees and its been great as is. Ordered the navy blue. Nice color, quality and style. Rated 4 stars for durability only because its so new.

This was purchased for our 17 year old grandson. He seems to really like it. In fact he sent us a picture of himself outside with the jacket on. It looks nice on him, the quality seems very good and it's extremely functional for this time of year. Can't speak to the durability since he's only had it 3 weeks but if it lasts as long as the one his grandfather has it will be well worth the money.

Strong durable outer cloth, a bit stiff but will soften with wear, I needed a xl size for my body size so sleves a bit too long. i probably will buy a 2nd one soon i like it so much.

The Detroit jacket has been my winter fire wood choice for years.(this one is my 4th). They don't seem as durable as they used to be but still a Carhart. They have really reduced the size of the zipper. Now its very difficult to get started. Especially with cold hands.

Multiple reviews about fit not being correct. Maybe I’m built strange 5’9” about 185lbs. Fit is perfect with a large. Very comfortable and rides right at my waistline. Inside liner is soft and warm. Ready to test it out in some cooler weather. Shipping was a little ODD due to FedEx being used, but not really Carhartt’s fault. I will be ordering another for my father. Zippers don’t seem to be as big as my older Carhartt Quick Duck jacket.

I gave 4 stars because all I've done so far is remove it from the package and put in a gift bag for Christmas. It looks very well made but I was surprised at the light feel of the jacket. I pray it keeps my cold-natured husband as warm as he wishes. I'll follow up with a better review once he's worn the jacket and tells me how it feels.

My husband liked the jackets with the wasteband and no hood. But we couldn’t find that and this was the next best thing. The back goes down alittle bit too and that was nice. And it’s not as heavy feeling as the hooded jackets, more moveable. He loves it.

Carhartt Big wigs please listen. The original carhartt detroit jacket was perfect. I have my original one. I would wear it, but its a medium and Im a large. I love it. The snap sides and the cambered sleeves give you a custom fit feel. I bought a new jacket, thats a "relaxed fit". Its too baggy and doesnt fit the same as the original style does. Bring the original style back please! Or at least make both styles so people have options.

The jacket was everything like the previous one i purchased except in the sleeve's area. The winter jacket sleeves compresses itself down towards the wrist area where this one is controlled by a snap. I prefer the winter one for that reason. Everything else was perfect.

The jacket is great. The only problem I had was getting the right size. I am evidently in between a small and medium. I first bought the medium, then exchanged it for the small. Very rugged high quality casual or work jacket. My only real negative is that the sleeves are very long. I do have shorter arms than some, but even on the small the sleeves are too long.

Overall like the jacket. The side pockets are horrible! As a guy that works with his hands all day, they get chapped, cracked and are rough. Tried putting my hands in the pockets and the cheap polyester just grabs my skin and is not pleasant. Carhartt could use a better material, cotton duck, berber, etc I will have the wife make a custom pocket insert to make the pockets usable.

Why does the jacket have such a small zipper? It makes it extremely difficult to close —especially if you’re wearing gloves. Also the hood snaps don’t work with the optional hood and I had to return it. The collar is rust colored instead of black but no big deal. Sleeves are too long.

I've been wearing Detroit jackets going on 35 years and it's always been my go to jacket,I usually get about 10 years out of one. My last one I bought in a mens store in Montana about seven years ago and it had clearly been there awhile and was of the older type. I just received this updated one and frankly I'm disappointed,the thinner cuffs seem flimsy the cloth is much lighter weight both the exterior and the liner, these jackets used to be stiff when new and took some breaking in, the fit is different and the zipper and snaps feel cheep plus not having the waist straps mean it's going to be breezy, the fit seams as if it's for a fat guy. Frankly I'd be happy to pay more for a return to the high quality jacket of the past.Maybe Carhartt could take a page from Redwing's playbook and come out with a classic line. It's not like you'd have to redesign it just make them here off the old patterns with the old materials. Thank you -Eric Z

This jacket is as warm as I expected, looks good, is durable. It’s replacing a chore coat for me, I like this one as I feel like I can wear it for more things I do, whereas the chore coat only seemed like it made sense when I was doing chores. This one is more versatile for me now. Really appreciate the availability of a medium tall size also. Perfect for me.

Not a big fan of the new design. No snaps on the base of the jacket anymore keeps me from purchasing a new one to replace the one I've worn for 20 years. The side snaps clinched the jacket perfect for my size and keep the cold air out. The original is perfect cool weather motorcycle rides.

I’ve loved this jacket in the past and was looking to replace my old one that is two years old now. I was incredibly disappointed to find that quality had considerably declined. The canvas is softer and cheap. The lining is also way less durable and if a lower quality and density. I always valued Carhartt for their durable clothing, but it seems that they’ve cut corners and I would no longer consider this work wear quality.

Amazing Jacket, a little oversize but allows for you to wear sweatshirts and crewnecks under it so it's great. It's also lined very well so keeps one warm. Get's a lot of Compliments :). Got the black but I will definitely buy other colors.

I have warn 3 of the Detroit Jackets for close to 25 years, gone through two of them with almost daily use Fall and Winter. I recently purchased my 4 Detroit jacket and am totally disappointed. The jacket from the photos looks the same although after close review there is a flap on the back of the jacket where in my others the jacket was straight back with snaps on both sides at the hips, which I did not notice in the pictures when I ordered it. The Brass Zipper and Snaps have now been replaced with another metal not the brass as used in the past. Jacket now made in Mexico instead of USA. The outer and inner fabrics no longer the heavy duck fabric rather a flimsy fabric with single fabric cuffs instead of double wrapped as in the sturdy jackets once made by Carhartt. The zipper pull tabs once sturdy brass are now steel with rubber like tabs. Really cheap feel to the jacket and sadly going to be returned to the Big R Store with the same Write up. I have literally warn the jackets until the collars freed and the pockets were warn through. Loved the old jackets, Not the new one. From what I can see you just took the outer from the Carhartt Mens Full Swing Washed Duck Fleece Lined Jacket SKU: P2226005 MPN: 103370-001 Very disappointed

Really nice jacket but they definitely messed up my sleeves I'm 5 10. The jacket is medium and the cuffs pass my hand by 3 inches..... I pulled them back and tightened the cuffs. But there is so much extra sleeve I can tell it will push on my hands until there rubd raw.

Long story short... have had a Carhartt XL Detroit style jacket in brown for a few years. Lost a bunch of weight (Yay me!). I was swimming in my Carhartt. So I ordered what I was hoping would be the exact same jacket but in a Large. You guys changed it! First of all, it's definitely more gold than brown. Disappointed about that. Less important- you removed the snaps that made my original Carhartt more snug against my waist so that cold air would be better kept out. I'm assuming that was a cost thing? Still love my new Carhartt. Just wish I could get the original color.

I generally have to get tall sizes because I'm long-waisted. That fits. I let with this jacket but makes the arms quite long. I'll probably keep it as the extra length in the arms, while maybe a little too long, gives me some extra mobility, and the arms being long is better than the body being too short.

I’m actually pleasantly surprised with the fit and finish compared to the discontinued Detroit jacket.. Large fits me well; 5’10, lean 185lbs. I can layer under it and the arms fit my longer than average ape arms just right. It could use snaps at the waist to tighten it up or else it would be 5 stars.

My husband wears this jacket we buy the same style every year for him. The only reason we didn’t give it 5 stars is it use to have an adjustable waist band and they have changed it where there is no way to tighten the waist. Also they changed the inside pockets so they open on the side instead of on top.

Please look close, this is not the original Detroit jacket. Does not sit at waist in the back, missing snap adjustors at the waist, blanket lining is lite weight. I have been wearing Carhart for over 40 years, long before the brand was "cool" or "stylish". PLEASE, PLEASE bring back the ORIGINAL Detroit jacket. With deep regret I will be returning my purchase, so far that process seems smooth, look forward to the return of the original. Respectfully, an old guy. PS Please contact me if you have any new old stock laying around in a warehouse some place I would purchase a jacket

The jacket itself isn't bad but doesn't compare to the previous models. The main disappointment I have with it is the sizing. I'm slim with long arms. I used to be able to purchase them in numbered sizes according to chest size. I have had several in 42 tall but now can only find them in Small, Medium, Large and Extra Large. In order to get one with the correct arm length, I have to settle for an extra large but I swim in the rest of the jacket. Really disappointed that Carhartt has changed their product line up to focus on mass production and profits over the reliable customer loyalty and quality in their products.

Jacket is awesome- got the blue, couple washes and it lightened up very nice. I got the large long. I’m 6’2” 195lbs. I probably should have just got the xtra large. The jacket seems tight under my arms and I need to cuff the sleeves. I think it will work out because I’m in the south and don’t need to layer. In colder weather- that would be a consideration.

I bought this jacket as a gift. After my brother commented on my old one and how well made it was. This is not the same detroit jacket. The lining is cheap it no longer has the wool blanket. It's fleece made to look like it. I also feel the duck material is thinner. Mine has served me well for 30 yrs but I will have to find a lightly used one online as a replacement. Or go to a different brand

I purchased a jacket earlier and thought the sleeves were a bit too long, so I ordered the Medium - Reg. That one is too small so I will be returning it. The Medium - Tall fits better and I will be keeping it. Thanks I had one of these jackets earlier and it was stolen when my pickup was stolen. However, I just had to buy another one. I like it.

Nice jacket sizing was sizing was definitely on the bigger side, the large fits like a XL would the sleeves are quite long. I'm 6'1 and the sleeves are to long for me it'll work if I just cinch down the cuff. Quality is good but a little disappointed in how off the sizing was.

Really like this jacket so far. Nice and warm. Made w what feel like very durable materials. Only minor issue was that it was a little stiff when new. A washing softened it up.

I would recommend this jacket to any one that wants a jacket that holds up to anything you can put it through This is my third Carhartt in a little over thirty years I worked construction building house's and after the first one I bought I've been sold my wife bought my second one because I couldn't give up my first one although it had seen better days.The second one I still use .my new Carhartt jacket that I just purchased will never go through what the other two went through.As of the last year my wife has passed away and I have retired ,so I will enjoy this jacket for every day use .I still have my second jacket and use it to work around the house and on my 1958 trk.I would recommend this jacket to any one who is not afraid to get dirty after many years of use and cleanings these are tough and very sharp looking .

I got the large tall, I’m six foot four and 185 pounds, it fits me perfectly and after a few washes it’s the perfect jacket you read about everywhere, after watching my dads Detroit jacket last him fifteen years I decided it was time to get one, I would say it is worth it and if you are contemplating buying yourself one, to just do it, you won’t regret it

I should have ordered a medium. Normally, I would do return/exchange but I am a US military servicemember currently overseas so I ordered the large because I didn't want it to be too small. And shipping takes a couple weeks to get here so I convinced myself it fit fine because I did not want send stuff back and forth. But as I have had the jacket longer, the quality and feel is incredible. I normally wear a large jacket but your large size runs big and I should have ordered a medium. In the end, it's my fault. Great quality though.

Just as good as the one I got in 8th grade.

My parents bought me one of these jackets when I was in the eighth grade. I can still wear it, but, it is completely worn out. When I saw that Charhartt resumed production of this jacket, I bought one that instant. I'll never get rid of that old jacket, but, at least I have one like it that I can wear without my dad fussing at me. The new jacket has a different pattern on the blanket lining than my old one, admittedly, it doesn't look as good, but, it is still just as functional. New jacket also has a large brass zipper like the old one, and it seems to be stouter. The new jacket is every bit as warm as the old one.

Buy this jacket for life.

Jacket looks and feels great. Sleeves on the large tall are longer than most. The lrg would have been fine for someone who usually fits lrg tall. Other than that great.

It needs some elastic around the bottom so as to fit tighter. Previous Carhartt coats had a knit elastic around the waist & cuffs which kept the wind out. Otherwise it is a very good coat & I would highly recommend it

NO LONGER MADE IN AMERICA!!!!! They changed the fit, the classic jacket and company are no more. It breaks my heart to see another American classic focus on profits instead of tradition and standards. Shame on Carhartt and whoever signed off on this business model. I will no longer be buying anything from this company.

You are buying carhartt you know quality will be amazing, confirm is amazing, looks amazing, this is a thick jacket it will keep you warm in the coldest weather. This is a jacket that will last a lifetime, the only downside and it's not really a downside is they run a bit big I'm a 3xl and it was big had to trade it for a 2xl. Other than that no complaints would recommend to anyone. buy this jacket you won't regret it.

This is my second Detroit jacket. The one I purchased 10 years ago was US made and the one I recently bought is made in India. Now I don't really have a problem with that, but I don't understand why you don't produce them in the US, even if this would mean 50 bucks more to buy it. Now the jacket itself is of good quality. I bought a size small, hoping that it would fit better than the medium I already have. Halas, too small, just ok with a t-shirt, but the sleeves ... the jacket is cut for an orangutan. Sleeve way too long considering the jacket is a size small, I look one of the guys near the bumper cars looking for trouble. The cut is out of proportion. Small body and long arms, maybe quality control and design should check this. I would have been better with an M, but then I would have sleeves touching the floor maybe.

The canvas on this new version is a massive letdown. Carhartt needs to go back to their old style with the waits snaps and thick canvas and you should offer the hunter green in my opinion of course. I received this new jacket in black on Friday and I will be returning it on Monday. If Carhartt offers the old style somewhere or somehow please let me know.

I searched for a J97 style jacket, which apparently is no longer available, and did not catch the switch when they displayed the Detroit style. Everything else about the order was fine, even the return process. But, why couldn't they just say the model you want is no longer available rather than direct one to another, similar, but not equal, product. Disgusted in Sequim.

Heftier than I expected., nice lining. Very tough fabric. This is a lot for the money. Wish it adjusted it closed tighter at the waist, then it’d be good on all but coldest days.

As others have said, either your arms will be swimming, or the sleeves will be short. Also, not sure why they removed the side snaps, im 6'0 165lbs, but one huge problem i have is the waist is absolutely humongous. Not every american is fat. They should have left the side snaps or had a way to cinch the waist and this wouldnt be an issue. Solid jacket otherwise.

I can’t understate how disappointed I am with the redesign of the Detroit jacket. I’ve owned three over the past 25 years, and my teenage son has been wearing second hand youth versions since he was four years old (currently on his fourth). I intended on purchasing myself a new Detroit jacket this year, but after inspecting the new design, I hung it back on the rack and left the store. The new fleece lining is nothing like the original blanket lining that felt like a cotton-wool blend. I don’t care for fleece, and just loved the rugged feeling of the original. I have an athletic build, with larger chest and shoulders and slimmer waist. The previous cut, with it’s adjustable waist straps, allowed me to cinch the wast to accommodate my tapered body style. And above all else, I don’t understand the dropped back waistline. It’s been referred to as a butt flap, and I agree with that assessment. The straight cut was the defining quality of the Detroit jacket in my opinion. This flap was the deciding factor when I put the jacket back on the rack. I hated how it looked and felt when I tried it on. I hope there is a reconsideration in the design for next year. My wife, son, and I own extreme parkas, chore coats, regular and Sherpa lined vests, overalls, flannels, hoodies, t-shirts, etc. This is a Carhartt family in a harsh winter area of mid-Michigan. And my Detroit jackets have always been my Crown Jewels - my favorite pieces that I take comfort in dawning each year when the weather turns cold, and what I wear daily for errands and tasks throughout the winter. So I’m saddened to see a staple of my wardrobe basically discontinued. Discontinued because the new version is not worthy of the Detroit title in my opinion.

I've owned 4 of these jackets in my lifetime. I recently bought my fifth from here. The new version now has a ducktail and a relaxed fit. I sent it back. I wanted to like it, but unfortunately, these small but significant changes were a dealbreaker. I found a generic version of the old Detroit jacket from Full Source that has not implemented the changes this new model has. It's worth mentioning is rather have a Carhartt, but the new Detroit is not for me. For those who pair this jacket with a tool belt, the flap in the back will get in your way. Not functional.

I’m 69, been wearing carhartt products for years - Duck bibs and chore coats. Retired and doing a lot of motorcycle riding. Still wearing bibs so I don’t have to readjust my pants all the time. In the work era I welded so I didn’t want zippers. Bought a Detroit jacket in black and was pleased to the point that I ordered two more, Carh@rtt brown and navy. Guess I’m set for life. Recommend them - ABSOLUTELY!

I have been wearing Carharrtt jackets for 30 years. My father & brothers have been wearing them as well. They are great quality & are the best work jackets. Really like the new design, Detroit jacket The two pockets inside & deeper outside pockets are great; the chest pocket fits my apple phone. The back drops alittle blocks drafts. The original Detroit jacket is nice ,but the new one is top quality, I definitely recommend.

I’m 6’2 and normally wear a large. I ordered a large and received it in the mail. Arm length was perfect and had extra inches but the body barely cane to my waist . Way to short on the body. Material and warmth really good tho

Why on earth did you folks decide to stop making the old style Detroit jacket? I know you had no problem selling them because the stores I purchased them at couldn't keep them in stock, and I always had a hard time getting them. The styles that you do still offer are of no interest to me. Can you tell me if that style and pattern of jacket is available from someone else?
