Boot Barn: So Much More than Just Western/Cowboy Boots
What pops in your mind when you hear “Boot Barn?” Wait, let me guess, you’re thinking of boots, aren’t you? How did I know? But what kind of boots are you thinking about?
Well, seeing how the word “barn” is associated with the name, this may lead people to think of cows, chickens, and horses which all happen to live in barns. And ultimately, chickens, horses, and barns are all things that you would find on a farm which would then lead people to think of ranches, more horses, and wide open areas, namely the West. So as we conclude this trivial, but entertaining, thought process, everyone is probably thinking about cowboys right now. So put 2 and 2 together and let’s try this all over again; what pops in your mind when you hear “Boot Barn?” The answer? Cowboy Boots! Ding, ding, ding……but you would be wrong. (Continue reading for the correct answer)
Don’t let the name fool you. Boot Barn has way more than just cowboy boots and the proof is in the pudding. All one has to do is go to www.bootbarn.com to become a believer.
You don’t have to wear cowboy boots to shop at Bootbarn.com. Do you like tearing up the roads on the weekends? Do you enjoy the adventure and the freedom of the open road? Well, at Bootbarn.com you can express your personal style with a pair of Harley Davidson’s because, YES, we have motorcycle boots.

Ariat makes one of the most comfortable shoes around and they’ve incorporated that technology into their riding boots so your feet stay comfortable all day long, in or out of the stirrup.
Do you enjoy a challenge? Are mountains just a pile of rocks to you? Do you need footwear that can keep up with your pace? How about boots that are lightweight, puncture resistant, rugged, long-lasting, resilient, waterproof, and comfortable? Not enough? How about boots that also mold, wick, cushion, support, breath, dry, don’t slip, insulate, and protect? Because if those are the kind of boots you’re looking for, then Bootbarn.com is the place to look. Bootbarn.com offers a wide variety of hiking boots for the adventurous everywhere, whether you’re a beginner or a veteran.
Do you enjoy a little hunting? Do the animals see you coming from a mile away? Well, Bootbarn.com can help. Check out our selection of camouflage hunting boots and you’ll blend right into the background. So if you ever come back empty handed, we’ll know the problem wasn’t in the footwear.
Is the kitchen floor a little too slippery? Are you on call twenty-four hours a day? Do you have to be ready in a moments notice? Are you on your feet all day long? In addition to the variety of western, motorcycle, hiking, riding, casual, work and exotic cowboy boots, we also carry boots to cater to those who serve us. Whether you work in the restaurant, legal enforcement, fire protection, military or medical care business, Bootbarn.com can help. We have something for everyone, on or off duty.
Do you work in construction or engineering where steel toe boots are a must? Do you also need shoes that not only protect but feel good as well? How about boots that provide electrical hazard protection, insulation, puncture and slip resistance, and static dissipating soles? When you work in tough environments, you need even tougher shoes to handle the job and you’ve found them at Bootbarn.com. From Caterpillar to Wolverine to Timberland to Chippewa IQ work boots, we’ve got it all.
Are you just not a boot fan at all? Do your toes feel inhibited in closed toe shoes or boots? Do you need some wiggle room? How about a great pair of sandals? Bootbarn.com offers a variety of sandals, clogs, and mules for the fashion forward.
And for all the boot enthusiasts out there, don’t worry. We also stay true to our name with our great selection of boots with ropers, buckaroos, packers, exotic leather, slouch, wedding, and classic cowgirl and cowboy boots. So don’t let the name fool you, we’re more than just western boots. With over 50 different brands to choose from it’s no surprise our name is Boot Barn, we’ll probably need a few hundred barns for all the shoes we carry.

Uggs: Perfect Footwear for the Wind, Snow and Rain
They’re not exactly the boots that come to mind when you hear hot runway boots! But they’ve certainly come a long way from the beach and they’re here in full force and are probably here to stay….at least for the time being.
Okay, so sheepskin boots aren’t the most fashionable looking boots out there. In fact, to most people, they’re ugly, they’re so last season and they look kind of clunky, almost like you’re wearing a loaf of bread on your feet. There are even groups out there devoted to putting a stop to the Ugg phenomenon. So they’re not the prettiest boots to circulate the fashion world, although some would disagree, but boy oh boy, do they keep your feet warm. It’s like putting your feet up next to a nice toasty fire; this is a true testament from yours truly.
Yes, that is correct; I own a pair of Uggs. My reasons for wanting Uggs may not conform to the fashion frenzy; however to the Ugg haters out there, reasons devoid, the results are the same, I am an Ugg owner. Now, I am on neither side when it comes to the war on Uggs, however, I just have one thing to say; on my camping trip this past weekend, while everybody else was freezing their feet off in below 40 weather, my feet weren’t cold at all in my Uggs. In my pre-Ugg days, I received quite a bit of criticism from my fellow campers for wanting these boots but I was the last one laughing as we were sitting in the middle of nowhere on top of the San Diego mountains, and I was all warm and cozy in my brand new Uggs, in 30 degree weather with wind, while everybody else, females mostly and maybe males too?, were gazing at me with shoe envy. (I guess I really was sitting on top of the mountain…..)
On my journey to obtaining the perfect pair of Uggs, more than one person tried talking me out of purchasing these boots. I even received a few dirty looks. For reasons all their own, Uggs don’t appeal to everybody and that’s okay. But one thing that is universal and undeniable; Ugg boots, shoes, slippers, footwear, etc., will definitely keep your feet warm. In fact, these babies are going to Mammoth with me next month and I may just have to do a little dance in them on the snow, all the while staying warm and cozy, to boast to all the naysayers that tried to keep me from my Uggs. So for all you naysayers out there, this dance is for you!

Hater is such a harsh word, so for all you anti-Ugg people, remember; Fashion is fun, Fashion is individual, Fashion is daring and like most things in life, some Fashion is not for everybody. And for anybody who dares to call Uggs glorified house slippers, I dare you to walk in freezing weather in a pair of Uggs and tell me that they aren’t just the warmest footwear your feet have ever encountered. I double-dog dare ya!

Nocona Boots: A Family Tradition
Nocona Boot Company was founded in 1925 by Enid Justin, daughter of H.J. Justin, but their story starts way before then. H.J. Justin, started with a shoe repair shop in 1879, and soon after, he turned his craft into a tradition of fine boot making. Eventually, he moved his family and his business to Nocona, Texas, in hopes of better business opportunities. In 1906, after dropping out of school, Enid started working for her father at the young age of twelve. During this time, she learned the trade of boot making and absorbed her father’s love for the hand-crafted art.
Twelve years later, H.J. Justin passed away in 1918. After the passing of their father, some family members wanted to move the family business to Fort Worth, Texas, but Enid felt that her father would have wanted the company to stay in Nocona. So when her brothers moved Justin Boot Company to Fort Worth, she stayed behind, borrowed some money and founded the Nocona Boot Company. When the company first started, some men were wary of buying boots made by a woman. But that didn’t last long as they soon discovered that Enid’s boots were just as good as the late H.J. Justin’s.
When the oil business attracted people to Nocona, it also drew new customers to the Nocona Boot Company. To facilitate the workers, they created a lace-up work boot that was tough enough to withstand the oil fields which kept workers returning for more boots. She then made a sales trip into West Texas and came back with a book full of orders for her boots and the rest is history. In 1981, they merged with Justin Industries and the family boot business was together once again. At the age of 88, Enid Justin retired as president and CEO, but she remained active in her company and served as honorary chairman of the board and consultant until her death in October, 1990.
Since the beginning of Nocona in 1925, their reputation for excellence by providing the finest and best fitting western footwear has grown around the country. Known for great western styling, unsurpassed craftsmanship and the highest quality leathers, Nocona stands out!

Red Wing Shoe Company
In 1905, Charles H. Beckman founded the Red Wing Shoe Company in the town of Red Wing, Minnesota. When the company first started, the boots sold for $1.75 a pair. It wasn’t long before business started to boom. In 1907, they were producing 100 pairs of shoes per day, but by 1915, production grew to 200,000 pairs of shoes a year. Not only were civilians wearing Red Wing shoes, soldiers in World War I were also issued Red Wings and the company later on manufactured more boots for soldiers in the U.S. Military. After gaining popularity all over the country, Red Wing expanded globally into Canada, Mexico, South America, Europe, and some countries in the East. In 1985, the company expanded after production reached two million pairs. With over 150 styles, Red Wing Shoe Company had a shoe for every occasion.
Red Wing boots are built the Red Wing way. Every inch of their leather is inspected and graded for durability and flex. Then the premium leather is cut and sorted into pieces and inspected once again. The leather is then stitched together and shaped over a last to attach the insole, which is done primarily by hand. Then the sole is attached and the shoe is trimmed, cleaned, and treated and hand inspected once again for quality assurance. For almost one hundred years now, the Red Wing Shoe Company has been committed to quality, craftsmanship, durability, and comfort. That commitment carries on and is visible in every pair of Red Wing shoes.

Dr. Martens are more than just a fashion statement
Dr. Marten shoes and boots have evolved from footwear into cultural icons. More than just fashion footwear, they have become methods of self expression and individualism for the young and old all over the world. More than just footwear, they are signs of individuality, independence, and an intense pride in who you are.
In 1945, after a skiing accident, Dr. Klaus Maertens made a breakthrough in footwear. While trying to accommodate for his injured foot, he designed a shoe with an air-cushioned sole to make walking easier. In doing so, Dr. Maertens had inadvertently created an outlet for subcultures all over to express their styles for decades to come. Then, along with his inventor friend, Dr. Herbert Funck, they went ahead and produced the shoes. After continuously being rejected by manufacturers, the R. Griggs Group decided to take a chance and worked with them to produce and distribute their shoes and in 1960, Dr. Martens 1460 boot was born. Their shoes adorned the feet of the working class all throughout Britain from the police to postal workers before younger cultures adopted the popular shoes into their lifestyles.
Dr. Marten's (Doc’s) have reached the status that few brands have: an undisputed world leader. Their reputation has been built on serious investment and testing to make sure their boots and shoes are the highest quality possible. From skins to punk to Goths to grunge, there’s no shoe out there more versatile than Doc Martens. What started out as a comfortable pair of work shoes, have progressed into lifestyle statements for cultures everywhere.

Tony Lama: Commitment to Comfort
Tony Lama, the most recognized boot brand in the world in Western Boots, has combined hand-crafted boot making know-how with contemporary technology to give their customers long lasting quality and undeniable comfort. Tony Lama started making boots back in 1911 and today they are known for their traditional cowboy boot making ways, producing some of the finest boots around with high quality leathers and designs.
Tony Lama first started learning about boots at the early age of 11. After being apprenticed to a shoemaker in Syracuse, New York, he went on to become a premier boot maker in the boot industry. After joining the U.S. Cavalry as a cobbler, he realized the importance of a good fitting pair of boots. So after he completed his tour of service, he settled in El Paso, Texas, and set out to make only the best, most comfortable boots around. His boot business started out slowly and the majority of his business consisted of repair work but it didn’t take long for the popularity of his boots to spread like wildfire. Soon his boots started making a name for themselves. Cowboys, ranchers, and cavalrymen from all over the Southwest were lining up for a pair of Tony Lama boots.
In the 1930’s demand for his boots were growing and western stores began stocking Tony Lama’s boots. To meet these growing demands, Tony Lama invented new ways to mass produce his boots that still retained all the quality and hand crafting intricacies that his first boots had. 30 years later, Tony Lama expanded and moved into larger accommodations and what started out as a 20 pairs a day business soon evolved into 750 pairs of boots a day.
Every one of Tony Lama’s boots has more than 100 steps that are overseen by skilled craftsmen. They use only top grade leathers and all leather construction. Every boot has special features such as a shank, a heavy gauge double ribbed steel strip that supports the arch, providing customers with the utmost comfort. Their cushion comfort system makes Tony Lama boots easier than ever to slip on and wear all day.
After Tony Lama passed away in 1974, his children took over the business and continued their father’s legacy. Like their father, they are still dedicated to making the most comfortable hand crafted boots around and combined with today’s technology, Tony Lama boots have definitely set the standard. To this day, Tony Lama’s commitment to quality, handcrafted, and most importantly, comfortable boots lives on.

Wolverine: Footwear That Won’t Quit On You
The company later known to the world as Wolverine World Wide, was founded by G.A. Krause, in 1883. Twenty years later in Rockford, Michigan, he and his sons built a shoe factory that produced 300 pairs of shoes a day. Later, they built the Wolverine tannery and the Wolverine brand name was chosen to represent the shoes that were made of this tough and durable Wolverine horsehide leather. After national advertising efforts, Wolverine gained rapid popularity and the business began to grow. Even during the Great Depression, Wolverine pushed forward and maintained their shoe production for better times. In 1976, Wolverine Shoe & Tanning Company officially became Wolverine World Wide, Inc.
Technology
Wolverine is known for comfortable work boots that meet the demands "on the job" since 1883! Utilizing the most advanced footwear technologies, Wolverine boots are designed to withstand the toughest jobs and the harshest environments. In an effort to combine a comfort system with work boots, Wolverine designed different technologies to provide customers ultimate comfort and utility. Wolverine Compressor Technology has a patented 3-zone aero-space lining that lifts moisture so the feet stay dry. The DuraShocks insole has polymer pads to cushion the entire foot. The compression system has two layers, the first layer has a built in shank for stability and the second layer has compression chambers to absorb 50% more shock and return 30% more energy in each step. Wolverine MultiShox Technology has individual compression pads to respond to you, advanced polyurethane which is 30% lighter, heavy-duty construction, full grain leather that molds to the feet, comfort flex arch to support feet, rubber outsole that’s slip, oil, abrasion, and heat resistant, and a comfort gel insole for cushion. Wolverine Fusion Technology has a 360 degree side stitch that attaches the welted upper to the DuraShocks comfort system. This permanently locks the direct-attach outsole to the welted upper. Wolverine DuraShocks technology is made with lightweight dual-density construction that weighs one third as much as rubber but absorbs four times the force. It also has compression pads, closed-cell polyurethane footbed construction, and dual-density polymer pads. And the Wolverine DuraShocks slip resistant boots have compounds in the outsole lugs to increase traction. The tread design has a high surface area of contact and directs liquid away from the surface area.
When G.A. Krause founded Wolverine in 1883, he was believed to have said, “There is some opportunity here.” Well, he was right because today, Wolverine is definitely a leader when it comes to work boots. They are on the leading edge of technology and their boots are ready for any challenge. Worn by workers all over the world, Wolverine boots are designed to be tough, powerful, and most importantly, comfortable enough to make it through any work day, no matter how long it is.

Frye Boots: Stepping Into History
Frye Boots come from a long line of tradition. The company is the oldest continuously operating shoe company in the United States. The Frye Boot Company was founded in 1863 by John A. Frye, a shoemaker from England. He ran the company by himself for almost 50 years until his death in 1911. After his death, his family continued his legacy and took over the company until 1945.
Frye boots are deep rooted in history. They were worn by soldiers from America’s Civil War, soldiers in the Spanish-American War, and by Teddy Roosevelt and his Rough Riders. And when families from New England headed west to the new frontier in the mid and late 1800’s, many of the pioneers were wearing none other than Frye Boots for the long journey. In 1938, John A. Frye’s grandson agreed to make a pair of Wellington’s for a U.S. Navy Admiral because he had a difficult time finding the style he liked. After that, orders started pouring in for the same pair of boots and Frye continued to fulfill these orders through the Second World War. During this time, Frye supplied thousands of their Wellington’s, known as Jet Boots, to the soldiers in the army. Even General Patton wore a pair of Frye Boots.
For over 140 years now, Frye Boots has been dedicated to quality, craftsmanship, and tradition. From harness to western, traditional to fashion, 1863 to 2005, Frye Boots have stood the test of time. Known for their classic looks and fashions, Frye is often the choice of stars and celebrities. You'll see Frye Boots in many of the latest fashion and interest magazines like Men's Health and Vogue....and for good reason. They were the boots of choice in the past and they remain the boots of choice in the 21st century. Frye Boots have embedded themselves into American culture and were also chosen to represent the America of the 60’s at the Smithsonian Institute. They’ve made their mark in the past as pioneers in footwear history, and now, history repeats itself.

Double-H: Boots You Can Count On!
The H.H. Brown Shoe Company was originally founded in 1928 by Ray Heffernan. The company underwent a name change in 1955, after moving its location to Richland, PA, and it became the Richland Shoe Company. They began productions on cowboy and work boots and were the first to manufacture western safety toe boots, and in conjunction, these boots were the first boots to pass the Class 75 ANSI safety footwear standards. The company also expanded into making harness boots and dress western boots. In 1981, the company expanded again and purchased a larger building in Womelsdorf, PA, to facilitate their growing business. And finally in 1992, after expanding, relocating, and 2 name changes later, the company name was changed to Double-H Boot Company to reflect the tradition of H.H. Brown.
For the trail or the road, Double-H brands only the best boots. They use only the best materials and each style is built to last whether you’re on the job or on a bike. Every shoe or boot is designed to provide maximum comfort so that you get maximum utility from your footwear. Double-H incorporates a Dryz Moisture Management system in all of their shoes. This system absorbs moisture and converts it into a dry gel so that the feet stay dry all day long. They also feature a Moisture Transport System, which allows odor, heat, and moisture, to be drawn away from the skin and transported through a breathable hydrophilic copolymer and evaporated to the outside. A gel pad is placed in the heel to absorb shock and cushion each step you take. Double-H uses Opanka construction, where the upper is attached to the outsole and the sock lining, providing maximum flexibility. Every style is built with performance in mind. From motorcycle to western to work boots, Double-H boots are boots you can count on!
H.H. Brown’s roots go back over 100 years to 1883 when Henry H. Brown first started hand crafting boots in Natick, Massachusetts. Over the past 122 years, times have changed, customers have come and gone, and technology has definitely come a long way, but H.H. Brown has adapted to all these changes to come full force into the 21st century. When the company was first founded, they made high quality western footwear at a fair price. Today, over 100 years later, Double-H is still making quality footwear at a fair price.

Old Gringo Brings Flare for the Vintage Days
It’s No Accident
Five years ago, Yan Ferry and Ernie Tarut decided to open the best boot factory in North America producing their own brand of boots that would only be the best. This dream was ideal to both given that Yan was one of the best boot makers in the world and Ernie had over 30 years of experience in the boot business. With Yan’s leading expertise in boot making and design, coupled with Ernie’s knowledge of the leather manufacturing and wholesale business, Old Gringo was first introduced to the boot world in the fall of 2000.
Within six months of opening the factory, Yan Ferry had already designed a collection of vintage, retro, and original styles that were launched to the boot market with great success. Along with being welcomed and accepted in major western chains, Old Gringo had also found its way into fashion boutiques and major catalogs. Old Gringo’s beautiful designs called out to not only the fashionable cowgirl or cowboy but to the fashionable in general, western or not. Along with major retailers, customers were just as eager to purchase a pair of Old Gringos. Combining the best materials with the highest skills in craftsmanship, Old Gringo has proven that creative designs and comfort are in fact no accident. The meticulous design of each and every Old Gringo boot has made it what it is today. And to this day they still strive to provide their customers with quality, comfort, and one of a kind designs.

Yet, here we are in the year 2005 and Justin is still crafting western boots in the same tradition since 1879. Western boot values still hold true. And, when you think about it, every time you put on a pair, you’re putting on the tradition of over a century. Whether you looking for a true cowboy boot, a riding boot, western work boot, casual footwear style or basic great leather footwear, Justin fits your feet.
We interviewed Kevin Kelley of Justin Boot Company, head quartered in Fort Worth, TX. Mr. Kelly has been representing Justin boots for many, many years.
What is the difference with Justin Boots?
“The HISTORY is (one major) difference between Justin and other brands. 126 years of consistent quality and (good) fit. Justin’s fit is a generous, comfortable fit for the majority of people. Other brands tend to have a fit that typically is less generous and takes some getting used to."
What are some of your current top sellers nationwide?
Our style 3133 black roper (a "wellington" style) that has been in the Justin line up for years. It was renamed "roper" in the mid 50's. It’s all quality leather, wide toe, low heel and makes for a very comfortable piece of footwear.
1409 black traditional cowboy boot is a medium round toe top quality leather boot. This boot has a comfortable long base heel that gives a lot of "area" to stand on. It also has an added J-Flex insole and a six row stitch pattern of silvers and blues that makes for an attractive boot. Check out style 2253 too for a great jeans boot.

Ariat Interview

Ariat Interview
Ariat Boots and Footwear is one of our favorite brands. A great feature about Ariat is that they are known for extra foot comfort, cushioned insoles and a very good general fit. If you are new to western boots, they are a great place to start! Ariat's other lines, such as clogs, sandals, work boots, etc. are also tremendously comfortable as well and work well for those that are on their feet for long periods of time. For example, their sandals are truly known as “walking” sandals, that customers can walk long durations for in!
Recently we sat down with John Grant from Ariat International. John has been a sales account manager at Ariat for many years and has work directly with many, many customers.
To start out, we asked generally, “What makes Ariat special? What separates it from other brands?”
Ariat was created with one main goal in mind. “To create the worlds most technologically advanced riding boots for the worlds greatest equestrian athletes.”
The residual affect is that you do not have to be one of the “worlds greatest equestrian athletes” to enjoy the features and benefits of the brand. Ariat incorporates the equestrian lifestyle technology to all categories, including casual styles for everyday wear. In reality, Ariat is an equestrian athletic shoe or boot that gives the user performance, comfort and durability.
Ariat is the most comfortable boot you can buy. Ariat features orthodic insoles that mold to the foot. There is gel on the ball of the foot and heal to absorb shock from walking, running and jumping. The insoles wick away perspiration moisture and keep the foot dry for a more comfortable experience. Ariat’s “ATS” and “Cobalt Pro” technologies utilize a carbon fiber forked shank that stabilizes the foot and gives the foot a wide foundation to prevent rollover. The outsoles are made of a rubber carbon compound that is up to 8 times longer wearing than leather. The soles are barnyard acid resistant, non-marring and help grip the stirrup plus keep your feet in position while riding. The soles are designed to release from the stirrup when needed, do to a specially designed tread pattern. Ariat uses the finest leathers available from all over the world to create the best quality and value in the boot industry.
What are some of you current top styles nation-wide?
Heritage Roper, 35525, distressed leather brown color. This is a boot that the user can ride in, walk in, work in and wear as a casual style with jeans every day, day in and day out. It features ATS technology with a carbon fiber forked shank, gel footbed, rubber-carbon outsole and oiled distressed leather that is good around the barnyard, on the job sight, or just plain knocking around.
Sedona Western, 34625 and 34601, distressed leather brown and black smooth. These styles offer a steel shank, 4LR technology and comfort insole in a traditional western toe pattern. This style can be worn as a jeans/casual style or work western style. Thousands of consumers have found this boot to be their every day boot for working, riding and casual wear.
Cascade style 37180 in sunshine color. This style is a work boot with Ariat’s ATS technology, featuring a carbon fiber shank for stability, a thicker outsole for heavy duty work related use, a moisture wicking comfortable footbed to keep the feet dry and comfortable all day. This boot is good for working in farm and ranch environment as well as construction or medium to high abrasive related jobs. It also looks good after the day’s job is done and the user wants to wear it with jeans.
We excited to hear directly from our customers. Have a comment? We’d like to hear from you, especially if you are a current Ariat customer!

Timberland’s are Tough for Tough Jobs!
In 1918, Nathan Swartz, founder of Timberland, began his career in boot making as an apprentice stitcher where he learned the craft of making quality leather boots. With almost 40 years of experience, he went on to acquire The Abington Shoe Company, and together with his sons, they made shoes for leading manufacturers and in 1973, the Timberland name was born. In the 60’s, when waterproof leather boots didn’t really exist, the Swartz family introduced injection-molding technology that fused soles to leather uppers without stitching. This technology proved successful and produced one of the first truly quality waterproof boots that is now synonymous with the Timberland name. The innovation doesn’t end there, in 1998, they launched the Timberland PRO™ series of “Work boots for the Professional.”
Timberland Pro Series work boots have been created exclusively for working professionals who need the best comfort, durability and foot protection on the job. These boots are specifically engineered to meet worksite demands. The Pro series have safety features that meet industry standards while providing the maximum comfort. These boots are built to last, built for comfort and built for work. Timberland Pros are dedicated to work. They use the finest, most durable materials for longer wear and greater comfort over the lifetime of your boots. You can count on Timberland Pro for the latest and best technology for you to "finish" and "get" the job done.

Some of Timberland’s Technology includes:
Steel Toe meets ANSI Z41 PT99 safety standards and features a roomier steel toe box than most other boots for a more comfortable fit.
Guaranteed Waterproof: Their waterproof styles feature waterproof leather and seam-sealed construction to keep feet dry. The waterproofing method permeates the leather, so it allows for greater breathability.
Insulated Lightweight, high-lofted, quick-drying, and moisture-resistant Thinsulate™ insulation keeps feet warm in any weather.
Timberland PRO® Rubber: They use a durable, specially-made rubber compound to offer high slip-resistance, abrasion-resistance and oil-resistance. The result is better traction on all surfaces — mud, wood, work floor or roof.
Electrical Hazard: Their work boots with Electrical Hazard Protection meet ANSI Z41 PT99 standards to provide protection from open circuits.
The Gore-Tex® waterproof/breathable membrane barrier keeps water out, yet allows moisture vapor from sweat to pass through. You stay dry and comfortable, rain or shine.
PRO 24/7 Comfort Suspension™ technology is a unique comfort system that meets the most rigorous work site demands -- 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It helps reduce foot fatigue, support the arch and cushion every step.
We interviewed Ken Newville of Timberland, head quartered in Stratham, New Hampshire.
What makes your Brand special?
“Humanity, Humility, Integrity and Excellence are the core values that drive Timberland in all we do- how we work, how we live, how we treat others and how we contribute to the communities around us. These values are not new to Timberland. Honest and ethical conduct has been the standard practice for Timberland for over 30 years and will continue to be the cornerstone of how we operate. The real test of whether we're living up to our commitment to doing well and doing good is the real life outcome of our efforts--stronger communities, safer workplaces, a cleaner environment. We must challenge ourselves -and each other-- to work hard at continuously improving these results. By staying focused on our vision and our values, Timberland will continue to increase the impact of our efforts and further our commitment to being an ethical, responsible and committed corporate citizen.”
What separates it from other brands?
“Our commitment to doing well and doing good. Being a good corporate partner; i.e., return of investment for our stockholders, delivering on sales and marketing strategies, open and honest communication with our retail partners, high levels of customer service, everyday. Doing good in the world we live in; i.e., Our corporate and individual commitments to community service.”
Can you tell me 2 or 3 of your national best sellers in your opinion why these are top sellers?
“Nationally, 65016, our waterproof steel toe 6" boot in wheat is and will probably always be one of our best sellers. This boot is our brand icon, it was one of the original boots The Timberland Company built the brand on. This boot has always stood for rugged outdoor protection. Timberland PRO has taken this best seller and industrialized it to serve the needs of the hard core industrial heavy user. A more recent run away best seller is the Titan at Boot Barn. This boot uses a revolutionary new Titanium Alloy Toe, which is a third lighter than a steel toe, but still meets all the ANSI 175/C75 standards. It's our lightest work boot, featuring the PowerFit comfort system, with premium full-grade leather. This boot also has a Slip-resistant, Oil resistant, Abrasion resistant PRO rubber outsole, with a Polyurethane midsole which provides durable cushioning and energy return on foot strike. Try a pair on!”
