Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Quality Boots Welted and Stitched Outer Sole This is the workboot that I have been looking for. I'm an engineer who spends some time inspecting construction sites so I needed safety work boots that also looks great off the jobsite. The great quality leather upper is thick and soft and the tan color blends well with dusty environment of construction sites. The welted shoe construction makes it very durable as a work shoe but the low profile of the outer sole makes it look dressier than lugged or molded rubber soles. The front half of the outer sole is stitched to welt which makes it durable and resistant to sole separation. The outer sole looks like cork nitrile with slightly lugged bottom surface. The sole feels grippy and flexible. The quality of the stitching looks great all throughout. The inside of the shoe is lined with fabric with a bit of cushion except for the heel which is lined by leathery kind of material. There is a removable foam insole that's labeled "airflow comfort orthotic system" "washable" "antifungus and bacteria". The midsole is lined with the same fabric as the uppers. The tongue is gusseted with fabric stitched to the tongue and the uppers. The tongue is lined with cushioned fabric. The inside label indicates the shoe is made in China. The only thing I don't like is the fabric tag that says "waterproof" stitched between the leather uppers. It detracts from the high quality look of the shoe and weakens the waterproofing barrier of the shoe along the stitched joints of the leather. The shoelace eyelets and speed hooks looks pretty beefy and sturdy. They appear to be made of nickel plated copper or bronze. The shoe feels comfortable on the first try due to the cushioned inner lining and footbed. The leather is thick but soft. The fit is perfect for me. I ordered size 8.5 W which feels the same fit as my 8.5 D Red Wing Iron Ranger and 9 D Frye Logan. I'm very happy with the purchase. I have to see how it performs long term but I feel I will buy again the same shoe in the future if they will still be available then. I wish they would make these shoes in the USA.
