Love this jacket, but why does it come with attachment snaps under the collar, without a hood??

Sizes run large

Great coat. Warm. But sizing is off. I normally wear a 2XL, which I did order. But this 2XL is bigger than usual. Will need to exchange for XL instead.

Canvas shrinks, Sherpa does not

It’s a nice coat. Definitely runs large. 5’ 11”, 175lbs athletic build and the medium fits with decent amount of extra room. Tried a small but it was too tight in shoulders. Be careful washing. Only problem was with shrinking. Followed the washing directions and the outer canvas shrunk but the Sherpa lining did not. Now there is about 2 inches of extra Sherpa lining that bunches up. Annoying considering the price.

Great coat, sizing way off

The coat is well made and nice looking, appropriately warm however the more recent sizing "options" from Carhartt are difficult to navigate to a standard. Loose fit, relaxed fit??? While the coat I received is all of the things mentioned above it is much larger is size that the other 2xx items I've bought. Thinking that perhaps it would shrink to closer to size I washed it several times in hot water and high temp drying but the change was minimal so returning it was not an option.

Sizing is spot on thanks to the options of width and length. Nicely built I really appreciate it day to day in this chilly season. Can’t say about the durability as it has been way too short of an experience bit outside of that it is comfortable, zipper quality looks great and it sizes great. I Love the chest level front pocket btw.

Sizing concerns

Jacket sizing runs very large. The original order was Large Tall for a 6'3", 185 lb. male. Sleeve length on the Tall was perfect but the body was sized for 250 lbs. Item was returned & replaced with Medium. Sleeves were too short & shoulders snug, but the fit was far better than the Large. Carhartt should consider sizing for very tall younger persons with thin build. Medium Tall perhaps?

My dad bought me the same Carhartt jacket almost 10yrs , and it’s still going strong. Don’t waste your money on any other brand.

Not a Carhartt

Carhartt is not the same product that made it so popular. I am not that old and I remember very well the blanket lined canvas with corduroy trim brush jackets that lasted, fit and performed. I decided to return this and look for a different brand.

The coat is warm. I will be able to wear additional layers if needed. The zipper is a little stiff.

This is my second Carhartt coat and it does not disappoint. It’s very comfortable and warm, especially with the Sherpa lining. It’s also very durable and made with high quality materials. I highly recommend Carhartt outerwear.

The jacket fits good. I'm 6' 4" and a little rounder in the middle. I got an XL Tall and can easily fit a sweater under the jacket. I have a Large Tall and cant really fit a sweater under the jacket. The only thing I didn't realize that the cuffs on the inside have a band or elastic cuff. not a deal breaker for me.

I purchased this exact coat (then known as the Ridge Coat) 14 years ago in 2008 when I was a sophomore in high school. I still wear the coat. This coat has survived multiple moves, college while traveling with a winter sports team, a flood (dug it out of the mud and cleaned it up), blizzards, three kids, yard work, football games, and innumerable fishing trips. I still wear the coat. The black is fading into a grey and there’s some fraying around the cuffs, but it’s holding strong. Barring an unforeseen catastrophe, I see no reason why I shouldn’t get another 14 years out of it. They do run big and I bought my size but that’s ok. There’s plenty of room to add a carhartt vest or a sweater underneath. This was my first Carhartt coat and as a fourth generation blue collar customer, I can say that Carhartt has been an integral part of my family and will be for generations to come. You won’t be disappointed with this coat

Exactly what I was hoping for a daily casual yet rugged coat!

Purchased as a gift and it was well received. Good earthy brown color and well made. The only problem is there's two zipper pulls and they conflict with one another until you get the hang of using one.
Size wise it's a bit large but the extra room is ideal for a fleece hoodie underneath. Warmth wise, suitable for late fall early winter into chilly spring.
Old school vibe, great for daily casual and/or daily work.

Great jacket (5 stars). It's very warm. I've had several Carhart type coats over the years.
My only complaint is the chest pocket vertical zipper. The pocket is large but not handy. You have to zip the pocket to keep things from falling out like my glasses, notepads and pens. Accessing them is cumbersome especially with gloves on. You have to dig around to locate what you need. Either the inside or outside chest pocket needs to be a horizontal zipper.
Other than that minor gripe, it's an awesome coat.

Ok , first of all the Jackets do run Big, I always buy a large, jacket for work. Because I put under it a zipper hoodie. I had to send the large, back. Other the that the jacket made very well, I wish they were made in the USA, but as we all know these companies, don’t, make clothes in the USA, anymore. I bought it for the real cold weather, because I work out side, so it should keep me warm. We will see how good it is when I’m spotting trailer this winter.

Got this coat for Christmas! It’s a ok coat but the Ridge coat was better. This coat is warm but it needs a adjustable waist strap to keep the cold from coming up from the bottom of the coat. Like I said the Ridge coat was better and you never should have change it. I would send it back but don’t want to hurt my wife’s feelings.

C61 replacement

Dec 12, 2021
I have had the C61 coat for many year, recently looking to get another one, but found it was no longer made, this one was the replacement for it. When I received it, some of the features I loved about the C61 coat where removed from the newer coat, and the sleeves were a lot longer than before. I returned it and considering trying again, possibly it was just miss sized, but wish the C61 could be issued as that was a great coat.

Love all Carhartt jackets. I’m 6’3” so I went with an extra large tall. Length is great. I’d probably go with a large next time but if I wanted to wear a hoodie under this for more warmth it would be perfect. Just a little big but not too much that I’d exchange it.

Purchased these for all of my maintenance guys at a chemical factory. Very durable and warm, haven't gotten a single complain other than it takes a couple of washes for them to break in but what jacket doesn't.
