Bring in the warmth and spirit of the old west with Pendleton's high quality collection of blankets and throws. This blanket is part of the Celebrate the Horse Collection and it is made with a blend of virgin wool and cotton. The scene depicts a great warrior astride a swift elk-horse followed by more horses while they stride across a great plain. This blanket is based on a design from the Blackfoot Tribe where the expert horsemen called the animal "elk-horse" for its great size. The introduction of the elk-horse to the Native Americans forever changed their culture encouraging them to migrate, trade, herd, and hunt. With a large size of 64" X 80", this is perfect for snuggling by the fire with your family.
During the turn of the 20th Century the Pendleton Blanket legend was born at a woolen mill in Pendleton, Oregon that began producing striking wool blankets with vivid colors and authentic Native American Indian designs for the Umatilla and Cayuse Indian tribes in the Northwest. The combination of beauty, quality, durability and the superior warmth of the wool blankets make them popular for a wide range of outdoor activities and has earned Pendleton a reputation for superb craftsmanship and quality which continues to be a hallmark of the Pendleton Blanket.
