      Pronghorn Design at Toe has Changed

      Very important for anyone used to the old Pronghorn, especially EE peeps New design at toe has ruined this boot . After waiting a year I was so excited to receive my replacements. Sadly the new design was sooo severe I actually throughly they sent me the wrong size Customer service was great but sadly it’s a new design and the toe makes this boot unwearable for anyone with wide toe etc Very Bummed Terrible decision by D Team

      I needed a rugged boot

      I needed a rugged boot to hunt ruffed grouse in upper Michigan’s thick briars and Chucker’s in rocky central Oregon. These have a reasonable light weight with good support and traction. This is my second pair. First pair is about 10 years old and are now my work boots for cutting/ splitting wood.

      2nd pair of Pronghorns, nice light boot. Comfortable from the moment you put them on. First pair lasted about a year, which is to be expected based on how i treat my footwear. Doing forestry work in Maine really puts boots thru the wringer! My boots have a hard life...rocks, sticks, wet areas, barb wire, etc. The Pronghorns could be built tougher... but then you'd end up with a much heavier boot like my Super Rainforests... Overall, no complaints.

      Have had many Danner’s over the last few decades. From Corvallis to Explorer to Mt. Hood lite and a few others. This is my 1st pair of Pronghorns. Initial 5 mile hike observations: comfortable right out of the box. Uphill, downhill, gravel, pavement, fields...no issues and no hotspots. I did buy locally from small town outdoor store as I needed to try two different sizes based upon other reviews. Ended up 1/2 size larger. No heel slip, plenty of room in toe box. Rainy and wet, no leaks. For now it is a 5 star product. If durability is there it will stay 5 star. If packing an exceptionally heavy load, I’ll probably wear the Mt Hood lites, though not quite as comfortable I believe they offer an uptick in stability.

      The newer design fits my needs better. The top lace hooks arent so high up. The overall style is more like the first generation which i like better. One thing that they could use is a layer of rubber on the toe. Other than that they're great!

      Bought these in November 2020 for my upland go to boot. I’ve had Danner’s in the past so I assumed these would go for 5 or so years. Nope. The seams blew out today (November 20, 2021. It’s very disappointing these boots don’t last. I’ll try Kenetrek’s now.

      These are top notch performing boot! Whether you are chasing gobblers on flat land or hunting the ridges and mountain tops, this is a high quality, flexible boot that molds to your foot. The cushion and comfort is top notch.

      Ive been a lifelong redwing guy but after buying thses i may never buy another pair of redwings! Picked up these boots before a trip and was worried about break in but after 45 miles of hard terrain in northern MN straight out of the box with not a blister or hotspot to be found im sold! I teated them in thorns, floating bog, pine forest, cattails and thickets a few cuts but still waterproof and comfortable, plenty of support and did I mention NO BLISTERS!

      Look elsewhere.

      This is an amendment of an earlier review. Do not waste your money on these boots. The material around the edge of the boot comes away from the boot and crumbles. The stitching is weak and holes form. I have had this pair for less than a year and am very disappointed in the construction. The fit and function are great. But if your going to spend this amount of money on a boot, look elsewhere.

      I'm not sure if I got mislabeled boots or what. The old model fit perfectly. New model on the same size fits extremely narrow and short. Toe box is a lot smaller.

      Ordered a pair of the same boot/same size I've worn for 20 years last year from Scheels. They were too short and too narrow. Ordered another pair a full size bigger and they fit. Thanks, Scheels, for doing all the shipping and re-ordering. It took 6 months and 3 different pair of boots to find out Danner had changed the sizes and no one at Scheels seemed to be aware of it. Finally called Danner and they informed me they had changed their sizes for whatever reason. Bad trick. Since then I purchased this pair and they fit great. Should inform your return customers about the size changes.

      I have purchased a good amount of Danner hiking boots previously and have had nothing but great reviews. First pair of Pronghorn hunting boots I have bought but so far I am really impressed. The general break in period is fairly short, I have hiked quite a few different Oregon and Washington trails and these have truly impressed me. The bottom grip of the boots is very quiet and well balanced as well stable and comfortable. These boots have amazing support! With a previous sporting injury my ankle requires a very stable support which these boots have. The full grain leather and upper part of these boots is completely breathable and wearable for hours of walking. Again I've had nothing but good experiences with Danner and look forward to using these boots for the many hunts ahead.
